Can't understand why someone would misspell it so. Hoops gza (talk) 17:51, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Goanese Konkani language[edit]

The result of the discussion was 'keep. The nominator's concerns are real and worth noting, so I've tagged this as {{R from incorrect name}}. It appears to be a plausible search term nonetheless, and there's certainly not consensus to delete. --BDD (talk) 16:30, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect should be deleted because the title is an unlikely misnomer:

  • A search on Google Books for the title with quotes doesn't even return a single result. It's very unlikely that someone will search for the phrase "Goanese Konkani language".
  • 'Goanese' is the incorrect word for 'Goan', and it is considered by some to be offensive.
  • The correct term, 'Goan Konkani' refers not to a language, but to a group of dialects. This group of dialects that are still a subset of a language so they don't form a language on their own; therefore the phrase 'Goanese Konkani language', or 'Goan Konkani language' is technically incorrect. The Discoverer (talk) 16:55, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per nom. It seems an acceptable search term from what the nominator outlines. -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 06:54, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Whether something is a language or dialect is often a matter of opinion, so these should be findable by people calling it either. Every language, and every dialect that could reasonably be searched for as a language that is not at the title x language should have a redirect from there. This gives two reasons why this is a plausible search term. Thryduulf (talk) 08:53, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete per WP:CSD#G6, which includes redirects created when moving pages created in the wrong namespace. Thryduulf (talk) 08:55, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Page was moved to template namespace as Editing Template: is the wrong start. NickGibson3900 Talk 09:00, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, implausible typo, might even speedy as R3. Altamel (talk) 19:17, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not especially Korean. - TheChampionMan1234 01:47, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete WP:NOT a translation dictionary. No particular affinity for Korean. The foreign non-regional imperial powers were Macedonian, Chinese, British, Russian, Mongolian, not Korean. -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 04:33, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as per the discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2011 March 22#Verenigde State van Amerika. Plus, there is a sizeable Korean community in the area nowadays. Please refer to Koryo-saram. Olivier (talk) 00:41, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Delete I have looked at the article-turned-redirect history and I agree with the IP below that this article should have been initially speedily deleted for maintenance. Olivier (talk) 04:19, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per the other IP. This was originally a misplaced article, and should have been subject to WP:CSD#A10 when it was created. The name Bactria fell into disuse more than a millenium before Korean deportees arrived there in 1937 (not "nowadays"). Furthermore, language shift towards Russian had already begun among the deportees before they arrived, and it was largely complete by a generation later. 61.10.165.33 (talk) 03:29, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another one that when Googled, returns all WP mirrors. - TheChampionMan1234 00:19, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. This is the English language Wikipedia. How would an English keyboarder possibly type that? Si Trew (talk) 12:03, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: It is a redirect from an alternative spelling, and based on what I've seen with other Native American articles, if you delete the redirect, then the next time someone uses this spelling and gets a redlink, they are going to write a whole article, thus duplicating what's there, then making us have merge discussion and so on. Seriously, until there is an Onondaga wikipedia (there isn't one as far as I know), let's just let it stay. Montanabw(talk) 08:56, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
