This was a short-lived political meme based on a minor Futurama character. It's not mentioned at the target article and never should be. BDD (talk) 16:48, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Steel1943 (talk) 17:36, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. My search didn't come up with reliable sources. Most of the hits are either comedy sites or blogs by people who don't like the US President that much. --Lenticel (talk) 20:21, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Autism Research Institute[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was moved over redirect. --BDD (talk) 14:38, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to suggest that the redirect be re-targeted to the "Autism Research Institute" section of the article for its founder, Bernard Rimland. The current redirect was established when the article for Autism Research Institute was replaced by one for its former initiative, Defeat Autism Now!, as ARI was found not to be "notable", whereas DAN! was. DAN! was discontinued in 2011, but the ARI continues to be an active organization with many initiatives. Since there's a section in Rimland's article that provides an overview of ARI (albeit with a few issues that do need fixing), this seems like the more natural place for the redirect to be targeted than an initiative that is no longer current and does not fully explain ARI. If the redirect is moved, the DAN! article should include a link to the ARI section in Rimland's article (which it currently does not), and likewise, there should be a link from Rimland's article back to DAN!. Please note that I work for the ARI, so I'm bringing this for discussion rather than making any edits to the DAN! or Rimland article myself. Also, just to be cautious and not edit directly due to my conflict of interest, I've not added the redirect discussion template to the DAN! article but will ask on that article's talk page for someone to add that. Difulton (talk) 21:55, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: I have added the template to the redirect. Previous recent discussions on this topic here (AfD) and here (extant orgs noticeboard), as well as extensive discussion at Talk:Defeat Autism Now!. Ivanvector (talk) 23:27, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Swap article/redirect, i.e. delete this redirect and move Defeat Autism Now! to this title, and expand that article into one about the organization. The ARI seems to be a borderline notable organization based on the outcomes of previous discussions. Their Defeat Autism Now! program was probably more notable at one time but it was notable for having been famously ignorant, and the organization seems now to have acknowledged that. I disagree with merging either of these articles to the founder's article because of that - the organization seems now to be moving toward more mainstream scientific pursuits in the fight against autism, or at least they have stopped promoting Rimland's fringey views. Ivanvector (talk) 23:35, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Swap etc per User:Ivanvector. Information about the organisation belongs at the article for the organisation, not at the one for its founder. (Of course it should be referred to there too.) Si Trew (talk) 05:49, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Heartilly[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was withdrawn by nominator. I've never seen a surname redirect to a fictional target before (unless they are commonly referred by their surname, as mentioned below), but it does seem useful in lieu of other possible targets. (There was one "delete" vote in this discussion; if there is a different opinion about this redirect that could lead to a different result, feel free to renominate.) Steel1943 (talk) 21:18, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I question this redirect's helpfulness, given that it is a {{R from surname}} for a fictional character that is not referred solely by their surname at any point in the game, to my knowledge. (In most, if not all, Final Fantasy titles, most playable characters, such as Rinoa Heartilly, are referred by their surname very seldom, if at all (the only exception that I can think of is Adelbert Steiner); the given names are used constantly without the surnames.) Also, this redirect seems to not be a candidate for disambiguation due to lack of other titles that utilize this word. Steel1943 (talk) 19:02, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Unfortunately there's no IRL heartlily plant. --Lenticel (talk) 04:10, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep {{R from surname}} is used in two cases: when someone is commonly known by surname alone (e.g., Hitler) or when we only have one article on a person with that name (e.g., Passendorfer). This falls under the second category. I doubt it's going to be an especially likely search term, but it's unambiguous. I see little benefit to keeping, but I don't see any benefit to deletion. --BDD (talk) 15:01, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per BDD. Si Trew (talk) 15:20, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm going to withdraw this; I considered BDD's comment prior to them even posting their vote here, and seeing someone else think the same confirms my thoughts about this. Steel1943 (talk) 21:15, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy deleted per criterion G7 by Mojo Hand. Steel1943 (talk) 22:12, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I really have no idea why this page redirects to this article. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 05:12, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • One of the members, Michael Hernandez is in the group Foreign Mob with his manager Carlos Suarez. Sci-fi the Genius, 23 December 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sci-fi the Genius (talkcontribs)
  • The subject is mentioned at the target article; the question remains whether Foreign Mob is likely to have its own article at some point. If so, delete per WP:REDLINK. If not, the redirect is probably fine as a related topic. --BDD (talk) 14:50, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Even without the misspelling, this phrase isn't mentioned in the target article, and based on results from a Google Books search, it's not even particularly associated with this party. BDD (talk) 14:39, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The redirect's title is too ambiguous to be helpful; this redirect could target any list of candidates that are running against a male candidate for whatever, and last I checked, those lists don't exist. If these lists did exist, they would actually be lists of every candidate, including whoever "his" refers. Steel1943 (talk) 21:55, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is Master list of Nixon's political opponents, but that's not a Wikipedia list but a real-life list. Si Trew (talk) 13:42, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete "His" is just too vague. It could pertain to anybody's political enemies. --Lenticel (talk) 09:46, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Perhaps it was created for John Adams' article. It wouldn't have any broader use than that. NotUnusual (talk) 01:58, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. More likely it was created in response to this change to George Washington's Farewell Address on 25 July 2009 (7.13 am → 7.29 am), which introduced the misspelled link; the redirect was created at 7.59 am. The spelling error seems to have been fixed (still as a link) with this change two days later by the same user, and the redlink his political opponents unlinked shortly after with this change. The redirect was created by User:Epignosis, who made many contributions to that article around that time, but seems not to have been active since July 2010 with – [mirabile dictu] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help) – the last contribution being to the same article.
