SEGA

This account has been brought to my attention as likely to be the latest incarnation of the banned user SEGA, who has used nearly 100 socks in the past. The subtle alterations to genre and date information combined with fair use image uploading fits this user's MO as I understand it. IPs historically used by SEGA are identified in past requests made on this page. WjBscribe 13:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Historically-used IP's:

No need for the history of SEGA - he's community-banned, and it's not going to be lifted anytime soon.

Anyways, I blocked 67.33.61.18 and 68.112.18.13 last week as SEGA, on the basis of behavioural evidence and IP similarity/ISP data. I'm slightly more hesitant to do it with this new account, though (which was brought to my attention by someone else), because I lack the IP data with the username, and don't want to mistakenly bite the new user. I was wondering if I could have a technically-based judgement on the IP similarity, just to be sure. Cheers, Daniel 01:47, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user now has 70+ confirmed sockpuppets, see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of SEGA. Recently, GlennGoins (talk · contribs) said on my talk page that "SEGA will never ever die. Fuck you". In the past 24-28 hours, RunLikeAnAntelope (talk · contribs) has re-uploaded several album cover images that SEGA socks originally uploaded. I noticed this, but decided not to do anything, since the user was following policy this time by using rationales. But, the user also created several pages, which some I will list below, that have been sent to WP:AFD. Steph11 (talk · contribs), who was one of the original possible sockpuppets (see bottom of this request), has returned after a year to vote on these AfD's. While I personnally think these articles should stay, I still think that vote stacking is bad and decided to bring this here to confirm these two are sockpuppets. Thanks! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 17:41, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed. Steph11 = RunLikeAnAntelope.  Inconclusive with respect to SEGA, whose edits are stale (matching against previous socks not helpful either). Voice-of-All 18:51, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user now has 70+ confirmed sockpuppets, see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of SEGA. Recently, GlennGoins (talk · contribs) said on my talk page that "SEGA will never ever die. Fuck you". These new users have popped up and removed notices from images that SEGA sockpuppets had originally uploaded, so I figured it would be best to ask for a checkuser on them to be sure. UPDATE: LevelHead22 (talk · contribs) and BlackRain1975 (talk · contribs) have been vandalizing my user page with SEGA sockpuppet accusations. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user now has 70+ confirmed sockpuppets, see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of SEGA. GlennGoins (talk · contribs) said on my talk page that "SEGA will never ever die. NickMargaux (talk · contribs) made edits to Page McConnell and Jon Fishman, removing pictures mentioned in the above edits to my talk page. All other usernames have highly suspect edits to pages of particular interest of SEGA socks. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 23:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user now has 70+ confirmed sockpuppets, see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of SEGA. This new user has very similar editing habits and/or interests that former SEGA sockpuppets had. Rumitoid (talk · contribs) had a suspected sockpuppet of SEGA notice placed on their page, but it was removed by OnWIthTheBodyCount (talk · contribs). This user has 40+ confirmed sockpuppets, see Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of SEGA. Since the fourth RFC against this user was declined because of no arbitration ruling, a ruling was made and is now archived at Wikipedia:Community_sanction_noticeboard/Archive6#Community_ban_on_User:SEGA. Eight new usernames were created since the last RFC and have mainly focused on Marc Daubert and derivative articles. The users MoRonHater (talk · contribs) & EditPolice (talk · contribs) focused on WP:PRODing articles I have created after I put one on Parlor Tricks. These may or may not stem from the IP 68.112.20.9, which is very very close to SEGA's old IP of 68.112.25.197 (talk · contribs). -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Highly suspect image uploads of Image:PageMcConnell221.jpg and Image:JonFishman218.jpg lead me to find the original photographs at [1]. When IP users removed the photos from the infoboxes at Page McConnell and Jon Fishman, FrankStevens2007 (talk · contribs) reply was: "???? I am the co-creator of the old Phish Phactory website (1998-2003). These are my personal photos taken on the Fall 2000 tour. My email is [email protected] if you have any questions". Other edits are similar to SEGA and other sockpuppets mentioned below. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 04:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: - in accordance with code letter B (Evasion of bans or other remedies issued by the arbitration committee), please provide a link to the closed arbitration case. --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 06:56, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - what do you mean by "closed arbitration case"? This being the third re-file of an RFC, I had listed "B" as a code letter in the last two RFC's dealing (shown below) that resulted in bans and I didn't do this for those. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 17:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The arbitration case where the user was banned by the Arbitration Committee. Real96 20:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - Okay, I removed the "B" code letter then. No one mentioned it in the other SEGA (talk · contribs) cases below that I had used that code letter on, so this was my first time asked about it. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 21:15, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information needed Diff of the discussion that led to the community ban. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 21:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also added NewYorkMan332211 (talk · contribs). This user and FrankStevens2007 (talk · contribs) have both uploaded the same images at Marc Daubert that SEGA sockpuppets that were blocked LivinAfter (talk · contribs) and MarcDau (talk · contribs). In particular, MarcDau's edit summary of "Sourced correctly as an album cover. I scanned it, it belongs to me" is similar to FrankSteven2007's Image:Daubs.jpg. This image has also been reuploaded by Marc daubert (talk · contribs) asserting that he is in fact Marc Daubert. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:50, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
SEGA's block log shows this page as the reason for the block. There are already 30+ confirmed sockpuppets for SEGA from previous RFC's shown below. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined I won't consider it a community ban on the strength of the block log. For it to be a community ban, there has to be discussion (usually on AN/I) and consensus. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 17:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the fact that this puppetter let an alarming message on my talk page at User talk:Moeron#I've got to hand it to you saying that a ban won't stop them, I have seen these names on the same pages this puppetter used to target doing the same type of edits. Also, BuddyOfMine (talk · contribs) left an attack on User talk:Anger22 here. Anyway, I am requesting a checkuser on these users due to the parallel edits. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 15:00, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked the underlying IP. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 16:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Walterkolosky has inserted the same picture and has the same edit-type of Mahav (talk · contribs) and Mr. Mahavishnu (talk · contribs), who were blocked as sockpuppets of SEGA. Ncfd, as evidenced at Marc Daubert's history as well as Parlor Tricks, has an edit-style and has uploaded the same image as newly blocked MarcDau (talk · contribs) (who asserts the image is fair) as well as SEGA-puppets Solohann (talk · contribs) (when he continued to edit Daubert's page after Solohann was blocked), Sillyputty1 (talk · contribs), and a slew of others. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 19:13, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anger22 (talk · contribs) had expressed concern to me at User talk:Moeron#SEGA creeping in behind the block? that this user may have been circumventing their block using the one IP address mentioned above that wasn't blocked below. Up until now, I decided to just watch for further problems. This evening, Solohann (talk · contribs) began uploading images and adding them to pages in a confrontational manner used by SEGA (talk · contribs) and their socks. I admit some fault is on me, since the new user patterned their uploads on a previous picture of mine I used for the Phil Lesh page. However, I have (tried to) remedy this by requesting that image be deleted. However, based on the users blocked below and their liberal interpretation of WP:FU, I have request a checkuser to play safe. In particular, the edit summaries of both Lillywhite Lilith (talk · contribs) and Solohann (talk · contribs) are very similar. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 04:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed. They're almost all on the same dynamic DNS address (not subnet, specific address) except for SEGA, Ideapower, and the 66.190 IP, which are unrelated to any of these. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 16:00, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed but information Note: Don't add things to a list here, please. There's no logical way I'm going to see those new entries in a closed RFCU; I just happened to notice this on my watchlist. In the future, put new entries after my responses, if the request is still open as this was. Anyway, the new ones are confirmed, except for Rockytop and the IP, for whom there is no obvious relationship. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 03:43, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of request -- original request available on talk.

