March 28[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on March 28, 2020.

Broadcast yourself[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 08:44, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

While YouTube is a very popular way to broadcast yourself, it isn't the only way to do so. I'm wondering if maybe we should retarget this redirect to Broadcasting, or somewhere else if appropriate, or delete if a better target can't be found, unless someone can provide a justification for YouTube being the primary topic here. Regards, SONIC678 23:51, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Broadcast Yourself" was a slogan used by YouTube until 2011. The redirect has no apparent use, with virtually no hits or incoming wikilinks, so keep or delete, but do not retarget to broadcasting. Station1 (talk) 23:58, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, there's also Broadcast Yourself. Same deal. Station1 (talk) 00:01, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've added that redirect to this nomination. Thryduulf (talk) 10:21, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I regret most of the redirects I made back in 2007, this is not one of those. I mean sure now in 2020 this is not a popular slogan for YouTube anymore, but back during the early years of the site it was. Hell it even says at some point in the article this used to be the slogan. The slogan might not be relevant anymore, but this is still a good redirect for historical purposes. Blaze The Movie Fan (talk) 00:56, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep this was the main slogan for a number of years, so it is directly relevant to the target and is not ambiguous with anything else. Thryduulf (talk) 10:18, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as former slogan used by YouTube. Polyamorph (talk) 10:59, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral: I am not sure if these are useful, considering that they do not seem to be meaningfully discussed (and thus not explained) anywhere in the mainspace. (I have also found and added Broadcast yourself! to the nomination.) Glades12 (talk) 12:19, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UNlikely miscapitalization. TheAwesomeHwyh 22:40, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • COmment I find these kind are very likely miscapitalizations, since it just needs a sticky shift key. No opinion on actually keeping this or not. -- 65.94.170.207 (talk) 09:00, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Cleaning my shift key now. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Typing "united kingdom" or "UNITED KINGDOM" or anything between into the searchbox gets you where you want without any fuss; and this redirect would be a bad idea in a bluelink. It's just clutter. Narky Blert (talk) 11:57, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as above. I don't see any abbreviations in UNK that imply this is the same as United Kingdom. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 13:51, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't refer to the topic, and the word "evil" does not appear anywhere in the article, so I am less convinced this is an alternate name Utopes (talk / cont) 22:36, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. This is an alternative title in US and UK according to IMDB.[1] - Station1 (talk) 23:47, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Weird America disambiguators[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was speedy retarget to America (disambiguation). There's consensus to revert the redirects to their previous targets before the disruptive edits from January. America (Song) can be nominated separately for deletion. (non-admin closure)Uanfala (talk) 12:35, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Target is not about these things... TheAwesomeHwyh 21:05, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Article is not about the film, doesn't mention the film, and in the 2011 film title, the e is spelled with an é. OcelotCreeper (talk) 21:09, 28 March 2020 (UTC) [reply]
  • Retarget to America (disambiguation). OcelotCreeper (talk) 22:37, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete America (2011 film) but the other ones should be redirected to the appropriate section of America (disambiguation). I actually did this but realize that it's not good practice since the RfD is active so I'll revert them. Pichpich (talk) 21:18, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Pichpich - Why delete that one? Yes, one of the two films has a diacritic over the top, but a lot of users don't type with the diacritics (on US keyboards, that involves breaking out the dark arts of the alt codes). It's a valid search term either way, and you can't primary topic either one of those. Hog Farm (talk) 21:24, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget America (album) should redirect to America (America album). It did originally, then it was redirected to America#Albums (I'm guessing the band's article had an "album" section at one time). At some point, America became a redirect to United States and America the band was changed to America (band), but this redirect wasn't fixed. I'm not sure of the protocol...is it okay to fix the America (album) redirect now? Or wait for the discussion to be completed? Schazjmd (talk) 21:20, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Schazjmd - What's the rationale for retargeting to that specific album? There's 11 albums and 2 EPs listed on the dab page America (disambiguation), and I'm not sure that any of them should get primary topic. Hog Farm (talk) 21:26, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hog Farm, I was going by the redirect's history, which showed this redirect left in place when it was moved to America (America album). I hadn't looked at the dab page, sorry, and didn't realize there were so many other albums with that name now. I'll just strike my whole comment, the idea to retarget all to the dab makes more sense. Schazjmd (talk) 21:31, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict x3) Retarget all to America (disambiguation), where multiple entries of all of these are listed (yes, two 2011 films titled America). Hog Farm (talk) 21:21, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to the appropriate sections of America (disambiguation) per Hog Farm. Such a move would be more helpful to readers looking for a specific article than pointing them to the article about the United States. Regards, SONIC678 21:26, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to America (disambiguation). This is where they all pointed before an IP changed them to point to "america" in mid-January. Station1 (talk) 23:39, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete America (Song) as incorrectly capitalised. Retarget the rest. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to the dab page per Station1 and Hog Farm. Thryduulf (talk) 10:24, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Basil Copper. This is more of a no consensus situation, but lacking anyone voting for keep or explicitly arguing against the retarget, implementing the suggested retarget seems like the most productive solution. signed, Rosguill talk 21:18, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Basil Copper where the detective character in a book series is clearly mentioned. There is another mention at Thunder Over the Plains but this probably isn't notable enough. