January 16[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 16, 2020.

Wang Longde[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 21:14, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No idea why Wang Longde redirects to Margaret Chan. Wang Longde is a well known Chinese physician and health official who is unrelated to Chan. Zanhe (talk) 19:35, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the debate. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

O-PDS[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 21:14, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is no indication why O-PDS redirects to this target. I suggest delete since it is possibly ambiguous with OPDS Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:55, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No objection. I don't remember why I created it. Mikael Häggström (talk) 19:35, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Dictionary of Inorganic Compounds, Supplement 4 lists O,PdS as a name for palladium sulfate, but nothing about O-PDS. Hog Farm (talk) 20:01, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ronna[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. There is no consensus to keeping this redirect as is because "Ronna" is a fairly common given name, and not unique to a character in the former TV series, The West Wing. There was also no consensus to deleting this redirect, either. Debate surrounded over whether this was to be a dab page or a set index page, but debate seems to have coalesced around the former, following and with noteworthy credit to Narky Blert for his or her creating the dab page. (non-admin closure) Doug Mehus T·C 15:37, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Two incoming links, neither of which is about the target, and each of which is about something different. This would likely be better as a red link. Wikiacc () 08:29, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Set index or dab? Not sure how to go about it but there are several articles about people named "Ronna" --Lenticel (talk) 01:46, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Convert into {{given name}} page. I've added the text for one below the RFD notice. Narky Blert (talk) 15:19, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose converting into a name list. Neither of the current links from the main namespace (Special:PermaLink/922738594#Districts and Special:PermaLink/935118945#Fashion career) are apparent references to people, so the drafted set index would not be useful for followers of those links. I'm not sure what to do instead, but lean towards disambiguating with both the subjects referred to by the links and people with the name. Glades12 (talk) 16:28, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ronna in the first permalink is sv:Ronna, a place, with no article in any other language. I've edited the article to turn it into Ronna [sv].
Ronna in the second permalink is obscure. Neither the Italian nor the Japanese equivalent articles mention Ronna; and neither WP has an article on that word. The citation is print-only, but I found a French version. I could find nothing more about Ronna in Japan. I've redlinked it in the article as Ronna (brand). Narky Blert (talk) 17:37, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then your proposal is fine. Struck my original comment. Glades12 (talk) 18:51, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Glades12: No worries, you prompted me into doing the extra necessary work! Narky Blert (talk) 19:39, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given name per Narky Blert. The draft looks nice, good work! Wug·a·po·des 20:46, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Set index as above for names. There do not seem to be any other entries besides names for it to be a disambiguation. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:13, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Endorse Disambig - pretty clear readers could be searching for any of those topics, I see no reason to think one is a primary. Well-handled. WilyD 15:46, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Amon Hen, Amon Lhaw, and Tol Brandir are all features near the place where the Fellowship was ambushed by orcs. I found a retarget for Amon Hen, but Amon Lhaw and Tol Brandir don't have clear retarget points in my opinion. Hog Farm (talk) 15:44, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per WP:RKEEP#4. The page has existed since 2007 and got 400 page views last year despite having almost no back links. It's incredibly likely that there are external links that would be broken, and given its page stats people seem to find it useful. Add the additional factor of it having page history that needs to be retained for attribution of content that was merged into another page, and so I'm pretty strongly against deleting. Wug·a·po·des 20:56, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. I'm convinced there is no relevant history to be "preserved". During the sequence of mergers, as Hog Farm explains, no content from the old list actually made it to the target. So there should be no licensing issues. Per the page views, I'm not convinced 400/year is worth retaining an obsolete redirect. By keeping the redirect, we would be disappointing 400 users/year when they arrived at the target and found no content relating to Middle-earth inns, let alone a list thereof. BenKuykendall (talk) 00:05, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I'm normally against deleting where WP:ATT applies, but am satisfied with Hog Farm and BenKuykendall's assessment that none of this list content made it in to the target page, so it can be safely deleted. Doug Mehus T·C 18:50, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target. In an internet search, I was able to find [1], which would establish that Parada was a passenger on the plane. However, given it is unlikely to ever be DUE to mention at the target, and thus I'd suggest deleting the redirect. signed, Rosguill talk 18:39, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Whiskey tango[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Jack Savoretti discography. signed, Rosguill talk 21:10, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Very unclear why this targets here. "Whiskey tango" stands for WT in the NATO phonetic alphabet, and this redirect is in Category:Military slang and jargon, so maybe this is some sort of military slang, but if so, it's not mentioned at the target article. Whiskey Tango redirects to Jack Savoretti discography, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a dab page, and Whiskey tango 6 redirects to Frisky Dingo. I have absolutely no idea what to do with this. Was an extremely short article sourced to Urban Dictionary for awhile in 2008, but no history worth saving from that. Hog Farm (talk) 05:49, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now this is something. This redirect seems to have no views as far as the pageviews tool goes back. It is a shortcut that redirects to a non-existent section. Nothing links here; I found this while categorising redirects to WP:Notability (local interests) (its target page). I think it's best to delete this redirect to encourage others to create this shortcut rather than leave it untouched on the basis of not wanting to do much work and file an RfD. J947(c), at 04:44, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. No use as it stands, for the reasons given by nom. Delete it, to clear the way for any editor who might think of a suitable use in the future. Narky Blert (talk) 14:45, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete basically the same reason we delete mainspace redirects; the redlink would be more useful than the actual redirect. Wug·a·po·des 21:01, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