  1. Almost all of them have multiple image warnings. One of the reasons I believe these users are all one in the same is that the user makes new screen names to avoid his past with deleted images. The admin Meegs has even warned Padgett22 and Onlyslighted already about being the same user at User talk:Onlyslighted#User:Padgett22.
  2. Nomoretears & Lizards were blocked with "expiry time of indefinite (completely ignoring copyright policy)".
  3. A number of the newer users are also uploading band photos from "press kits", though some of the pictures are leading hits on image search engines like Google.com and Yahoo.com.
  4. MoreronCantContributeHeOnlyErases & 68.112.25.197 make similar edits: [2] [3] [4] [5]
  5. SEGA and 68.112.25.197 make similar edits: [6] [7] [8] [9]
  6. AlexKidd11's first and only edit to a DRV SEGA started: [10]. When noted, removed by the IP: [11] [12]
  7. Steph11 makes similar attacks: [13], and widely re-inserts FU violations previously removed: contribs
  8. Padgett22 making similar insertions and attacks: [14] [15] [16] [17]. Note that Padgett22 is suspected of being Onlyslighted, above.
  9. Multiple users think the images are being "deleted," including an AN/I thread: [18] [19] [20]
  10. Accounts seem to tag-team, re-uploading, re-inserting, using similar means and commentary, including Image:FFN.jpg, Image:P0018721.jpg, Image:Moeron22.jpg (NSFW) (See lower parts of full request)

For these reasons, I am request a checkuser on users. I have dealt with this IP and its many faces and image violations since early 2006, but the creation of the username and the attack has made my finally decide to bring this to WP:RFC. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 22:34, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