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:37, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. This redirect should not be used in main text per MOS:CAPS. As a search term, it's pointless clutter - anything from "donald trump" to "DONALD TRUMP" in the searchbox lands readers at the expected place. Narky Blert (talk) 12:02, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Expo 17[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was restore article. Any editor may send this to AfD. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 08:45, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Expo 17 was an article about a Canadian non-profit group that seemed to be just fine, until User:Reyk suddenly came and turned it into a redirect to Expo 2017, an international exhibition in Kazakhstan, without mentioning anything about any reason. Expo 17 and Expo 2017 are different things, with different names. Expo 17 has plenty of incoming links about the non-profit group that have just been broken by the redirect. Revert the redirect to the original article. JIP | Talk 19:25, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as redirect- Expo 17 was a non-profit committee dedicated to Canada's abortive bid for the 2017 World's fair, which was eventually won by Astana, Kazakhstan. Since the local committee isn't independently notable, and the article was very badly sourced, it makes sense to redirect to the actual event. Especially since the committee's title is a plausible mistyping of the actual event's title. Reyk YO! 19:39, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore and take to AFD - Since the blanking/redirect has been contested, it's best to give the article an AFD listing. No opinion on the notability of the organization (I'd have to do research for that). If the article survives the AfD, then a WP:HATNOTE can be added pointing to the overall exposition. Hog Farm (talk) 20:10, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • If it does go to AfD I would suggest that Edmonton Expo 2017 needs to be listed as well. It's no more notable than Expo 17 was, and I don't think we need a vaguely promotional walled garden of articles regurgitating the same information about this non-starter bid. I actually came across this redirect when I was looking for the Astana expo and was surprised to find a trivial failed committee instead. Reyk YO! 10:42, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Revert WP:BLANK would suggest that the redirection is wrong. The current target Expo 2017 is even linking to Expo 17 expecting that there is a bid article there. (like many other high profile international events, many have Wikipedia articles on bids for prospective candidates); we even have another bid article for a different city, Edmonton Expo 2017, that wasn't the host city. (the formatting of that article suggests a solution on naming the reverted article, Montreal Expo 17) -- 65.94.170.207 (talk) 09:13, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Revert without prejudice to AfD per WP:BLAR. The bold redirection has been challenged, so the status quo ante should be restored and the situation discussed. Thryduulf (talk) 10:55, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How did I forget Thomas Jefferson? TheAwesomeHwyh 19:24, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am assuming you forgot Jefferson because you were focusing on the presidents whose last names begin with "T" first. OcelotCreeper (talk) 23:56, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A quick google gives me 1.1 M hits for the British music artist "President T" and other non-Trump hits.
A google for Trump involved is only 273K hits and that seems to include a significant percentage with co-incidental "President T-shirts".
And "T. Roosevelt" showed 66K hits. Cheers Markbassett (talk) 22:02, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst I acknowledge that the target is a disambiguation-like page, I think it's a stretch to require this particular redirect. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:39, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This misspellling doesn't seem pllausible (unless, of course, it's an officiall name). Since "allbum" here is being used as a common noun, I'm tillting towards dellete on those two redirects (which seem llike search bar cllutter now after being moved to correct the spelllings). Regards, SONIC678 04:35, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both - I've got mixed feelings when it comes to typos. Still, neither of these appear to be particularly useful in my opinion. I agree. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 06:26, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as unlikely search terms and as they weren't at the previous misspelled titles for very long there should not be too many external incoming links affected, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 20:26, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dellete both. per nominator. OcellotCreeper (tallk) 23:44, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Bnad" is likely an implausible misspelling for "band," and I'm not sure why someone would search it this way, other than mixing up the A and N keys, which are pretty far apart from each other on most keyboards, or searching for something that has "bnad" as the official spelling (such as the Lady Godiva Memorial Bnad), in the latter case of which it'd be plausible. I'm leaning delete here (again), as these two entities use the spelling "band" in the official names rather than "bnad." Regards, SONIC678 04:14, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete These redirects got only a single pageview each in the past 90 days, compared to 104 and 14382 pageviews for their respective targets and 449 for Lady Godiva Memorial Bnad (pageviews). –LaundryPizza03 (d) 10:40, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Unnecessary clutter - by the time you've typed half-a-dozen letters, the searchbox is offering the article you want in its correct spelling. Narky Blert (talk) 12:12, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment This is a single letter transposition (reversed "n" and "a"), so is a very plausible form of typo. You just need a sticky keyboard or one finger to hit a bit too early. Transposition errors are documented at our article on Transcription error. No opinion on keeping this or not -- 65.94.170.207 (talk) 09:19, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Possible but not likely, especially when typing this in search and it would already get you to the desired article, like President of the United Statse. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:02, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Only ever mentioned in the episode Infinite Regress, propose retarget to there. TheAwesomeHwyh 00:12, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - I may be wrong about this, but from a bit of searching the 'vinculum' is a device that's used throughout the Borg Empire. They're essentially communication hubs for coordinating things, or so that's my understanding, and apparently every one of their iconic cubes has one. Thus, while it's something that's a minor part of how the Borg act, I guess, it's important enough that it ought to be mentioned on the main page for them. Comparably, I'd expect searching about the CPUs used in the latest Apple notebook computer to lead me to some kind of a main article on said computers, even though the CPUs get comparatively minor notice compared to everything else Apple related. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 06:33, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to the Star Trek episode above, as mentioned all over there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree - Retarget to episode that is the best information on it, not the Borg page itself. StarHOG (Talk) 14:45, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
