Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 July 3

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I recently created the article Curry Center, a restaurant in Budapest, Hungary. However, it was deleted on the grounds that was "exclusively promotional." I believe that as a restaurant, it deserves an article of its own. To the best of my knowledge, the article contained neutral information from a purely academic point of view. It contained no material that was by any means "unambiguous advertising or promotion." Upon placement of the speedy deletion tag in the article, I contested it in the talk page, but the article was still deleted without any further notice. I have the latest version of it, though, as a userspace draft. I would like to request feedback on it in order to improve it and iron out any chinks. Thank you :)

The article you point to above is still promotional. Academic means something for example from a journal that has been peer-reviewed. If, say, a professor of sociology has discussed its historical importance. But without any sources at all, let alone any independent ones, it is not considered "notable" per the Wikipedia guidelines. Sorry. I doubt many restaurants would qualify; there are other travel or food web sites that would be more appopriate. Personal opinions are appropriate in articles. Please make some comment on my overhauled article of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. This will improve much. All files are from official document of the said municipality.

The literature (and Wikipedia) contain lots of references to so-called 'PubMed Alternatives', most of which merely use the the PubMed data and superimpose a simplified search interface, reducing the functionalityy of the original PubMed interface substantially. 'Anne O'Tate' offers a genuine additional function which PubMed does not have: text-mining a search result, identifying e.g. suitable MeSH terms for a search (especially when PubMed mapping function fails). It is also notable that Anne O'tate was developed before 2007 but is still fully functional, valuable, and current. I have no connection (sleuth21) with any of the institution mentioned in the Anne O'Tte article. Sleuth21 (talk) 11:03, 3 July 2011 (UTC) Sleuth21 (talk) 10:59, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Show promise, but needs work. For example, a context needs to be established instead of pluging into buzzwords. My guess it has something to do with a database of medical publiciations? The typography is odd, I think you are using apostrophes as quotes? The unsourced trivia section must be removed unless there is a source for it. Perhaps all the citations from authors who wrote the software; ideally to be "notable" someone besides the people involved will have mentioned it somehere. Looking at it a bit, I would suggest widening the scope a bit to include all the "Arrowsmith" projects in one article. That would be more likely to survive a notability challenge. W Nowicki (talk) 03:01, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would like my new article to be reviewed. It is about Herieth Paul, a 16 year old new fashion model who has walked on the catwalk for Diane Von Furstenburg, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Lacoste.

I translated from Hebrew the first several paragraphs of an article about a well-known Israeli singer. The primary source seems to be the singer's published autobiography.

I created the article Kantus, the Locust priests/monks, and a caste level in Horde. They are used to communicate around the Hollow by using their powerful screeches and are deployed majorly as medics on the battlefield.[1] They wield a Gorgon Burst Pistol and use Ink Grenades. Their special abilities give them the power to revive downed Locust soldiers and the power to summon Tickers to fight on the battlefront, as well as coax Rockworms out of hiding for Locust hunting parties. They may also be able to use this scream to control the Riftworm as their leader Skorge can. If they are indeed able to, they do not, however, which seems to mean that communication with the Riftworm is in direct relation to the ranks within the Kantus caste.

Created this page to describe our software and include it in Comparison of time tracking software. Being new to Wikipedia and also having a COI (as the president of the company developing this software), I would appreciate feedback re: the neutrality of the article or any style issues.
