Dee dee dee[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was everybody wants them changed, but there's a split of opinion between deletion and retargeting. Default to delete. Deryck C. 22:52, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Although Mencia makes a sound like this in some of his comedy routines, I don't think it's notable enough or a meaningful search term. It's not mentioned in any form at his article. Retargeting to King Dedede could be an option, but I'm leaning delete. --BDD (talk) 16:36, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:USEENGLISH. Si Trew (talk) 16:48, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The only target that could make sense to me is DDD. I'm not sure if I like it though because I don't see anything there that would be spelled that way. {{R from misspelling}} perhaps? I'm fine with deletion too. -- Tavix (talk) 19:54, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget the first two to DDD (disambiguation) -- 05:28, 18 November 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.51.44.60 (talk)
  • Retaregt all three per 70. Do not retarget to Morse code, that would be "Dit dit dit". All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 19:49, 21 November 2015 (UTC).[reply]

  • Delete as vague and since "DDD" does not equal "Dee dee dee". This discussion reminds me of the various radio relay language redirects that were nominated somewhat recently; phonetic spelling of letters are just about as confusing. (Funny; I thought that these redirects currently targeted King Dedede when I saw it in the TOC.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:06, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contour (camera system)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 15:58, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete for the following reasons: The target does not contains the word "contour". Moreover, this redirect is usurpatory, as the word "contour" is commonly used in computer vision (a domain very close to the subject of the target). Unfortunately this use of "contour" is very close to its use in common language, and I cannot find any acceptable target. Certainly Contour (computer vision) would be a right target, but this article does not exist yet D.Lazard (talk) 09:54, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Looking at sources, the camera system is actually Contour. Mova is the company that makes the camera system. It might be better to move the article back to Contour (camera system) but that is a different discussion. -- GB fan 19:46, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep For the reason given by GB fan: I have checked that the system is indeed called "Contour". The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 09:28, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The problem of the current name of the redirect is that a reader who searches for the usage of "contour" in computational geometry may believe that this is an article about the usage of the concept of contour in camera systems. This is how I came to this article. Thus, although redirects are aimed to help the search of articles interesting for the reader, this redirects achieves the opposite result by complicating the search. Deletion was the first way that I had in mind for solving this disambiguation issue. However I agree that this is not a convenient solution for readers searching for the system named Contour. Therefore, I change my nomination for deletion into a nomination for a move, as follows. D.Lazard (talk) 14:01, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename Contour (Mova's camera system) without leaving a redirect. This would clarify that this is about a specific camera system named "Contour", produced by a company called "Mova". This would be clear for people searching for the concept, as well as for people searching for the product. D.Lazard (talk) 14:01, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
