Role of women in orthodox[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. Complex/Rational 22:17, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As this could refer to either Orthodox Judaism or Orthodox Christianity, and possibly other religions, I recommend deleting this and letting the search bar handle it. —Lights and freedom (talk ~ contribs) 20:38, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Search doesn't handle this brilliantly, but that's at least in part due to us not having generic articles about the role of women in any orthodox religion - the closest match I can find is Category:Orthodox Judaism and women which while arguably a slightly better fit than the current target does not resolve the main issue. Thryduulf (talk) 10:16, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: nonsensical title. Veverve (talk) 15:51, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Complex/Rational 22:16, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nonstandard spelling of "forever"; not a useful redirect. The draft has no history besides redirection, so it's unclear why it was created in the first place. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:14, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: I assume this was an attempt at creating a redirect via draft as opposed to WP:AFC/R. Regardless, if this were a mainspace draft I would support deletion of it. While Wakanda Forever is a phrase associated with the film, this spelling of it is not particularly commonly used in relation to the film. TartarTorte 20:53, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dies piter[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) Duckmather (talk) 19:00, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear connection to target. Has a resemblance to the root words, djous patēr, but no indication those were ever transliterated in this way. (NPP action) Edward-Woodrowtalk 18:10, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Remove: we do redirect common misspellings of an article's name, and so should redirect obvious or common misspellings of redirect titles (here, Deus Pater?), but we equally don't redirect every such misspelling. I can't see a compelling case to retain this one: I wonder if there's any way to pull data to see how often, if at all, the redirect has been called upon. Struck: I'm persuaded by the points made below, and my archaic Latin is clearly not up to snuff. UndercoverClassicist T·C 18:12, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@UndercoverClassicist: you mean like page views? Edward-Woodrowtalk 18:26, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
...yes, precisely like that. Thank you and apologies! UndercoverClassicist T·C 20:49, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep + Clarification: "Diespiter" is Archaic latin for "Jupiter".[1] It was the correct spelling of "Jupiter" in Archaic Latin, also known as Old Latin. Spaces were not regular or canonical in Latin before the 7th centyre, so "Dies piter" and "Diespiter" are equivalent and should go to the same article. E.g., it would have been spelled "ARMAVIRUMQUECANO", not "Arma virumque cano", but we are happy to add spaces where logical: "Senatus populusque romanus", not "Senatuspopulusqueromanus".
"Dies" = day
"Piter" = father
"Dies piter" was the day father god, but it got shortened over time to "Diespiter" => "Iupiter" ("Jupiter")
Spaces weren't introduced in Latin until the 7th century, well after "Jupiter" and "Diespiter".[2] DenverCoder9 (talk) 19:17, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Brittanica chooses to spell as "Dies-piter" with a hyphen, but the fact is that all spellings are valid, "Dies-piter", "Dies piter", "Diespiter", since Old Latin did not have a fixed notion of separate vs. combined words.[3]
Note that we redirect "Dyaus-Pitṛ" and "Dyaus Pitṛ", but don't redirect "Dyauspitṛ". On the article itself, it's spelled "Dyauspitṛ", so we should probably change this. DenverCoder9 (talk) 19:25, 1 October 2023 (UTC) DenverCoder9 (talk) 19:25, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done. DenverCoder9 (talk) 19:29, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, obvious variation of an Archaic Latin name. I would have expected "Dies Pater", which in fact exists as a redirect to the article. "Diespiter" is mentioned in the lead; perhaps the article could use a section or subsection on the origin of the name with all of the common orthographic variants (probably treating the name as two parts, and indicating that it can be spelled with or without a space, to reduce the number of combinations that need to be given)—nearly all of them reconstructed, but used in modern literature about Roman/Indo-European mythology. Otherwise we may give the impression that there's only one correct way to spell it. P Aculeius (talk) 12:42, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear connection to target. Edward-Woodrowtalk 18:04, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

this (like 3CY) is the rendering in Latin script of the cyrillic 'ЗСУ' the native acronym for 'Armed Forces of Ukraine'—blindlynx 18:23, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep: It seems to be rather non-ambiguous. The only uses other than as an attempt at writing the Cyrllic characters in English, are as some products SKUs, but it seems like a vast majority of the use is people trying to figure out what 3CY means in relation to Ukraine. While the lower case version is less likely to search, but still plausible enough that it seems worth keeping. TartarTorte 18:33, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary cross-namespace redirect. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:46, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move the target to this title. Surprisingly, the target looks like a real article, not a project page, so it should belong in articlespace. It can be AfD'd if need be. Duckmather (talk) 17:47, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Indeed, this was created in articlespace and moved to its current location back in 2007 Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 07:24, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Return Wikipedia:Wikirage to mainspace at Wikirage, then retarget there – if someone wants to AFD it, sure, and it may just get sent back to project-space, but I don't see any reason the unilateral move was beneficial (and there was no reason given for it). It has referencing; it should go through AFD if we want it out of mainspace, not be sent to the backend where nobody will see it and it's less likely to be contested. Unnecessary cross-namespace redirects. If the language articles in question are "retired" (apparently amounting to a deletion that should have used AfD but didn't), then they should not have pointers from mainspace. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:46, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per nom. Also: these deprecated articles were well-intended, but essentially OR-based interpretations of an extent classification proposal. These spurious concepts haven't produced citogenesis (with one shameful exception by a colleague in the field), so they are improbable search topics anyway. –Austronesier (talk) 15:56, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not plausible or necessary, especially because the shutdown didn't happen Esolo5002 (talk) 05:43, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Non-neutral; implausible misspelling. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 11:12, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - "U" and "I" are next to one another on the keyboard. Plausible misspelling. If this is deleted, 2023 United States federal government shutdown should also be deleted. --Jax 0677 (talk) 12:39, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    The government is scheduled to stay open until at least November 17th. Cwater1 (talk) 19:37, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Clearly not meeting WP:NPOV. Spurious idea that it is a plausible misspelling opens the floodgates to hundreds of other misspellings which the Wikipedia search software happily works out correctly in the suggestions it offers readers, without such redirects. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:32, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom, Shhhnotsoloud, and Mike Turnbull. "Shitdown" is a bit too unfortunate of a misspelling for me to forgive and could be seen as failing WP:NPOV. Askarion 23:50, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep per Jax 0677 -- tag with {{R from avoided double redirect|2023 United States federal government shutdown}} and {{R from misspelling|2023 United States federal government shutdown}} -- 67.70.25.175 (talk) 04:23, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat to my shock this isn't speediable as a leftover from a move to the correct namespace, but instead was a deliberate creation so needs to go here. Anyway, this sort of deep internal category does not deserve a cross-namespace redirect. * Pppery * it has begun... 05:20, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
