Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

The account Sennalen, a WP:CLEANSTART account, has claimed to have never edited Falun Gong in a few different arbitration enforcement requests lately. However, both accounts overlap heavily in specific FRINGE and conspiract theory topics, especially around topics like Covid-19 lab leak proposals and other topics of particular interest to the Epoch Times.

It would be helpful to rule out any potential sockpuppetry happening here out.

Note Cleopatran Apocalypse's profile page comment about cultural marxism and the Frankfurt School, stating an intent to edit there ("I want to fill out the overall topic area in the critical studies sub-fields, and then think about how the main page on critical theory can be improved and made more sensible to people who keep hearing about "cultural Marxism" from conservatives but do not understand how the Frankfurters came about, what they were responding to, and how inevitable it all was."). The account Sennalen (talk · contribs) made its first edit in December 2021 on Marxist cultural analysis.

(The account Cleopatran Apocalypse seems to have gone all but dormant starting August 2021. Cleopatran Apocalypse's most recent edit was January 2023, the account's only edit in 2023, with a few edits in 2022). :bloodofox: (talk) 18:56, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would consider such coincidences as sufficient cause to run a check too. Have at it so we can clear this up. Sennalen (talk) 19:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • CU is likely stale, and I'm not sure I'd endorse anyways. This doesn't seem like an implausible set of POVs for two editors to share, and there's a few distinctive things about CA's writing style that I'm not seeing with Sennalen. But I'm already involved in this case at AE, so I'll leave it to someone else at SPI. Courtesy ping Bradv, to whom Sennalen has disclosed a previous account. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 20:34, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Tamzin. I have verified the the information I received by email from Sennalen, and uncovered no evidence of sockpuppetry. – bradv 20:51, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are some similarities, but like Tamzin I can see some distinctive differences, and I think they easily outweigh the fairly limited similarities. I therefore think there is nothing to do here. JBW (talk) 22:27, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
