Suspected sockpuppets [edit]
Evidence submitted by Nirvana888 [edit]

Lear 21 and KJohansson have a remarkably similar modus operendi per WP:DUCK: the same editing interests (EU, great power, Berlin, Germany), same obstinate POV pushing/edit warring/disruptive behavior for months on end (Great power), same "see talk"/"update" edit summaries [1] [2] (a habit of leaving a message on the talk and making unilateral changes), a habit of making flippant personal attacks and accusations of ignorance/contravention of Wikipedia policies ([3] [4] [5]) [6], same location (Berlin) and same ISP (HANSENET-ADSL) etc. KJohansson claims to be from Sweden [7] but edits using the same ISP as Lear in Berlin [8]. If you would like more diffs I'd be more than happy to investigate further. Nirvana888 (talk) 00:34, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've amended an additional IP sock that just poped up and tried to "legally" taunt me. See [9] [10]

Some of the 85. IP´s related edits are likely conducted by myself (Lear 21). Nevertheless it remains as an absurd accusation by user:Nirvana888, who himself has been blocked because of socketpuppet violations. Most likely it is the reason why this user suspects others of doing so as well. The user:Nirvana888 has been engaged in an edit war at Great power and tries to initiate a personal attack on the base of this accusation in order to intimidate and to distruct from sensible argumentation at the discussion pages. As I am an exposed editor of several high quality mostread articles the existence of copycats (accounts like Lear22) under my name should not surprise. The user:KJohansson seems to have some similar editing interests with myself (we also discussed in other article themes) but in total seems to have a different focus(unlike the accusations suggests). The user is not identical with myself. all the best Lear 21 (talk) 00:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you feel like you are innocent then a CU should be able to prove this but I waited a long time (some would say too long) after the suspicious activity was first raised by User:Viewfinder. The IPs and other evidence only severed to corroborate and strengthen the suspicion. Thus it is not just myself but several others who have suspected possible sockpuppetry or meatpuppetry. Nirvana888 (talk) 01:13, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comments by other users [edit]

I am still suspicious of these accounts. Sockpuppeting seems possible, and meatpuppeting seems quite likely. The serial personal attacks and contempt for other editors shown by Johansson, and persistent unilateral edits by Lear and Johansson have obstructed what should have an easy edit dispute to resolve.  Clerk endorsed MuZemike 00:35, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly for a check on Wegos, KJohansson, and the 78 IP. Everything else is  Stale for CU purposes. MuZemike 00:41, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks the 92s and 67 IPs are also quite recent and not stale. Nirvana888 (talk) 01:45, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes. You're right. MuZemike 02:49, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  In progress - I'm currently working on this but need a second checkuser opinion on something. brb - Allie 03:03, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed that KJohansson and Lear21 are the same editor. Wegos is Red X Unrelated. No comment on the IPs. Thatcher 03:03, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • (edit conflict) Looks like Thatcher and myself clashed on taking this case. Also, we concur on the result:-  Confirmed with respect to the named user(s). no No comment with respect to IP address(es). that KJohansson and Lear21 are the same editor, and that Wegos is Red X Unrelated - Allie 03:06, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, 67.246.40.144 is Red X Unrelated to both Wegos and Lear21. Thatcher 03:07, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Conclusions [edit]

information Administrator note The following administrative actions have been taken:

  1. User:KJohansson has been indefinitely blocked and tagged as a sock of User:Lear 21.
  2. User:Lear22 has been indefinitely blocked but has been left untagged. This account is clearly a disruptive sock puppet of someone, but we don't know of whom.
  3. User:Lear 21 has been blocked 6 months for sock puppetry in an attempt to gain an upper hand in discussions and to edit-war.

Suspected sockpuppets [edit]

Evidence submitted by Pfainuk [edit]

User returns to articles on lists of countries making near-identical arguments to those used in previous discussions. Note in particular this personal attack as compared with this one. That second message also indicates familiarity with previous discussions: note that the last discussion was eighteen months ago). There is a little more evidence that I would prefer not to reveal publicly per WP:BEANS (e-mail me). Worth adding that the discussion was started by an IP that was in a similar range to one of those suspected of being one of Lear's sockpuppets last time around (Checkuser: no comment).

Relevant IPs are:

All geolocate to Germany, the last to Berlin in particular.

Comments by other users [edit]

They do all geolocate to Germany, but they go to different cities in Germany. 78.53.145.157 goes to Hamburg, Germany where as 92.230.50.163 goes to Frankfurt, Germany. Usb10 Let's talk 'bout it! 01:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure - my IP geolocates to a city a fair distance from where I live. Such things are not necessarily surprising. They're all in ranges similar to those listed last time around, for which checkuser gave no comment. (I didn't request checkuser this time because I figured that any evidence was likely to be stale).
As it is, the user hasn't edited since this was brought up on each of the talk pages. Pfainuk talk 08:12, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I cant find a clear connection, but Allie might be able to, with or without the private info. If nothing else, warn GlobalContinent that personal attacks arn't appropriate, and apply WP:DUCK if the edits become more aggressive or tenacious. John Vandenberg (chat) 09:36, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've given some thought to this case, and dug quite deeply into Lear 21's history. I found that, while Lear 21 used edit summaries quite extensively, he did so only in the article or template namespaces, not the talk: namespace. Here, GlobalContinent has no edit summaries, but has only edited the talk namespace. Also, I find the posts very similar in style, and therefore find it quite likely that, behaviourally, they are related. In particular, GC appears to show some familiarity with what has been discussed previously, and (while this is certainly not always the case), a new user who starts fighting a cause in the talk namespace is not so common. As such, I've blocked GC as a sockpuppet of Lear 21 based on behavioural similarities. PeterSymonds (talk) 11:44, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Please list evidence below this line. Remember to sign at the end of your section with 4 tilde characters "~~~~"

The contributions histories indicate that these users make (or made) edits to a very limited range of related articles (mainly 2 specific articles) and act in conspicuous unison in disputes (see esp. Wikipedia:Featured article review/Germany/archive1, Talk:Germany#FA concerns, and Talk:Germany#Crystal ball). The two accounts were, until recently, largely restricted to one topic each, one for each of the two main topics previously edited by blocked User:Lear 21 (KarlMathiessen for Germany and Kantianer for Berlin). Though individual edits may not be unconstructive, if these are controlled by the same person, the actions of the users constitute block evasion and an attempt to manipulate apparent consensus. Blocked User:Lear 21 is apparently still active on de:wikipedia. Boson (talk) 21:47, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk endorsed - The master and all its socks are stale, but I'm endorsing to check these two against each other. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 02:19, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Checkuser note: User:KarlMathiessen and User:Kantianer are  Likely to be the same user on technical grounds and behavioral evidence. However, it is possible it is meatpuppetry instead.  Frank  |  talk  12:11, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • information Administrator note Meat or not, there's some form of collusion here. Both accounts have been blocked. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 00:52, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's it, indef blocks all around? No talk page notes to explain? No attempt to explain policies which are perceived to have been violated, leading to the indef blocks?  Frank  |  talk  18:55, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Er.. I just left a note on both talk pages. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 03:09, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
