Crash Bandicoot Series Characters Template

Rugby Union - Six Nations

Hi,

For the Six Nations could we have a template, similar to the one found on the Tri Nations Series page? Just links to any/all championship pages plus teams involved etc.

Hmm, maybe we should wait until the rest of the tournament pages are created. Right there is just 05 and 06 on the template, which looks kind of weird. Scary

• Since Wikipedia is not censored I am not sure if this would gain support. A template you might use is, {{Warning}}, which should be used as follows: {{Warning|Insert your text here}}. Inappropriate Content Templates

Wikipedia is not censored, but it would be ideal to warn readers with templates that say things such as:

"This article contains profane language, and might not be appropriate for readers under the age of 18."

and:

"This article contains explicit images, and might not be appropriate for readers under the age of 18."

Infobox Polish Navy

Could someone please change the logic on Template:Infobox Polish Navy so the work "surfaced" does not appear as a row sub header, unless the submerged value is provided as well? First encountered that over on List of Victory ships, where a few hundred ships w/o articles were all listed as red links. sed took care of that. Easy enough to convert them back to links as the articles are written.--J Clear 12:09, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Tales of Symphonia

I'd like to request a template that would link together articles related to the videogame Tales of Symphonia. There are a number of articles built around the subject, but they are scattered haphazardly in links. One trying to find information on various subjects would be forced to either search individually or search for links within independent articles.

Here are some of the articles that would be linked together: Lloyd Irving Mithos Yggdrasill Cruxis Kratos Aurion Eternal Sword Desians Kharlan War Martel Sylvarant Tethe'alla And there are more still. Having one common template to link these together would be, I feel, very beneficial.

Is Category:Tales of Symphonia characters not sufficient somehow? If you make sure all of the characters in in the category (by adding [[Category:Tales of Symphonia characters]]) at the bottom, they will all be in this category. -- Rick Block (talk) 03:02, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Be aware of talk page

I would like to have a template which read more or less the following:

This article has been the subject of extensive discussions concerning its wording. Please consult the talk page before performing any substantial changes to this article.

The rationale is the article Euro which has had a longer discussion of wether one should write 5 euro or 5 euros. A consensus seems to have been established, but every so often someone comes in and changes all occurences of euro into euros. I would like a template to warn them not to be too bold about editing an article which has had extensive discussions before reaching consensus. The templates {{disputed*}} could be used, but they are meant for talk pages, and this template should go on the main page. The article is not really in any factual dispute, as a consensus seems to have been reached. The template should not discourage boldness either, just make sure that no substantial changes are made before the talk page is consulted. Bfg 16:51, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

In general, people add statements like yours as comments, so that they are only visible when editing the article. You could add the following to the beginning of the article:

I think that such a warning simply would not be enough, given most edits in such a big article is done on the subheading level.

What we could need might be a template that was only visible on the edit page, but would be visible for all editing. Would that be feasible? Bfg 14:46, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Trademark template

I was looking for a treademark template to add to a page BitTorrent to indicate that the name BitTorrent is a trademark. It seems to me that a template that puts a small box indicating that the word/phrase given as a paramater is a trademark (or registered trademark) would be usefull on many pages. Evolving technology??

Or something similar. See Blu-ray Disc which at the moment is using the "current event" template at Template:Current; however this is not the purpose of that template, and there does not seem to be an appropriate one available. The purpose of a new template would be to replace Template:Future product once the product was released, but still rapidly evoloving. --Notmicro 02:14, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

You might want to bring this up at Portal:Technology (or its talk page). There doesn't seem to be a category for emerging technologies (although there is an article Emerging technologies). Request for Nightclub template

Hi. For the past 2 hours I have been looking up for a template that could fit my article. The article is about a nightclub. So, I have been looking at other nightclubs, to copy the source template, just to find out this was in vane. The closest possible template was the "Infobox:Company", but still there was more information needed, such as Dj residents, Type of Music, Dress Code, Open Days, Owner, and so on. And because I saw other nightclubs enlisted aswell, maybe this can benefit the article by showing more information.

