Template:Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions List of Managers[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete all. As closing admin, I've moved the page history of "Template:Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions Season-by-Season Records" to Talk:Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions/Old template for attribution preservation. Deryck C. 23:22, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A few years ago, these templates were redirected to the team's article as redundant to content already there. So while a reader simply looking for this information could well be satisfied, the fact that they're cross-namespace redirects makes them substantially misleading and unlikely search terms for article content. Anyone searching for this is more likely looking for an actual template, which they won't find. (Also, hell of a team name.) --BDD (talk) 16:33, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all plainly harmful, any transclusion will transclude an article and not a template, resulting in many problems -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 11:09, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Forever spring[edit]

Not at target and very vague. Delete? Legacypac (talk) 12:09, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: My opinion pertains only to Forever spring. The other redirect, Eternal springtime was added after I made my aforementioned comment. For Eternal springtime, I am neutral since "Eternal spring", a partial match, is mentioned in the target article as an alternate name for the target's subject. Steel1943 (talk) 22:04, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • As a general principle, I don't think it's correct to think of one-off translations like this (even those which might be mentioned in sources) as though they were genuine alternative names. One example of this: Google "Wing Chun teacher" in quotes and you get ten thousand GHits, but "Eternal Springtime teacher" gets none, and "Eternal Spring teacher" a bunch of mis-hits (one for a form of tai chi, the rest for coincidental collocations). 210.6.254.106 (talk) 02:07, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Steel1943. The close synonym "eternal springtime" (another redirect I wouldn't mind seeing deleted) is indeed mentioned in the lede of Wing Chun, but neither this nor that nor any other attempted translations of foreign proper nouns are likely search terms, as has been the general consensus in many RFDs of this type. Additionally, this isn't the only name which might be interpreted this way: see e.g. Yongchun County, Weng Chun, or for that matter Changchun which is sometimes liberally-translated as "Eternal Spring" as in Eternal Spring Shrine, and that's just covering Chinese not a few thousand other languages on Earth. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 16:40, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the second redirect. Legacypac (talk) 02:38, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Greek word that is the source of the Greek word that is the origin of the English word, assuming the article is correct and this can be sourced. If you know Greek you don't need this redirect because you already know the word. If you don't know Green it's useless. The same Greek word is the root of the root of Eisegesis which is an opposing method to Exegesis so we have an X:Y situation. By Neelix. Legacypac (talk) 11:46, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

but it is also the source of the opposite word. Are you sure? Legacypac (talk) 02:30, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Common phrase, not a useful redirect to here. I expected poverty Legacypac (talk) 11:37, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not sure about that. A "lack of resources" doesn't happen just because of "resource depletion": there could also be a lack of resources if sufficient resources did not exist to begin with, meaning in that case, it would not be the result of depletion. Steel1943 (talk) 23:20, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good point. I am going to change my vote to delete. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 19:59, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I dislike resource depletion as well - There is a lack of orange tree resources in Canada and ice resources in Tahiti, which have nothing to do with depletion. Legacypac (talk) 23:27, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In among about 20 slight variation on the title redirects my Neelix, this one jumped out as bad grammar. Legacypac (talk) 11:34, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is occasionally used as a hashtag, but searches show no reliable sources for that. Delete as not very useful. Legacypac (talk) 11:11, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
