Frass valley[edit]

Originally created in 2006 as a stub about a fictional location in the film Sideways, it got turned into a redirect the following year. There doesn't appear to be any content about it on Wikipedia. – Uanfala (talk) 21:18, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. A fictional winery from one scene in a film that is barely mentioned at the parent article need not have a redirect. It's been a while since I've seen the film, but according to the article and a Google search the winery is actually "Frass Canyon". Normally I would argue to restore the stub and send to AfD to be procedurally correct in addressing the issue, but an incorrect name for a trivial fictional topic seems like a clear case for deletion. Obviously, if kept it should target the article about the film directly and not the disambiguation page. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:40, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Heuristic search[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Heuristic (computer science)#Search and delete, respectively. I'll tag the former with {{R with possibilities}}, since there's clearly agreement that a standalone article is practical and desirable. --BDD (talk) 15:29, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Sbalfour indicates that this redirect is not appropriate in edit summaries (it is not appropriate to redirect to that page. There is no appropriate page, no article, not even an appropriate article#section. The encyclopedia has a hole. DO NOT RESTORE!, it can't go there) then, changed the target to hunting from Heuristic without explaning the rationale. I'm unclear how this is a better topic and have noted that the user's talk page, but I think a discussion for consensus is warranted. Heuristic (computer science) may be a better target, as it states that A heuristic function, also simply called a heuristic, is a function that ranks alternatives in search algorithms. If that was the intended purpose of this redirect, perhaps it should be retitled to Heuristc (search). —Ost (talk) 19:56, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to chime in because I'm used to being a target as well as a shot. I searched the encyclopedia for a redirect, and concluded that the best result is to delete the page. We belch at deleting anything, and require an admin to delete an irrelevant page (blech!). Heuristic search is a broad and vague topic, and I could write that article (it's been my field for 27 years), but I'm not interested. It gets very technical very quick. The simple (wictionary-type) definition is that it's a rule of thumb that generally yields a relatively usable result within limited time and resource constraints. It's not quite the same as a mathematical approximation; a usable result can be quite exact - it's parameterized (or constrained) and within the parameters, it is exact. It occurs most often in a computer software context, subtext computer game trees, most references are with respect to common games like chess, checkers othello, go, connect-4. Sbalfour (talk) 23:03, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Deleting the page is different from blanking it; you blanked it. As WP:PAGEBLANKING says, "If you want a page to be deleted, don't blank that page; instead, request for deletion." If you think the redirect should be deleted, you should !vote to delete here. Biogeographist (talk) 00:47, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target; while PornTube is presumably a site that hosts a lot of amateur pornography, unless it's discussed at the target I think this redirect should be deleted. signed, Rosguill talk 15:55, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete PornTube is a live website but it is not mentioned anywhere in article-space that I can find, and most mentions in project space are using it as a generic representative of the type of site (e.g. "PornTube-type sites") rather then referencing it specifically. Thryduulf (talk) 13:05, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Enwiki seems to have nothing about it specifically. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:52, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Crandall High School[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. plicit 03:51, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The High School is not mentioned at the target, and given that there are other places called Crandall (see Crandall (disambiguation)#Places) this redirect is ambiguous and likely to cause confusion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 13:44, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. The school, with others, was mentioned in the target until March 2017, when a user removed them without explanation. I have added them back. - Jay (Talk) 18:26, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Search results show a few articles that mention Crandall High School, and they all appear to refer to this school. This originally was a redirect to Crandall Independent School District, which was WP:BLARed last year. If the school district article isn't reinstated, the current target is probably our best option. - Eureka Lott 20:57, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per Jay. Thryduulf (talk) 13:06, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Jay. Should there be multiples, then make sure the school is mentioned at the target articles. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 15:03, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep now that mention of the school is once again made in the target article. Sean Stephens (talk) 01:34, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep for now as the only Crandall High School which is mentioned. Disambiguate in the future if any of the others get mentioned too (e.g. there's one in Jamaica too that closed in the 1990s). 61.239.39.90 (talk) 02:41, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Great Colorado Canyon[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. plicit 03:53, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This does not appear to be an accepted alternative name for the target and is not mentioned in the article. While top google results are for the Grand Canyon, the term is ambiguous and could be confused with Colorado Canyon which was just addressed in a recent RfD. I suggest deletion unless citations can be added to the target to support its use as an alternative name. Mdewman6 (talk) 01:24, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. The uses I see in DuckDuckGo are from non-native speakers of English. "Great Colorado Canyon" is a straightforward translation (if not idiomatic) of Gran Cañón del Colorado. Perhaps it could be useful as a redirection for links made by non-natives. --Error (talk) 08:13, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Is there some R template to mark it as a form that should be substituted with the target? --Error (talk) 14:27, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't the most direct translation then be Great Canyon of the Colorado? The translation argument is a bit of stretch for me, but I am fine keeping it if others find it useful and don't think it's ambiguous. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:26, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Probably I created the redirect because I was surprised that the article was not there and I wanted to help others (or myself) who did not remember the proper English name. --Error (talk) 00:07, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Error. It gets some use (110 hits last year) and is unambiguous so deletion will bring no benefits but might make it harder for people to find what they are looking for. Thryduulf (talk) 13:09, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Error. Given the translation from Spanish, I'd only be concerned if this were used to refer to something else in English. "Great Colorado Canyon" -Wikipedia doesn't retrieve much, but it's almost all Grand Canyon. Finding a scholarly citation in an English-language university publication (link) sealed it for me. --BDD (talk) 21:28, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IPhone (13th generation)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

Not discussed in target, WP:NOTCRYSTALBALL. Naming it the thirteenth generation may be skipped because of Triskaidekaphobia, but it is not for us to predict. It is also completely possible that there is no iPhone released this year because of the global shortages. Regardless, this redirect is pointed at an article that cannot discuss this because we are not a crystal ball. Aasim (talk) 01:15, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, not plausible as a search term nor can this be a disambiguator for a single phone. It's not WP:CRYSTAL because the 13th generation has been released, but it includes the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the iPhone SE 2. -- Tavix (talk) 13:23, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the table at the current target lists generations up till 14, so does not appear to be WP:CRYSTAL. This also seems as reasonable a redirect, as it appears we have redirects for the other generations, with some (e.g., iPhone (12th generation)) also going to this target. An alternative target could be iPhone naming, but generations aren't currently detailed there. A SIA could also be created to to direct users to the list compiled by Tavix, but the table at the original target effectively does that. —Ost (talk) 16:32, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep With respect, the nominator is incorrect on both the lack of mention and CRYSTAL, as have been addressed above. Thus, I see no compelling reason to delete. --BDD (talk) 20:50, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Ost. Thryduulf (talk) 16:49, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