Considering the R's short and inglorious active life, I think we can safely delete it. Si Trew (talk) 13:38, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Anamese units of measurement[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 14:36, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelling -- moved to Annamese units of measurement -- but questionable whether any of this is needed Imaginatorium (talk) 07:40, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: The nominated redirect is the result of a redirect being moved from the nominated title to Annamese units of measurement, both of which target Vietnamese units of measurement. Steel1943 (talk) 07:55, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment (by nominator) Slight correction: Annam is also sometimes spelled Anam, so theoretically this is a "Variant" rather than a misspelling. Imaginatorium (talk) 08:18, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the nominator's preceding comment; plausible spelling variations are helpful redirects. Steel1943 (talk) 21:49, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as above. Si Trew (talk) 06:43, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - nominator again. I don't really understand the point of redirects from terms which are not referenced anywhere, are not obvious misspellings, and are vanishingly unlikely to be typed: if "Annamese units of measurement" (standard spelling) is really necessary, then so is Anamese units of measurement (unusual spelling), but so is "Units of measurement in Anam/Annam" and about 20 more. Personally I would think them all unnecessary, but otherwise, just keep this one as well, if it saves time/hassle. Imaginatorium (talk) 07:42, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Well, we wouldn't likely create it, but we might do some (if little) harm if we delete it: there might be links from external sources, links in old versions of articles, etc. Transposing M for N, or adding or removing a doubled letter, does not seem an unlikely phemonemon (phenonemon?), especially considering their proximity on many keyboard layouts. Si Trew (talk) 13:36, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep for now as a plausible misspelling--Lenticel (talk) 02:22, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 14:35, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is not mentioned in the target article, and popular search engines primarily show up with results for an Italian hardcore punk band named "The Smashrooms". Steel1943 (talk) 06:46, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. My search points to the band as well. Perhaps WP:REDLINK might be a plausible reason for deletion for this RfD. --Lenticel (talk) 01:29, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment. That's "The Smashrooms", though. The band does seem to have one CD/LP released, Wildfire, but that doesn't meet WP:BAND ("Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable"). Si Trew (talk) 14:25, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a confusing and misleading redirect. "Nintendo All-Stars" refers to the target, but "...to the Rescue" does not. Also, upon using a popular search engine, this term returns a lot of Disney-related results, probably due to Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, as well as results for Super Mario All-Stars, but little or no related results for the redirect's current target. No such list exists at the target article. Mentions of "stages" are sprinkled all around the "History" section of the target article, but not really enough detail for readers to expect to find the information they are looking for in the event they look up this redirect. This is a made-up name for a fan-created version of the game series that does not exist. In addition, the word "kerfuffle" is nowhere in the target article; the redirects do not describe their target, but rather a subject/concept that if existed on Wikipedia, would violate WP:NOTFANSITE. For these reasons, delete. Steel1943 (talk) 05:44, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All of these redirects represent a possible name for a game in the Super Smash Bros. game series that has both yet to be released or yet to be announced. Per the series' history, "Super Smash Bros. 5" will not even be announced until around the time History of video game consoles (ninth generation) (9th generation of video game consoles) is created on Wikipedia, and that will probably not be for at least five more years. So, delete all per WP:CRYSTALBALL. Steel1943 (talk) 04:21, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