I came across with a couple of London-based clubs, Fabric ([1]) and Astoria ([2]), both which have a "UK Music Venue" template, which I couldn't seem to modify and which I couldn't found elsewhere but in their source.

Such information in a Nightclub Template should be well acepted by the articles in need of this.

Information needed (and if possible organized in groups such as "venue, licensing, and business" in the uk music venue template): Company name, company logo, compnay type, foundation, industry, homepage, resident djs, music, owner, spaces, layout, & capacity.

I tried using the {{and = and | by copying other references but it was not sufficiently accurate and I was sent to the sandbox, which doesn't help as I don't know the HTML and in the sandbox have nothing to copy from.

Template:As of

Given that the use of As of is considered a violation of standards (but is used due to lack of a good alternative), I was fiddling with using a template. However, I keep running into dead-ends. My current solution is workable, but has the cost of a blank space. Please see my page for the sample, see Template:As of for what I have so far, and Wikipedia_talk:As_of to see the discussion about As of. --Scott McNay 06:30, 30 July 2006 (UTC).

Update: I made a category, which seems to be the best solution so far. Changing the category name to something like "To be reviewed in" or "Needs review in" might be a good idea also, as in "To be reviewed in 2007" or "Needs review in 2007". --Scott McNay 07:12, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Template for emergency medical conditions

It would be useful to have a template that refers people to their local emergency phone number based on IP geography: in the US, it would say "call 911 immediately", in Australia, it would say "call 000 immediately". At present, pages either have to bifurcate (a bad idea in an emergency), pick one, or omit the instruction entirely. Although wikipedia is obviously not a good reference for emergency medical problems, many emergency conditions (e.g., stroke, heart attack) come with confusion, so a victim might end up consulting wikipedia anyway. A template that refers users to their local emergency phone number is the best way to fight this.

Because of proxies and other technical limitations, it might be better to say "call xxx or your local emergency phone number immediately". This in turn could link to a page listing emergency numbers for various countries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vectro (talk • contribs)

Templates don't have access to the IP address of the viewer, so this is not currently possible. We could create a template that includes a link to Emergency telephone number which lists such numbers by country. -- Rick Block (talk) 03:39, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Is there another one that's close (perhaps template:Frank Zappa)? If so, you can just copy and paste it, or ask it's creator (which you can find from its history) to make a Captain Beefheart version. Minor Edits

CSD

Hi, I'd like to see a template that lets new users know (similar to the one for AfD's) that the article they just created is about to be speedy deleted, and to tag it with {{hangon}} if they wish to contest the deletion. I assume you mean like Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace#Deletion notifications? It should be no problem to create template:CSDWarning and template:CSDNote. Whether they'll be regularly used is perhaps another matter. CSD is really intended for articles admins are permitted to delete on sight, so there's no guarantee any such article will be tagged before it's deleted. Perhaps CSD should be changed so it does not apply to "good faith" articles from new users. -- Rick Block (talk) 16:14, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Actor Template

HI, my first time doing an article (I couldn't find another name to best describe it) and I sort of need a template to put in the following information:

• A photo of the actor (centered)
• The date and location of the author's birth
• Occupation.
• Gender
• His most notable works.

There are a variety of templates that already exist for this. If you look at an existing article for a similar actor, there will almost certainly already be such a template used in the article. To reuse an existing template, just copy and paste the reference (from another article) and correct the content for the new article. For example, template:Infobox Celebrity is used in the article on Harrison Ford. Unencyclopedic Section Template

There is a template to suggest an article is unenecyclopedic, but I am coming across a number of radio station articles with schedules that are unencyclopedic, although the radio station has a vaild reason for a place in Wikipedia. I think it would be useful if a template message (with a name along the lines of template:off-sandbox) was created that reads:

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. While you are free to make test edits in the sandbox, please do not post copyrighted, offensive, slanderous, or libelous content in it. This kind of content is not necessary for testing.

Another template, named something like template:sandbox-head, could read:

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. You may make test edits in the sandbox, but please leave the sandbox heading alone.

