Qantas.se[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Not getting a lot of hits, also target is little related to the countries which these ccTLDs belong to. I have left out the more obvious ones from this nomination. - TheChampionMan1234 23:56, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong delete: I've got numerous reasons: This is not the official website of Qantas: the official website is "qantas.com.au" and that's the website that appears in the article. Since this is not the official website, it isn't mentioned at the the target, making it confusing at best. These are extremely implausible search terms. Who would search this website in Wikipedia? Since the website already says "Qantas", they would already know that it's Qantas, so a general article on the airline wouldn't be helpful. It would make sense if we had Qantas in Sweden, for example, but that's not the case here. WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:RFD#D8 also applies. -- Tavix (talk) 00:17, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Highly implausible typo ViperSnake151  Talk  21:49, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note - this was brought up by Zoupan at WT:CSD suggesting it be deleted because It is annoyingly coming up when searching for "Greek minority".
Weak keep - I don't think that "annoying" is a rationale for deletion on its own. It's not a typo, but it is a miscapitalization. However, this points to the right target and is reasonably frequently used, though that might be because it stands out in search results rather than actually being typed. Maybe it's harmful because it's in all-caps, but using the criteria we usually evaluate these with, there's nothing wrong with it. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 21:58, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Highly implausible typo, and annoying. Although "annoying" is not a criteria, there is no real reason to have these kind of miscapitalized redirects. It is not an abbreviation. Furthermore, "Greek Minority in Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" has 0 hits in Gbooks and Gscholar.--Zoupan 00:01, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Zoupan. Besides, there isn't any encyclopedic benefit to keeping this. -- Tavix (talk) 00:19, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'll concede to delete, and I agree with the points above, but I insist on pointing out that this is an instance of WP:IDONTLIKEIT. Thus, per WP:IAR. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 15:23, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment This is a former page title and getting plenty of hits, a combination that would normally make it an obvious keep; but if it's deleted, the redirect at Greek Minority in Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (also a former page title) will probably do the same job. My instinct would still be to keep this, but an ignore-all-rules deletion shouldn't do too much harm. Sideways713 (talk) 16:06, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If this did not exist, then if you were to type GREEK MINORITY IN FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA into the search box, you would end up at Greek Minority in Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia anyway. Try by capitalizing some of your favourite words (since APPLE exists, I typed BUTTRESS and got to buttress without being redirected.) This doesn't work for URLs though. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 16:23, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I know; but WP:RFD#K4 still applies. Sideways713 (talk) 16:47, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, nonsense. ; and p are one space to the right of l and o, respectively, on a keyboard. I doubt that has any significance, but I've been surprised before. -- Tavix (talk) 19:58, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, nonsense, per nom. Sometimes these turn out to be emoticons with proper targets, but I can't wrap my head around what this is supposed to be, if anything. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 20:11, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as nonsense. --Lenticel (talk) 02:07, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep as a misspelling. These characters are directly to the right of the "L" and "O" on a standard QWERTY keyboard. I've actually typed these character accidentally myself when I've meant "LOL". Steel1943 (talk) 02:14, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep {{R from typo}} per Steel, clearly if you are a touch typist, and misplace your right hand, you will type this (on a standard QWERTY English language keyboard (as opposed to non-English keyboards, which don't matter on English Wikipedia)) -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 02:37, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Sure, it's a typo, and possibly plausible, but this is not the kind of typo you would make and then not notice you made it (as opposed to Teh King, for example). Anyone typing this in will immediately recognize that they mistyped and hit the delete key. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 23:17, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Incidentally, "Keith Legend" is the title of a piece of fan fiction I'm working on in which Toby Keith is the last man on earth. --BDD (talk) 14:59, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. I'm not seeing any evidence that Heath Ledger ever went by the surname "Legend", the given name "Keith" or any combination thereof. -- Tavix (talk) 19:52, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - Keith Bryant has an album Ridin' with the Legend, but "keith legend" is not really a plausible search for that. Keith Ledger is a tradesperson with a website; potential BLP issue. Similarly, there is a real Heath Legend, a SoundCloud-level recording artist (entirely non-notable). We should delete them all. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 20:18, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You've piqued my interest. How did that happen? -- Tavix (talk) 19:26, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To summarize: Spacey made fun of Ford when they were both on the Jimmy Kimmel show, then Ford and his brother devoted most of an episode of Ford Nation to trashing the actor for refusing to take a picture with them[1], or something. To which Spacey responded with [2]. Why that came up when I searched "elliot kevin spacey" I don't really know. Basically, they're idiots.[3] [4] [5] [6] Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 20:07, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At the suggestion of 67.70.32.190, I have split these redirects and re-grouped by target, for ease of commenting. These are Asian-target redirects from the Leondeon IP. These are nominated separately because it's possible this is a known pidgin dialect and as such these targets could possibly have an affinity for this language/dialect, however I think they are still of limited use to an English audience and propose deletion. I will restate rationale in the new grouped threads in a moment. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 16:35, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for finding that. Mun of Balhae also has "donggyeong" piped to List of provinces of Balhae, which lists Donggyeong (Gyeongju) as the capital of Yemaek province, but Yemaek is an article about the ethnic group and not about a geographical location or political division. I think you're right, probably. Originally I thought that E is a long way from I on the keyboard, but vowel-swapping is another common form of mistake, not just on the internet. This lists targeted by these redirects are not exclusive to dictators. Also, these redirect could be candidates for WP:REDLINK, given that these could be titles for broader lists of dictators. Steel1943 (talk) 15:37, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both per WP:REDLINK, following nom's rationale. Royal national leaders can be dictators too; most were prior to the development of parliamentary systems. The inclusion criteria for such a list could be quite broad. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 15:59, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft 10[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was withdrawn/keep per the WP:SNOW below. Steel1943 (talk) 15:04, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This term is too ambiguous to be useful, given that it could also be a partial title match for other Microsoft products, such as Microsoft Office. In other words, the term "Microsoft" is not synonymous to its "Windows" product (unless the number after "Microsoft" meets a "9#" format, which this doesn't; those redirects aren't as ambiguous as this nominated one.) Steel1943 (talk) 15:34, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Keep - Reasonable enough that it would be miscalled that. It gets the a reader where they want to go if they search for the term, I can't imagine they'd be looking for anything else besides Windows 10. [changed to weak keep per Tarvix] Recentism clouded my thought on the topic, along with my excitement to be getting the product free soon. It is indeed ambiguous to "10" versions of any of product they have made or might make in the future.Godsy(TALKCONT) 07:49, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment most hits I get are for "windows 10" (could be due to WP:RECENTISM) but one thing to keep in mind is that is ambiguous. Microsoft has put out a few other products that can be considered "10", including Microsoft Office XP (known as Office 10 during development) and Microsoft Office 2010. I get a couple other hits for "version 10" as well. -- Tavix (talk) 07:30, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Microsoft and Windows are synonymous in so many usages. I think I had a shirt with this image when I was a kid, which is so embarrassing in hindsight. But by contrast, it's very rare to hear of Microsoft Office referred to only as "Microsoft". I can't think of a single instance. You'd need prior context (e.g., Alice: "Do you use Open Office?" Bob: "No, I prefer Microsoft."). "Office" is by far the common abbreviation for Microsoft Office. Definitely tag with {{R from incorrect name}}, though. --BDD (talk) 14:37, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This phrase is mentioned in the article, but there doesn't seem to be a good section to retarget this redirect to explain to the reader what a "command block" is, nor is this example notable enough to even be included as a redirect. The first thing that comes to my mind when I see this phrase is it being a misnomer for "command prompt". Steel1943 (talk) 15:19, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Red link is a disambiguation page that does not have any entries titled "This article does not exist". The only option I can see for retargetting would be Wikipedia:Red link, but that would make it a cross-namespace redirect, and I oppose that. Steel1943 (talk) 15:16, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A large number of alphabet-soup redirects created by the IP creator of Leondeon, also currently at RfD. Another user has suggested that these may be a Korean visual dialect but at least for the non-Asian targets there would be no affinity for such a dialect, so I expect this to be of no use to English language readers, and propose to delete per WP:FORRED. Some are categorized as {{R from misspelling}} but I don't believe any are plausible. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 15:09, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete WP:NOTDIC Wikipedia is not a Korean dictionary -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 16:25, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. "Meksiko" is probably the most plausible of these, since it's used in a number of non-Korean languages (and accordingly, gets more hits). But even there, WP:RFOREIGN applies. Sideways713 (talk) 18:41, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect seems like a major WP:CRYSTAL violation, given that the 3rd title in the series hasn't even been formally announced or released, and the second title was released almost a decade ago. Steel1943 (talk) 15:04, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment there is an Episode 4 in the article though. -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 16:27, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Correct, but in the article, that phrase is referring to "Episode 4" of Half-Life 2. The redirect's title could make anyone searching it think that they will find information about a 4th official title in the series. Steel1943 (talk) 16:33, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see this being a likely or plausible misspelling. Also, all search engine results I receive for this term are related to My Little Pony, but the connection does not seem encyclopedic. Steel1943 (talk) 15:01, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This article was created through transferring the episode list from Henry Danger, but user who did this did not follow the guidelines for splitting content from one article to another, as stated in WP:SPLIT and WP:CWW. This is being listed for discussion/deletion because the title of the article does not follow proper format to use sentence case, per WP:TITLEFORMAT (capital E in Episodes). MPFitz1968 (talk) 06:42, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Contents before redirect were an unattributed copy of an other article so no need for the edit history. There is already a redirect at the proper title List of Henry Danger episodes tagged as with possibilities and that is where the topic will end up. A search for the title with the uppercase Episodes will return the title with the lower case version so this redirect adds nothing of value if kept and adds confusion as well as both titles will show up on a search. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:38, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep A redirect titled List of Henry Danger Episodes points to a list of Henry Danger episodes. Keeps don't get more obvious than that. Redirects for different capitalizations are always useful and never valid for delete. Also, deletion would kill external links to Wikipedia for zero benefit to the project. Delete. According to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eminem is Back (3rd nomination), this is an "unofficial, non-notable bootleg album that has not had significant coverage." As you can tell from the AFD, it has been deleted several times in the past. The article was deleted but these redirects were not, so there's still a little bit of trash that needs to be taken out. No mentions of this at Eminem or at Eminem discography. -- Tavix (talk) 03:59, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as confusing. Also there's a very little chance that this will grow into an article.--Lenticel (talk) 07:08, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
