Revolt of the Angels[edit]

The result of the discussion was resolved, having been moved to The Revolt of the Angels and converted to an article by Serial Number 54129. --BDD (talk) 16:01, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revolt of the Angels is mentioned in the target, but redirecting the title of a novel to the genre to which it belongs is unusual and not especially helpful. Anatole France was a Nobel laureate and this book has an article at the French Wikipedia, so it's very likely to be notable in its own right, in which case WP:RDEL #10 applies. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:38, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting a redirect only bfd with no links, has been the target of several redirects due to target articles becoming redirected themselves, too many degrees of separation to be linked to the X Factor franchise and not notable for their own article. Ajf773 (talk) 00:33, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep for now, there's no harm in keeping the redirect as nom said, he isn't too notable for an article. Captain Galaxy (talk) 18:38, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no point in keeping a redirect to a target where the person is not even mentioned there. There are no other articles where this person is mentioned that I can find. Ajf773 (talk) 20:49, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • On further notice, I change my vote to delete due to lack of mention on target page as mentioned by nominator. Captain Galaxy (talk) 16:11, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Delete. This redirect is harmful, as its existence makes readers think that the target page contains information about Derry, even though it doesn't. This redirect disappoints and confuses readers. Not a very active user (talk) 04:23, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment He appears to have gone as far as the boot camp round of The X Factor (British series 8), but not mentioned there since there were still too many contestants left. Seems to have gone into acting, but has yet to achieve anything significant. Hzh (talk) 19:23, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RLOTE, no particular connection between tornadoes and Tagalog. It's not clear that there have ever even been any tornadoes in the Philippines. signed, Rosguill talk 20:05, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Tornadoes do happen in some parts of my country, though it's very rare. Water spouts are more common than the land-based tornadoes. That said though, I don't see why this redirect should exist, as the Tagalog term is not used in the article or any other English papers in a non-Philippine context. It's not like tsunami, a Japanese term, that is borrowed and used primarily to describe waves caused by a displacement in water bodies. --Pandakekok9 (talk) 08:06, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete Yes we do have tornadoes. Anyways, I agree that there are no particular connection between tornadoes and the Tagalog language. I also found some partial title matches here: Buhawi Jack, Dios Buhawi and Buhawi "Buwi" F. Meneses.--Lenticel (talk) 04:55, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete The redirect is a stretch and unlikely search term. --Xannir (talk) 13:45, 18 June 2020 (UTC) WP:SOCKSTRIKE Mdaniels5757 (talk) 22:17, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Google hits suggest a song not mentioned on Wikipedia. This was created by the Coronacaust, COVIDemic, and Corona baby redirects. Recommend tagging for R3. OcelotCreeper (talk) 18:41, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Another silly redirect created by the user who create useless neologisms like Condemic, COVIDemic, Covidemic, etc. Soumya-8974 talk contribs subpages 17:59, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as WP:MADEUP. Narky Blert (talk) 18:29, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. I have not read any sources that describe the pandemic as such. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:48, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete No evidence this is a term that is used. Hzh (talk) 14:32, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This can be confused with the Cholera pandemics that spread throughout the 19th-20th century, also it's too vague as there more illnesses than just Covid-19 that start with a 'C' that could be a pandemic in the future. Captain Galaxy (talk) 16:17, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Whether it is theoretically ambiguous now or in the future is irrelevant. What matters is what, if anything, the term is actually used for now and my results indicate "c-pandemic" on its own not used for anything as all the results are either (1) things like "section c-Pandemic" or option c in multiple choice tests/quizzes, or (2) part of "hepatitis-C pandemic". Thryduulf (talk) 17:46, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete This is not a reasonable search term. --Xannir (talk) 13:45, 18 June 2020 (UTC) WP:SOCKSTRIKE Mdaniels5757 (talk) 22:17, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above, this term is ambiguous as to what it refers to, like we don't have SF-pandemic for the 1918 Spanish flu outbreak or S-pandemic for anything relating to smallpox. Regards, SONIC678 21:32, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

delete per WP:REDLINK. This could easily point to Wild Rebels or A Christmas Story, both of which are probably better known than this movie. Nohomersryan (talk) 17:54, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic Pakistan[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Islam in Pakistan. Thryduulf (talk) 00:04, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't this redundant? The whole point of Pakistan is that it is Muslim.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  21:18, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

keep the entry "Islamic Pakistan" which now redirects to "pakistan" should remain as is. Rjensen (talk) 21:27, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • How about we retarget it to Pakistan movement instead? However, it seems that the author of this redirect created this so that the Pakistan flag template points to an existing page about Pakistan. I'm not sure what they mean about the "Pakistan flag template" though. I think we should wait for the author to respond before we delete or retarget this redirect. im temtemhOI!!fsfdfg • alt account of pandakekok9 02:45, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Islam in Pakistan. ‘Islamic Pakistan’ does sound redundant as Pakistan is, in fact, an Islamic country. It appears to refer to the Islamic culture and norms of Pakistan as compared with its present or past non-Islamic aspects. A common person could search for ‘Islamic Pakistan’ and expect to be redirected to ‘Islam in Pakistan’. Idell (talk) 12:01, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Islam in Pakistan per Idell, like Christian American redirects to Christianity in the United States, which would be more helpful to readers than simply directing them to the country. Regards, SONIC678 17:49, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, the country's official name is "Islamic Republic of Pakistan". This is a plausible search term. signed, Rosguill talk 00:08, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Rosguill. Captain Galaxy (talk) 21:28, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per Idell. I agree with the analyses by Idell and Sonic678. Narky Blert (talk) 18:31, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Rosguill. There's no harm in redirecting redundancies if the redundancy is a plausible search term and a sensible target exists. Sonic678's analogy doesn't quite hold up, since the United States, unlike Pakistan, is officially a secular state – "Islamic Pakistan" has a formal existence that "Christian America" lacks (and the equivalent of Christian American would be Muslim Pakistani, not Islamic Pakistan). – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:45, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Christian America" could reasonably be read as an equivalent of either "Islamic Pakistan" or "Muslim Pakistan". --BDD (talk) 15:51, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This is a reasonable search term. Redirects are cheap. --Xannir (talk) 13:27, 18 June 2020 (UTC) WP:SOCKSTRIKE Mdaniels5757 (talk) 22:17, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Islam in Pakistan per Idell. It just seems so unlikely that a user searching with this additional information is looking for plain Pakistan. WP:POPE aside, unless a reader has just heard about this thing called "Pakistan", they'll know enough to search for it directly if that's what they want. --BDD (talk) 15:51, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
