Why Isn't There an Article on Ibrahim El-Osery[edit]
This question applies to both this category and Humanities. Ibrahim El-Osery is a Doctor of nuclear engineering who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, but I don't see an article about him. Whyzat? foobar (talk) 21:16, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- Because this site is run and maintained entirely by volunteers like you. Have you found multiple professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic articles that are specifically about El-Osery but independent of him? Ian.thomson (talk) 21:20, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- Note that he didn't personally win the prize, but merely claims to be part of some working group or division within the organization that did (see List of Nobel Peace Prize laureates#Laureates). I do not see this person mentioned in our article about the winning group (International Atomic Energy Agency) or in the Nobel Prize announcement itself ([1] and subpages thereof). Notability is not inherited, but instead (as Ian.thomson says) must be direct and specific. DMacks (talk) 21:31, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- While notability is not inherited, actually winning (i.e. being personally named as the winner of) a Nobel Prize, would almost definitely imply notability e.g. WP:Academic. Being part of an organisation that won, is a different matter. Nil Einne (talk) 22:57, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

- The 2005 prize was awarded jointly to the International Atomic Energy Agency and Mohamed ElBaradei. Ibrahim El-Osery inherits some credit for this for his role in the IAEA, but it's wrong to say that "he won the Nobel Peace Prize". Andy Dingley (talk) 21:37, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
