February 5[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on February 5, 2020.

Aitch[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. Just a sock, trolling around. Thank yous to Narky Blert and DMacks. Drmies (talk) 22:55, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It hasn't been used in a while so I want it to be deleted. Brentman1575 (talk | contribs) 04:13, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Not sure what the deletion reason is; this redirect is certainly being used (has several inbound links) and is the spelled pronunciation of the letter (just like Ess redirects to S, many others). UnitedStatesian (talk) 05:03, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per UnitedStatesian. There are other actual meanings of the term "aitch" that require disambiguation (a DAB page), and surely the letter H is the primary meaning, so this link goes to the primary meaning per DAB guideline. DMacks (talk) 05:48, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per UnitedStatesian and DMacks. Redirects like this are cheap'n'harmless. --Soumyabrata (talksubpages) 06:01, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. It's the usual phonetic representation of a letter, just as are e.g. zed and zee, and well-documented. See also aitch-dropping, another good redirect. Narky Blert (talk) 08:58, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Disambiguate. I've added a draft to Aitch. Narky Blert (talk) 18:42, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(Thanks to DMacks for the suggestion, at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation#Separate page for letter itself vs spelled-out name of it?.) Narky Blert (talk) 18:57, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And thanks for doing it! I think it would go at Aitch (disambiguation), with AitchH retained (primary meaning as we say it), as my original !vote) and a redir/seealso hatnote HAitch (disambiguation). DMacks (talk) 19:36, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Veloga[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 15:24, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing any indication that this was a nickname associated with the target in particular. I reviewed the German and Russian Wikipedia pages in addition to an internet search. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 23:28, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • The nickname is referenced here Oeoi (talk) 23:42, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oeoi, it's not clear that this is a mononym uniquely associated with Dezhurov. For all we know this could be a standard Mordvin nickname. I wouldn't be opposed to the creation of a redirect from Veloga Dezhurov, however. signed, Rosguill talk 00:17, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense, agreed! Oeoi (talk) 19:23, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete; I don't really think a mention of a probable unknown nickname in an interview is enough given that is unused anywhere else. Perhaps an alternative Croatian name for a village (hr:Veli Rat)? J947(c), at 23:50, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Not mentioned in the article. велога isn't mentioned in the Russian article either. If anyone for some reason searches for Veloga/велога, they're not going to find any information in WP (nor, so far as I can tell, anywhere else (including Wiktionary)). "Veloga" in hr:Veli Rat looks like an inflected (genitive?) form of "Veli". Narky Blert (talk) 09:39, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

C-size[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Consensus was unanimous here that C-size refers to more than just a type of battery, it also refers to the breast cup size of a bra, among other things. Thus, it's ambiguous and confusing per WP:R#D2, and disambiguation, with the draft dab page created by Narky Blert preferred. (non-admin closure) Doug Mehus T·C 20:47, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When I saw this redirect I was honestly thinking of Bra size rather than the current target. I would lean towards redirecting to there, given that the current target doesn't really refer to it as C-size but rather just C-series. signed, Rosguill talk 23:21, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revolution (2020)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 16:56, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's a possible name-clash with Revolution 2020, although I'm currently of the opinion that this isn't the most obvious search term for either the current target or this proposed alternative target (another possible name-clash would be any revolutions which may or may not occur this year). Right now I'm leaning delete per WP:XY but am open to other arguments and suggestions. signed, Rosguill talk 23:19, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • favour delete: seems like unlikely search term. The Revolution 2020 seems more like a suitable redirect. The wikipedia search filter is good enough to disambiguate these items. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. It's ambiguous and future prognosticating. Will there be only one revolution of any type this year? --Doug Mehus T·C 19:53, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Common naming for professional wrestling events are the name followed by year like that. If there is only one by the name it follows the current pages convention, and there is a redirect from the other. A simple hatnote at the target should suffice. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 14:36, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and prefer AEW Revolution (2020) as more precise. Unlike the other PPV events the name Revolution is not unique so it would be a surprise. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:37, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Norman Calloway[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Norman Callaway. Unanimous consensus. Hatnotes will be added at the current and former targets. (non-admin closure) Doug Mehus T·C 20:55, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This seems like an implausible typo to me, but I'm bringing it here rather than speedy delete it in case I'm missing something relevant. signed, Rosguill talk 23:15, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 22:49, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like an improper case of WP:RFFL to me, no clear particular connection between Spanish-, French- or German-speaking regions and this subject. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 23:04, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:RFFL. The most precise target would be Dooring#Dutch Reach. The German redirects offend not only against RFFL, but they're also in the wrong grammatical case (Holländischen Griff - genitive) or simply wrong (Niederländische Griff - feminine adjective, masculine noun). Narky Blert (talk) 00:23, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as improper redirects from foreign languages, whether spelt correctly or not. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:24, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. I'm less familiar with WP:RFFL as a keep rationale, but everyone seems to have thus under control. I also like that Chiswick Chap intentionally inserted a spelling error into his comment. ;-) Doug Mehus T·C 19:54, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, just British. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:59, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, hrm, I use Canadian English spelling, but I didn't think "spelt" was correct. Is it an acceptable UK English spelling? Doug Mehus T·C 20:00, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    FWIW, I use it in New Zealand. J947(c), at 05:24, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as are also e.g. dwelt and smelt. We're sometimes consistent in our inconsistency. Narky Blert (talk) 08:07, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as per others. J947(c), at 05:24, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • N.b., I closed Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2020 January 20#Holländische Griff as delete recently. I'm afraid I didn't think to look for other forms. --BDD (talk) 15:04, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Noting BDD's nota bene, I !voted "[w]eakest of all possible keeps per WilyD" in that RfD. Interesting. Doug Mehus T·C 02:57, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Move fast and break things (motto)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. signed, Rosguill talk 20:07, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
NB Target has been changed: now redirects to Facebook, Inc.#History (to which the text referring to the motto had been moved some time ago). PamD 17:07, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

