Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 December 12

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a new article about author/illustrator DyAnne DiSalvo.

I would like to verify the format and type of external links as well as the quality and quantity of references within the article. Thanks.

Newly created article.

Everything needs to be verifiable - with appropriate reliable sources. Currently, the "Actor" and "Writing" section - and other parts - have no footnoted reference.
Those really are essential; otherwise, anyone could add anything to the article - and we wouldn't know which parts were correct.
In addition, you have external links within the text; that is not correct. External links (such as Google) should only be either a) footnoted references, or b) in the special section at the end, entitled "External links". See WP:EL.
I suggest adding an infobox - a box at the top-right, giving key information - e.g. User:chzz/help/infobox. Please look at the template page for all the options - Template:infobox person. You could copy the sample code from there and 'fill in the blanks'.
"Writing" should probably not be a separate section, unless you are able to expand it considerably. A section should be at least a couple of paragraphs, so consider merging that one.
The very first part - the lede - is a bit short; it should provide a summary of the whole article. For an article this length, it should probably be a couple of paragraphs.
I hope that helps.  Chzz  ►  17:06, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I just re-wrote this article. I think it's well referred, but I'm not sure if it meets some of main criteria, such as the encyclopedic tone or language, as I'm new on the English wikipedia and I'm not a native speaker. I'd like some feedback on that, and the whole thing if it's possible. Thanks

I read your article and being relatively new to Wikipedia don't feel comfortable commenting on how well you meet it's institutional criteria; to me the tone seemed appropriate and informative. After some hard work, I did manage to find three or four very minor language edits to perform. The article overall is very clearly written. One remaining query: in Operation Cage: do you mean 'no direct evidence linked them to the attack' ? (That's my guess.) Tkotc (talk) 09:00, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, that's what I meant, the source says "Although there is no direct evidence linking them to the latest attacks".Tygerpencil (talk) 18:42, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

this is my first original article - so any feedback about anything is welcome

Hey! I recently started a wikipedia account and needed help moving an article about a craft brewery in Boulder, Colorado called Avery Brewing Company from my user space to live space. I received some help in effort to better my article and I believe I fulfilled all the requirements. Could someone please help me move it to live space or let me know if there is anything else I have to do? thank you!

The Grand Technion Energy Program (GTEP) of Technion -Israel Institute of Technology is a new center of energy research and education in Israel. This article reviews its origin, areas of expertise and research, and programs of graduate study.

This is an article about one of the foremost scholars in an area that does not get enough attention from this encylcopedia, despite its popularity in academia and Hayes' notability within the study of Classical Judaica and midrashic-talmudic studies in the United States. I was quite surprised to discover it did not exist, given that she has perhaps published reviews, articles, journals, and books on par with almost any academic in the field today.

I am wondering if someone could just review this article, make any small changes (although someone deleted some of her work before, which I don't think is justified, given she is an academic), and if someone could eventually remove the "it's new" thing at the top, after helping to change what needs to be changed. Thanks a lot!
