This redirect would appear to be a reference to this xkcd. I don't think that really justifies a redirect though. signed, Rosguill talk 22:35, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, a joke, not a useful search term. Plantdrew (talk) 21:45, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the page history, it would appear that this was originally intended to redirect to Endeavors––presumably, Allman was a member of the band. However, with no article to redirect to, I think this is best off deleted. signed, Rosguill talk 22:24, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. There is no article about, or mentioning "Jon Allman". Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:12, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect is for a voice actor for some minor characters in the Pokemon anime (non-RS source). Not mentioned in the target, and they don't appear to play a significant enough role in the series to justify a redirect despite not being mentioned. signed, Rosguill talk 21:54, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, these are among the worst kind of redirects. Someone looking for information on this voice actor will not be happy when find themselves at a completely unrelated article. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:36, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Washington Nationals Youth Academy[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy#Washington, D.C.. -- Tavix (talk) 17:33, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this is redirected here because it is the home of Georgetown Hoyas softball, however other teams play here too including the Howard Bison softball team, the DC Grays of the Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, and quite a few lower-division college teams in the area. A retarget to Washington Nationals might be appropriate, or it could be expanded into an article if someone wants to write it, otherwise I'd suggest it be deleted as Georgetown is clearly not an appropriate target. Smartyllama (talk) 13:41, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say Georgetown clearly isn't the appropriate target because it is not clear. The Washington Nationals do not use the facility. It is just sponsored by the team. The highest classification (largest athletic dept budget) sports team to actually use the facility is Georgetown, so I redirected to them. I certainly thought about redirecting to the Washington Nationals, but since they don't use the facility, I chose otherwise. All that being said, I do not care if it's redirected to the Nationals. I didn't like either choice. Finally, I think an article would be best to explain the many uses of the facility, but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to write it in the near future. Spatms (talk) 06:56, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I too would prefer an actual article. Maybe delete this for now per WP:REDLINK in the hopes someone else will come along and create a full article? Smartyllama (talk) 00:44, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have a solution. I forgot about the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy article on which I had previously contributed. The Washington Nationals Youth Academy is one of these academies and a referenced section has been added to the article. The last thing to do is redirect to this article and the problem is solved. Spatms (talk) 02:01, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Retarget to Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy#Washington, D.C. May still be worth a standalone article at some point. Maybe not, since none of the other facilities there have one. Either way, we'll help readers. --BDD (talk) 19:15, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All of the above redirects contain unwarranted and pointless uses of Cyrillic or Greek letters (which I've underlined [and bolded]). The Cyrillic С (as in Сhortkiv (railway station) and Сomintern) does not even correspond to the Latin C, but to Latin S. — the Man in Question (in question) 07:14, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Whoopee now that a disambiguation exists. -- Tavix (talk) 17:35, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target article. In addition, this could be either considered a misspelling/alternative spelling for Whoopee, and/or a slang term for Sexual intercourse. Steel1943 (talk) 04:13, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Useless misspelling, dubious target. — the Man in Question (in question) 06:46, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as ambiguous redirect (see discussion below) --Lenticel (talk) 05:43, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - As created by myself, this was originally a misspelling redirect to Whoopee!. The change happened because a vandal redirected the "Whoopee!" page itself to "Feces". *That* was reverted within five hours, but in the meantime an overzealous AvicBot had *already* identified Whopee as a double redirect and and "fixed" it. (This was way back in 2012, so I'm not about to make a fuss about behaviour that probably- hopefully!- changed years ago.) Anyway, I'll restore my original redirect and hope the Man in Question, Lenticel and Steel1943 can reconsider things in light of this. Thanks. Ubcule (talk) 20:02, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    1. Thanks for the clarification. Still, why would this justify the redirect? As I said in my vote, it just doesn't seem like a useful misspelling. — the Man in Question (in question) 20:41, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    2. Thanks for giving context on the redirect. Given the ambiguous nature of the redirect. Perhaps it's better to weak retarget it to the dab Whoopee instead? --Lenticel (talk) 00:53, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Lenticel: I agree- now that you suggest it, redirecting to Whoopee (i.e. the dab page) rather than Whoopee! seems like a better choice. Ubcule (talk) 17:40, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I created the DAB Whoopee because, due to this nomination, I noticed it was conspicuously lacking. Still I think whopee's not much of a redirect. — the Man in Question (in question) 16:58, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Whoopee. This is enough of a nonsense/onomatopoeia word that we should be pretty tolerant of misspellings, and this is a pretty minor one. --BDD (talk) 20:25, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Consistent with previous consensus and per WP:SURPRISE: a user certainly would not expect to start at the Portal space and wind up at the article (I believe this is currently the only such redirect). This redirect is the result of what I believe to be a WP:BADNAC of Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/Portal:Islam_in_Russia. UnitedStatesian (talk) 02:16, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. They are absolutely not the same thing, not even close. One is for sounds used to ease pronunciation, the other is purely what a particular script or letter looks like on paper or in stone or whatever. 184.101.92.170 (talk) 15:17, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, but. Not exactly - this shows that the "typographic" meaning is much the most common in linguistics, so the redirect is still likely to be useful for most searchers. As for the other meaning, probably this needs its own article, or perhaps a section at the other. Then a disam page of something. Johnbod (talk) 15:50, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • The first link you give doesn't show that at all. It shows exactly what I'm saying: the first 20 articles are about typography, not linguistics. 184.101.92.170 (talk) 22:09, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, per Johnbod. If we cover the non-typographic sense somewhere, disambiguation hatnotes exist for a reason.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  20:39, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
