A moved template with a link that serves no purpose any more, just creating confusion The Banner talk 09:30, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. It is clear that consensus is that Bell character is not an appropriate target, and while there is support for deletion I find the arguments for pointing it at the dab page much stronger. Thryduulf (talk) 18:18, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This unicode symbol is redirecting to Bell, a disambiguation page. The correct target is in my opinion Bell character, but for some reason people keep linking it to the disambiguation page. So this redirect should be removed or finally targeted correctly. The Banner talk 09:11, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A previous RfD targeted the link to Bell character upon closure by a non-admin but later changed his mind and closed as keep, reinstating the link to the dp. This happened on a request of the only guy who said that the character was linked correctly... The Banner talk 09:20, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Bell character is about U+0007, a control character which traditionally represented a beep or a screen flash. 🔔 is U+1F514, a picture of a bell found in emoji. They have no connection in origin, purpose, use, or display. Their only similarity is their coincidental names. Therefore, Bell character is inappropriate as a target.
I think that Bell (instrument) is a better target than Bell, since 🔔 is a picture of the instrument, and not of the other bells listed on the disambiguation page. Gorobay (talk) 12:58, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Could it be possible to create an article about U+0007? The Banner talk 19:25, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not only is it possible, it has already been done: Bell character. Gorobay (talk) 21:10, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Bell character is a different character, U+0007, not U+1F514. As there are multiple types of bells at the disambiguation page, I don't see a reason why the picture of a bell wouldn't redirect to the disambiguation page. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 00:48, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh, is there anyone out there willing to solve the problem? This redirect makes articles and templates redirect to disambiguation pages. There is an organised effort going on to solve the links to disambiguation pages and target them correctly. This procedure here prevent WikiProject Disambiguation from doing just that... The Banner talk 09:13, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Special:WhatLinksHere/🔔 What are you talking about? Nothing links here. And {{sofixit}} why don't you fix those templates or articles, whatever they may be, since they don't seem to exist. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 00:50, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • just delete for now. It's pretty obvious we don't have a particular target this could be pointed at. Mangoe (talk) 14:55, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete it. The bell is entirely unlikely to be a useful redirect wherever it points. Ducknish (talk) 17:29, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete looks like a square to me. (see comments below)--Lenticel (talk) 01:02, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm still considering Delete per nom. The discussion above implies that we have no set target that we could use for this character.--Lenticel (talk) 03:31, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment just because you have the wrong fonts installed does not make that a good reason to delete something. Should we delete all redirects that have squares then (could be every single non-ASCII title, in some people's cases)? -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 01:12, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Comment is this character supported in a majority of computers or a select few specialized users? --Lenticel (talk) 03:34, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • The article on emoji indicates that Windows 8 supports it (which is indeed what I see on one of my machines) but it appears that earlier versions do not, at least not be default. I can almost see emoji as a target, though I don't know whether or not this is clear enough given massive tables of characters there. Mangoe (talk) 15:26, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • (reset indent) Comment fair enough. If this character is supported by more advanced and widely available computers then I need to change my comment.--Lenticel (talk) 03:24, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
