The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 18:03, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Both redirects are unused template sub-pages resulting from page moves. Both are now broken, being triple and double redirects, respectively. There are no current transclusions of these redirects.

Ordinarily, I'd consider these to be G6 candidates. However, Technical 13 has objected to deletion with a concern about breaking historic uses of these templates, so the "uncontroversial" requirement of G6 is not met. Read his objections in his own words at Template talk:Age in years, months and days#Post-merge redirects. Since the redirects are protected, I've added a {{edit protected}} request to that discussion asking an admin tag them with notices of this discussion.

Before it was moved, the title of the first redirect was transcluded from its parent template (appears broken due to triple redirect), and is unlikely to have been transcluded anywhere else. The parent template was subsequently changed to use the new name. The second redirect was created by a recent page move moving the first redirect; that title has not been transcluded anywhere. – PartTimeGnome (talk | contribs) 22:25, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete unused template subpages. 117Avenue (talk) 22:29, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It used to be that you had to have stacks of subtemplates ({{convert}} is the classic example) because of limitations on the Wikimedia parser, in particular that it did not allow any form of loop, one of the Holy Trinity really as Edsger Dijkstra noted back in, what, 1961, any language is a Chomsky Type II Grammar if it has at least one conditional, one loop, and one sequence operation; Wikipedia templates did not have loops (attempting to subvert it even through mutual recursion were detected) so it ended up in a mass of subtemplates. Now that templates apparently can be written in a scripting language, that has loops, there is no need for this roundabout way of doing things. Si Trew (talk) 12:34, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, propose reverse redirect of Edsger W. Dijkstra to Edsger Dijkstra, I don't see the middle initial is commonly in use or necessary, but I will do that after this closes per WP:TITLE. It is not as if Edsger Dijkstra needs disambiguating. Dijkstra of course does, I have known at least six in my life, none of whom are themselves notable apart from Ed, but shows the name is relatively common.
