Friedrich Linde[edit]

The result of the discussion was disambiguate. signed, Rosguill talk 18:37, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Used in two articles. In both instances it redirects to the wrong subject, whose Germanized name was also "Friedrich Linde". However, the subject is never referred to by this name, being a Russian of German descent. Jay D. Easy (t • c) 20:18, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Harmless. Not entirely sure why the nom is considering deletion, since this is clearly the Germanized name of the target article's subject. A Google search does show results related to Fedor Linde, though it appears that he didn't use his Germanized name that often. CycloneYoris talk! 08:08, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect capitalization ★Trekker (talk) 22:24, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as ASCII-only version of Publius Ælius Hadrian. 1234qwer1234qwer4 23:01, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per 1234qwer1234qwer4. "AE" is a perfectly plausible way to type "Æ." Regards, SONIC678 00:15, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lean keep, for the reason mentioned by 1234quer and Sonic678, although I note that someone typing this would probably finish with "Hadrianus", not "Hadrian"; i.e. anyone typing his Roman name would probably not anglicize the cognomen. But that's "probably", so I can imagine a slight possibility someone would come up with this. P Aculeius (talk) 11:16, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as AE might be a reasonable variant for Æ --Lenticel (talk) 13:50, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not seeing any evidence of usage of either alternative name, and am particularly confused as to how both of these names could apply. Delete unless evidence of use can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 17:12, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete the first, and delete the second per nom. While yes, it might be perceived as Monsters, Inc. 0 since it's a prequel as the creator said in the initial edit summary, I haven't really found any reliable sources supporting this title (just stuff about images, time marks, debate points, a Funko Pop figure, and a bunch of other unrelated stuff; a few do mention Monsters University, but not as another title). As for the second; results don't mention it as another title; and there's results for the exact text on websites in Arabic, 1.5-inch merchandise, one or two mirrors of Wikipedia, among others; but none for Monsters University. We can definitely be rid of the second, though I'm not 100% sure of the same for the first. Regards, SONIC678 00:11, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Formosa[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep. Consensus was that since the term refers to the island, it should redirect to somewhere that describes Taiwan as an island, which the current target seems to be the best at doing. (non-admin closure)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 17:36, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It should redirect to Taiwan, in the same way Siam or Persia redirect their current names. Failing that, it should redirect to History of Taiwan. It is more of a historical term rather than a geographical one. Vpab15 (talk) 14:57, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Formosa" means "beautiful island" and was used for the purpose of complimenting the Taiwan island as such an island. It is supposed to redirect to a geographical entity rather than a political entity. And currently, the closest geographical article is Geography of Taiwan. So I think the redirection is fine as it is. --Matt Smith (talk) 01:34, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: The article on Taiwan is about the political entity of the Republic of China which includes (slightly more) than what was formerly known as Formosa. Redirection to Geography of Taiwan seems to be appropriate. One could discuss if per the standard set by Ireland vs. Republic of Ireland that Geography of Taiwan be moved to Taiwan with Taiwan moved to Republic of China, but that would involve a WP:RM. Given the pages where they are at now, I argue for keep. TartarTorte 12:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ireland contains both the Republic and Northern Ireland, so it is a different scenario. Formosa is just a historical name for Taiwan, just as Ceylon is the historic name for Sri Lanka and redirects to it. Vpab15 (talk) 14:08, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's a historical name for the Taiwan island, not for the Republic of China. The Taiwan article is about the Republic of China. Please check the "Formation" section in the country infobox. Those are major events of the Republic of China. Matt Smith (talk) 04:30, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Formosa" has been used to describe the island for hundreds of years, and was long synonymous with "Taiwan" (the island and whatever government it had). It did mean Qing Taiwan, Japanese Taiwan or ROC Taiwan at various times in history. Now I'd argue that "Formosa" is a bit dated in Western use, and less synonymous with the current-day political entity (although "Formosa" has been popular with pro-independence groups in Taiwan). Either keep or move Formosa (disambiguation) to Formosa work for me here. —Kusma (talk) 08:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect from a film title to a list of films that doesn't have this title in it. Even if it were listed there, simply redirecting a film title to a generic list of films from its country is not reasonable or useful at all -- a film that isn't deemed individually notable could legitimately be redirected to its director if he or she has an article, or to a specific film series if it was part of one, but not just to a general list of Albanian films. Bearcat (talk) 11:56, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Likely misleading due to the capitalization (redirects to Games magazine). Some sources (ex. [1]) suggest there was an entity called Games Magazine, but it's unclear if this is the entity they discuss, and the current redirect target does not suggest the magazine was entitled Games Magazine. This was created under the wrong title. In May, I moved it to the correct title based on a request by Animalparty, and resolved to wait a bit to see if pageviews dropped off, before RfDing. The incorrect title got all of 4 views in the month after the move, and 0 in the second month, so I think it can be safely deleted. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 06:23, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete and salt all Clearly misleading to have a redirect to an untitled game point to a game with a title, and at present there is no good target to point these to. I also suggest salting because this cycle will repeat every time a new Sonic game is announced. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 06:24, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Delete and salt per Mellohi. – The Grid (talk) 21:26, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Relisting for the opinion on salting. Although this is only for Sonic games, this may set a precedent for salting of other "Untitled" redirect titles. If another closer feels that the salting discussion is beyond the scope of this RfD and should instead be continued at an appropriate forum, example WT:Naming conventions (video games)#Naming convention for games that have yet to receive an official title (which may have been inconclusive), they may Delete without salting; or Delete and Salt if there is consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Jay (talk) 03:44, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete and salt, with the will to establish a precedent for those kind of 'Untitled' articles as per WP:CRYSTAL. Veverve (talk) 06:31, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as unneeded but I would prefer not salting. Sometimes, an upcoming untitled work garners a lot of attention, and is worthy of an article, and I'd prefer not to make the decision about that in advance of it happening. Fieari (talk) 07:26, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Usually the norm for just-announced sequels without an article is to either mention them on the franchise page (if it exists) or the page of the latest (or most relevant) installment of the franchise. I think those two ways usually work well enough until the sequel's name is revealed. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 03:35, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as per nom. WhenYouWiki (A person) (Talk) 10:34, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per nom but hold off on the WP:SALT. Protecting these titles from creation might complicate matters if there is not much info known about it yet. I second Fieari's argument above me. Regards, SONIC678 20:10, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all but do not salt. We never know if there will be another Sonic game in the future. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 05:05, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
