The result of the discussion was retarget to J. Cole production discography (non-admin closure). There is a discussion in the very much related thread below of creating a dab page, but this redirect in particular was not brought up there or here, so I conclude that this is both uncontroversial and stale. I'm not quite sure what to do with this one. The only place this song is mentioned is Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. It's not actually from that album; it's referenced in the context with a beef Lamar had with another artist. It's not mentioned on the target page or at Kendrick Lamar discography. I'm requesting deletion per WP:RFD#DELETE #10, or information in an article that makes that unnecessary. BDD (talk) 20:17, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget - there is also a mention in J. Cole production discography that contains some useful information. It informs the reader, by implication, that it was intended for the 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City' album but was left out together with the name of the artist and producers. Readers searching for this term are probably looking for information about its usage, not as a lyric in a song. (It's not mentioned at the target article.) Convert to an article or dab if it can be done within policy; otherwise, delete. BDD (talk) 20:11, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment it seems to be an idiom based on the jig. I'm leaning closer to Delete but the jig article looks like a weak candidate for a redirect. I'm not also sure if it's worth retargetting to the wiktionary entry.--Lenticel (talk) 02:40, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can we have a dab page where one target is on Wikipedia and one is on Wiktionary?   • Delete for a couple of reasons:
  1. I would think that people who don't know the name of the Styx song would think it's named "They Finally Found Me", not "The Jig Is Up", given that it is spoken so fast that people probably think they're saying "The Dig Is Up." (I'm saying this as a person who didn't know who Styx was until about a decade after first hearing their song, Renegade.)
  2. Due to the ambiguity of this term, I believe that neither a retarget, nor the creation of a disambiguation page will benefit our readers. There are several terms that this phrase could refer to, such as defeat, but the existence of these terms without being specifically referred to as the title of this redirect render the redirect overly ambiguous.
However, I do the possibility of a broad concept article at this title explaining the term. So, essentially, "delete per WP:REDLINK." Steel1943 (talk) 20:29, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. The clear consensus is backed up by policy. The principle, as expressed in the comment by Thryduulf, is contained in WP:RFD#HARMFUL. Here, this is an established redirect and there is no suggestion that it is harmful. The name formation 'Cunningham Shoulder Reduction' does occur in Google results so plausibly it may be a search term and, finally, unless there is a good reason, established practice, after a page move, is to keep the original title as a redirect. For context, "saurik" is the internet handle of Jay Freeman, the founder of Cydia. I believe this redirect should be deleted under reason #10 for deletion: saurik is notable and could have an article written about him and his work, which includes significant work apart from Cydia (Google Books search, articles like this one and this one, etc). It'd be helpful to leave this as a redlink indicating the possibility for an article about him, such as the link to saurik in Acer Iconia Tab A500, instead of redirecting the name to one project. (As disclosed on my user page, I work on Cydia with saurik, but I am writing this just as a Wikipedia editor.) Dreamyshade (talk) 08:11, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Propose for Delete. I just did a move/rename on this article, so the previous redirect now redirects to itself. Thus, I don't believe this redirect is necessary anymore. Also, the existance of the redirect is preventing me from renaming the topic to a version using correct capitalization. EDIT: Also fixed capital letters in RfD request.     • I disagree. the existance of {{R from other capitalization}} doesn't address the fact that the existance of the redirect (now edited, because I'm a newbie editor and didn't know you could move directly into a redirect at the time) is preventing the article from being moved into the correct capitalization (in other words the article currently violates WP:NCCAPS). That falls right under the G6 criteria of "deleting redirects or other pages blocking page moves". {{R from move}} doesn't apply either since the article was moved from Cong you bing, not the other capitalized form.   Remorseless Angel   讲  15:54, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