Talk discussion template

One template that I think would be useful is something one would add when discussing on user pages. For example, if I and User:Bob were having a conversation, he would first leave a message on my talk page. As courtesy, when I respond, I post the response at his talk page (so he gets the "new messages" warning). However, when I post the comments on Bob's talk page, I could insert a template that would read: "This discussion originated at User talk:CrazyInSane", to allow for easy access to the rest of the conversation. Template for talk page notifications (a copy at the bottom)

I need a way to automatically place a template or a text notice both at the top and at the bottom of my talk page. If I simply copy the template/text to the bottom, it moves away with each new message as using + to add new section is a common method.

Saskatchewan template request

I'm requesting a template be created to replace the code at Aberdeen No. 373, Saskatchewan, Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, Blucher No. 343, Saskatchewan, Lost River No. 313, Saskatchewan, and various other Saskatchewan articles. Apparently this table is supposed to show which communities lie to the N/S/E/W of the community in question (though I do not know why this is relevant; as far as I know no other state/province pages contain templates like this). I don't know much about Saskatchewan so I don't know why such tables even exist. I've asked on the talk pages, but without much success. But as long as they do exist, we might as well have a pretty template, instead of a bunch of unwieldy code. --Fang Aili ^talk 14:28, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

ActiveDiscuss and Controversial templates

I would like to see 2 templates created for placement at the top of an article that would be similar to the existing templates ActiveDiscuss and Controversial (currently only for talk page). They might be called ActiveDiscuss2 and Controversial2. This is the current ActiveDiscuss template:

In addition please modify the Controversial template so that it is suitable for placement at the top of an article. The current Controversial template reads:

This is a controversial topic, which may be under dispute. Please read this talk page and discuss substantial changes here before making them. Make sure you supply full citations when adding information to highly controversial articles.

Please ignore the misplaced warning as I am putting the template here as an example.

I believe these two additional templates would reduce edit wars as people would need to discuss substantial changes before making them.

fansite warning

I think it would be very useful to have a fansite warning template, similar to {{advert}}, and probably named {{fansite}}. Something like:

It should probably also add the article to one of the articles that need cleanup categories.

Project Needs Update

My suggestion is a template to be placed on Wikipedia-namespace pages that need updating (e.g. collaboration pages that are inactive, or RfAs open longer than they should be). What I specifically have in mind for the template's first usage is on Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations, which has multiple mottos that are over 7 days old, needing attention from an overseer. The template could look something like:

This project page needs to be updated. Parts of this page have existed longer than {{{1}}}, and are in need of closure/archival. Overseers or experienced contributors to this page: Please fix the page as necessary, and remove this template when done.

Illegal immigration to the United States

We need a template for "The Illegal alien debate in the United States". I tried to create one, but I'm just not an artist. I need someone with artistic talent. I'd like a template similar to the two on the Intelligent Design page. The picture selected needs to be really neutral as this is a politically charged issue and we don't want to show bias in any direction. Some of the links which can go in the template include, Illegal immigration to the United States Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution United States immigration debate Anchor baby H.R. 4437 2006 United States immigration reform protests S. 2611 Federation for American Immigration Reform National Council of La Raza La Raza Center for Immigration Studies and Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 There should be room for more articles as this subject seems to spawn articles like nobody's business. -Psychohistorian 19:53, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Television films

Templates exist for both television series and films, but as far as I can tell, no template exists for television films, and neither of the other templates covers the information which is applicable to these. It could also be used for miniseries. I think a template should be made with the following fields:

• format (e.g., genre)

• writer
• starring
• music
• opentheme
• endtheme

• last_aired

TVR template

Hope I make myself clear.

I desire a template to go on my talk page, and, since I'm a novice at HTML stuff, I hope one of you guys would be kind enough to help.

This user is a Lexus enthusiast.

Right - I'd prefer it if it were in exactly the same format as above (same box, same size etc), I'd like it to say 'This user is a TVR enthusiast' in the right-hand box like it does in the above, and use [this image] as the picture on the left, same size preferably.
