August 18[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on August 18, 2017.

List of 30-minute episodes in Codename: Kids Next Door[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Deryck C. 10:37, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

From what I see, the target page does not contain any "30-minute episodes", but rather 15-minute episodes. Steel1943 (talk) 23:36, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: The target page indicates that there were 11 and 22 minute episodes (and at least one 7 minute episode). Presumably the 22 minute ones -- whichever they were -- filled a 30 minute slot, but the redirect is of questionable usefulness. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 13:52, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as there is no such list at the target, nor does the content allow one to find this information. Episode 1a is noted as being 7 minutes long, and it implies that episodes 1b and/or 1c are also short but that is the extent of information about running time other than the sentence in the lead noted by Hydronium Hydroxide. Thryduulf (talk) 08:39, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of 2D animated films[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 20:15, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The target page does not specify which lists are exclusive to 2D films. Steel1943 (talk) 19:59, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there is a page for Flash animated films, which count as 2D animated films. But since you're talking about 2D animated films in general, well, there are so many 2D animated films being released, even nowadays, that the article would just be excessively long. Superchunk22 (talk) 22:19, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija (1963-1974)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Delete all except Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija (1963–1974). Ruslik_Zero 20:02, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We should delete these redirects because they contain incorrect and potentially misleading time spans. We have several remaining redirects with correct time spans. Sorabino (talk) 17:29, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

should be kept, when a piped link without the time disambiguation could achieve the same thing (for example, Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo#1945–1963 works perfectly fine? Granted the en-dashes make it difficult, but an anchor could fix that problem. menaechmi (talk) 18:59, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Dates in the second list of redirects are correct, as it is explained in the relevant article, with proper references. Therefore, incorrect redirects should be deleted, and correct redirects should be kept, since they are not pure variants, but contain official names of the region/province in various periods. Sorabino (talk) 19:06, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep at least 1: Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija (1963–1974) needs to either be history merged or retained; retention is simpler. As for the others in the first list, it's much of a muchness. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 14:03, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Yes, there is a question of a potential page history merger. Maybe redirect Kosovo and Metohija in SFR Yugoslavia can be used for that? Sorabino (talk) 14:22, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep We're talking about an entity that existed from 1945 to 1990, which incorporates all of the above dates. Even if some combinations of dates and names are inaccurate, they're plausible enough as search terms. Tag {{R unprintworthy}} or {{R from incorrect name}} where appropriate, but I think these will all take readers where they're trying to go. --BDD (talk) 16:51, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of -gry words[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 20:14, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such list at the target article. Steel1943 (talk) 15:47, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Add to rationale: Someone looking up this redirect may think that the target contains all words that end with "-gry", which the target fails to accomplish ... since that does not seem to be the scope of the article. Steel1943 (talk) 14:32, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep this is a plausible search term. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:09, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – the popularity of the -gry puzzle in the wild makes it likely that someone may come to WP, aware of the availability of many "List of" articles, and try to use this approach to solve the puzzle. The reason given for deletion seems to be based on lack of awareness of the puzzle or an overly rigid concept of what is allowed to be found at "List of" articles. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:43, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. There are several lists of -gry words at the target, including in the lead. Someone search for this will very likely find what they are looking for. Thryduulf (talk) 09:05, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure)Uanfala 11:05, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unsure if this really is plausible given that 🏗 already exists and there are a few invisible characters following the symbol in the title of this redirect (I'm no expert on this matter, but there are a few regular editors here at RfD who could help out.) - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 08:14, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Looking at this user's contributions, their created redirects make sense. Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 08:51, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I'll send a ping to our emoji expert, Gorobay. -- Tavix (talk) 14:20, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Both look the same on my mobile device. Also, see MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist#Zero width joiner emoji; if the aforementioned discussion is why such redirects can now be created, meaning that this redirect is a variation of the other, consider me "keep". Steel1943 (talk) 15:08, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Keep per Gorobay. I suspected this to be the case. Redirects like these are actually helpful, especially if someone's emoji keyboard is stuck using one variation and they are not technically savvy enough to adjust the emoji to go back to its default. Steel1943 (talk) 17:56, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This redirect is a pictograph followed by an emoji presentation selector, which specifies that the preceding character should be rendered as emoji. It is therefore not wrong. The discussion Steel1943 linked to is indeed why this title is no longer on the blacklist. Now, I wouldn’t bother creating such redirects en masse, because the search bar already deals with variation selectors, but there is no reason to discourage their creation. Gorobay (talk) 17:06, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Gorobay. Thryduulf (talk) 09:15, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Withdrawn. ...And Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is an article. News to me. Steel1943 (talk) 14:49, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The target is unclear on what "Compilation" refers to. Steel1943 (talk) 07:32, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keep What? The second sentence starts: "VII has been followed by multiple sequels and prequels, grouped into the multimedia series Compilation of Final Fantasy VII..." --PresN 11:45, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 20:07, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Target is unclear on which characters are "minor characters". Steel1943 (talk) 07:25, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Redirect from a page move / merge so there may be external links pointing at the redirect, and keeping it does no real harm. --Xover (talk) 06:10, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep all characters in Romeo and Juliet are found at the target so it includes all those that are considered minor. There is enough prose that someone can make their own determination about which are minor and which are not. Thryduulf (talk) 09:18, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect's title is WP:XY between the subjects "characters" and "sketches". Also, the target is unclear on what "sketches" refers to. (Note: List of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? characters and sketches is a {{R with history}}.) Steel1943 (talk) 07:10, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I think they mean the game show since that has live-action scenarios, but I agree this is too vague to make any sense as the cartoon series has characters. And per nom, there is no list of sketches. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:14, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not a vaild search term, only the merger is UPN and Warner bros. Note: This redirect was created per WP:AFC/R request, so I'm bringing it up to discussion. KGirl (Wanna chat?) 01:54, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete considering that the redirect is not exclusive to the target, considering that CBS and Warner Bros. are subsidiaries of two different companies. Steel1943 (talk) 01:56, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, I don't see the problem with it, really. The article states "CBS chairman Leslie Moonves explained that the name of the new network was formed from the first letters of CBS and Warner Bros", and so The CW stands for CBS and Warner Bros. --AmaryllisGardener talk 03:43, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete not a proper search term. The suggestor for this redirect, 50.107.xxx.xxx, deleted the objection to creating this redirect multiple times to game the system to create the redirect [1] [2]. CBS and WB have had other collaborations, and this network was the result of the merger between The WB and UPN, not CBS and Warner.
