Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

This is a case where the first registered account has never been blocked, but a subsequent account has been indeffed for disruption. The main problems with this person are genre warring,[1][2] adding unreferenced material, and wrongly inserting the name Sam or Samuel Hinchliffe into references as the author of the reference. Checkuser is not needed here, as the connection is so obvious. Both of the listed users, and most of these IPs from the Sheffield area, have inserted references with Hinchliffe as author.[3][4][5][6] These references all have the accessdate parameter but no publication date parameter. This person is also very interested in list articles regarding voice range, such as List of contraltos in non-classical music. Binksternet (talk) 14:12, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

The IP was given a message from Binksternet being warned to not evade previous blocking efforts responding to SamHinch-related activity. Similar to the other sockpuppets, this IP likes to edit genre classifications of artists and musicians, often without discussion or sourcing (or, as seen here, sources own content). They recently did an edit to Paradise Lost (band) even after being warned against sockpuppeting. The 86.183 IP also shares an interest in bands such as Portishead, Goldfrapp, and Nightwish with other IPs and accounts brought up in the last investigation. • Obvious case, no checkuser needed. SamHinch was known for adding references in which he replaced the source's author name with Sam or Samuel Hinchliffe. The above IP does so here, while SamHinch did so here. Nobody else does this except SamHinch socks. Binksternet (talk) 19:12, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

SamH1991 continues the interest in musical genres and Goldfrapp. This IP edit from 2018 (in which the name Sam Hinchliffe was wrongly inserted as the author of sources) included some of the same URLs as this new edit by SamH1991, for instance the URLs https://www.nme.com/news/music/goldfrapp-15-1326919 and https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/exclusive-alison-goldfrapp-on-her-decade-of-pop-decadence-91967 are common to both edits. Notice that the Rolling Stone article was written by Colleen Nika, but both the Sheffield area IP and the new sock SamH1991 misrepresented the author: SamH1991 listed the author as Gemma Samways, and the Sheffield IP listed Sam Hinchliffe.

I would like to confirm by checkuser but everything in the past is stale. I half remember the IPs of this case shifting from Sheffield to metro London. Binksternet (talk) 16:30, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