delete; the phrase does not appear anywhere in the article. Theoprakt (talk) 21:27, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: the target text was moved into Facebook, Inc.. I have now updated the redirect accordingly. PamD 22:43, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as implausible and unhelpful. I'm not sure WP:ATT requires us to keep the redirect for incorporating a single company motto into an article, particularly if the company or other sources have identified that as a motto. This strikes me as a minor edit. Moreover, I wonder if editors would be surprised to learn that, seemingly, the CC-BY-SA license provisions to which we agree when we edit Wikipedia do not require Wikipedia mirrors to maintain edit history. Take Everipedia, which, until recently, kept an up-to-date sync of every Wikipedia article with no prior edit history from Wikipedia; the only credit provided is to Wikimedia Foundation, Inc.. I assume this is in compliance with the CreativeCommons license terms because, if not, that would mean WMF has opted to abdicate its responsibility for enforcing license terms. Doug Mehus T·C 23:43, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the previous discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages/Archive 42#Move fast and break things motto in September 2019. The article should have retained this motto. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:35, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 16:59, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Socialist confederalism[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 22:53, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure this is the most appropriate target, given that this phrase is not actually used there and that this is a plausible alternative name for democratic confederalism (which currently redirects to a section of Abdullah Öcalan. I'm leaning toward deletion per WP:XY, but am open to other arguments. signed, Rosguill talk 19:06, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Rosguill, I redirected it there because it wrote: Anarcho-communism calls for a confederal form in relationships of mutual aid and free association between communes as an alternative to the centralism of the nation-state and in general I thought it was referring that, so it was broder than just democratic confederalism. However, if there was also a section at Confederalism that discussed anarchism and libertarian socialism's support of confederalism, I would have redirected there instead.--Davide King (talk) 02:51, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not disputing that it's a plausible name for the current target, but rather that it's equally reasonable as a redirect to several other targets and thus has potential for confusion. signed, Rosguill talk 03:12, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 16:58, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - This appears as if it would apply somewhere within 'Types of socialism#Socialist ideologies', but it's rather tricky since the concept appears to maybe not necessarily apply anarchism... but doesn't rule anarchism out either? CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 18:02, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete per nom. High potential for confusion. --BDD (talk) 20:09, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete per nom and BDD above. We could probably also target it somewhere and use hatnotes, but we don't know the other targets, so I think deletion is best. Doug Mehus T·C 21:23, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. At one point, content had been merged to the target, but that contribution has long since been overwritten. signed, Rosguill talk 20:05, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete This phrase as written does not appear in the target article, and I argue there is no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for it when uncapitalized (making it generic). No inbound links. UnitedStatesian (talk) 05:20, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Generic, and no good target. Narky Blert (talk) 08:48, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. I'm no Tolkien aficionado and only noticed this discussion because of the one I started, below, but the Tolkien Gateway has an entry on Celos, with some cites to J.R.R. Tolkien's and Christopher Tolkien's works, that might aid in determining how to handle this one. No !vote. TJRC (talk) 01:41, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 03:44, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Heather Morris (Silent Hill actress) is redirecting to Heather Morris, which is a completely different person with the same name. Compare https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1262053/ (the Silent Hill actress) with https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3529987/ (actress that is the subject of Heather Morris).

There is no longer an article on the Silent Hill actress; at some point it made its way to Heather Morris (voice actress) and was deleted at AfD in 2015; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heather Morris (voice actress). TJRC (talk) 00:13, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as per nom, that is some complex history. J947(c), at 04:40, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Misleading and potentially confusing redirect. The Silent Hill/voice actress redirect was re-targeted to the Glee actress after Heather Morris (voice actress) was deleted at AfD. It should have been deleted as a broken redirect. These are two different actresses. • Gene93k (talk) 08:09, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Good research. Narky Blert (talk) 08:57, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Heather Mason as the voice and motion capture for Heather Mason the main player character in Silent Hill 3. Details in that article about her relevance to that character. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:10, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that justifies redirecting; readers are extremely unlikely to search for "Heather Morris (Silent Hill actress)". But it's worth adding a hatnote to Heather Morris, which readers looking for the Silent Hill may search for, so I've added one. TJRC (talk) 05:08, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per the above. The presence of the parenthetical qualifier makes it an even more highly implausible typo and search term and likely to be subject to extremely low usage. Doug Mehus T·C 23:10, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above and because this string really isn't likely – disambiguation-by-performance isn't what we do.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  19:42, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
