Not discussed in any detail at the target. Qwerfjkltalk 20:45, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. I redirected the page yesterday. It redirects to a list section, but I've just added a line there with original title/dir/screenwriter. And a mention and source in the Themes section of that article that certainly needs improvement.-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 21:35, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Two substantive mentions at the target. Better than a redlink. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:18, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

C string[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep CString, move C string (disambiguation) to C string. -- Tavix (talk) 18:50, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Two similar redirects should target a single page. But which one? Kpratter (talk) 13:40, 2 October 2023 (UTC) โ€” Kpratter (talk ยท contribs) is a confirmed sock puppet of Dolyn (talk ยท contribs). [reply]

  • Keep as is. These are not the same thing, and are separate titles and it's neither necessary nor ideal in this case to have them matching, per WP:SMALLDETAILS and WP:DIFFCAPS. A CString is a concept which exists primarily in C++/MFC, and it seems sensible for that to remain redirected to Null-terminated string, since at heart that's what it is.[1] C string on the other hand, I'd imagine C string handling is the correct redirect. I suppose C strings are generally null-terminated, but given that we have a specific article on the whole concept of strings in C, that's probably best. Overall, I see no reason to change anything. ย โ€”ย Amakuru (talk) 16:11, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep CString but change C string to C string (disambiguation).Spitzak (talk) 22:10, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Replace with disambguation page and point the other there, and list both uses on the disambiguation page -- 67.70.25.175 (talk) 03:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the one without a space can go to null-terminated string, though anybody with more knowledge about the other subjects on the disambiguation page can indicate if they are ever written without a space. Spitzak (talk) 17:03, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep as is. I agree with Amakuru. CString is a type of null-terminated string, and is mentioned explicitly in that article. If you were talking about C strings and wanted to link the term to an article, C string handling would be a logical and unsurprising destination. mjec (t/c) 02:28, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I have reverted the change the nom had made at the dab page one minute before this nomination, of making a data structure the primary topic. Jay ๐Ÿ’ฌ 18:44, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In hindsight, the nom's edit at the dab was correct and he was following MOS:DABPRIMARY. The data structure has been the primary topic since 2011. I have reverted my revert. Jay ๐Ÿ’ฌ 06:17, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Googling C string pulls up results for C-string (clothing) as well. Is WP:SMALLDETAILS enough here? Not sure; worth noting C-string points to the DAB, though I would think that has a better case for SMALLDETAILS. CString should definitely point somewhere coding, and I'll trust the others that the current target is best, since I have no real knowledge of coding. cstring also exists and points to C string handling โ€“ is that good? (Once again, little coding knowledge.) Skarmory (talk โ€ข contribs) 03:35, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Consensus seems to point towards keeping CString as is, per WP:SMALLDETAILS. However, there are still a few loose ends from recent discussions... one could even call them loose Strings which need to be "C"-n...

  • Keep CString per others; the non-spaced term is a shorthand to differentiate functions in other programming languages that mimic the way that C handles strings instead of the way that the other language handles them natively, which is generally down to dynamic allocation and null termination. The current target is a better explanation than C string handling; if you're programming in C you have no need to talk about CStrings, they're just Strings (at least, this is my not-very-experienced understanding). Move C string (disambiguation) over C string as the disambiguation lists other reasonable targets, none of which are primary (keeping in mind WP:SYSTEMICBIAS). Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:52, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate and keep per User:Spitzak and User:Ivanvector. If a C programmer searches for "C string", they're probably looking for C string handling, whereas if a C++ programmer searches for it, they're probably looking for Null-terminated string. I don't see how either target can be the primary topic for that search term, so it needs to be disambiguated (in other words, move C string (disambiguation) to C string). On the other hand a C programmer is unlikely to search for "CString" โ€“ย that search term is pretty unambiguous so it should be kept. โ€”Mx. If this redirect shall exist, it could go to ACH (wrestler) or a general disambiguation page for acronyms. I have no idea why it goes to a double-redirect for TD Thomas (wrestler). Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:20, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
