Arlington is a city in northern Snohomish County, Washington, United States, part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The city lies on the Stillaguamish River in the western foothills of the Cascade Range, adjacent to the city of Marysville and 10 miles (16 km) north of Everett. It had a population of 17,926 in 2010.

Arlington was established in the 1880s and platted as two rival towns, Arlington and Haller City. Arlington was the larger of the two towns and absorbed Haller City prior to incorporating as a city on May 20, 1903. Beginning in the 1980s, Arlington transformed into a bedroom community for Everett and Seattle, building new suburban neighborhoods and annexing the unincorporated area of Smokey Point to the southwest. The economy of the Arlington area transitioned from timber and agriculture to a service economy during its suburbanization in the late 20th century. The city's airport is home to a large concentration of aerospace jobs, fueled by the nearby Boeing facility in Everett. (Full article...)

  • Reasons for nomination: 115 years since date of incorporation. The election to decide incorporation (May 5) is also a good date for TFA, if needed. Article has been maintained in the year since it was promoted. Has plenty of bot-created translations to other languages.
