Self-explanatory, I hope. NE Ent 14:37, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Although my initial reaction was to wonder whether this was a G10 speedy (attack page), it is consistently getting a lot of hits (around 30/month) and google results show that the term "Masshole" appears not be used exclusively as an insult but seems to have been adopted as a term of self-description by quite a few folks. I'll drop a note at the Massachusetts WikiProject about this discussion. Thryduulf (talk) 17:59, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Interesting; as an editor living an adjacent state my not reliable original research is that it's pretty much used as an insult; googling I see that Thryduulf is correct that there's an alternative interpretation. However the Massachusetts article doesn't reference the term (although there's a talk page discussion on the term). So it seems that having a stub article explaining the term would be okay, and having a redirect to a section of the article discussing the term would be okay, but as it is now it seems like a G10. • Keep per Thryduulf. No valid reason for deletion, and G10 is for "Pages that disparage, threaten, intimidate or harass their subject or some other entity, and serve no other purpose." this redirect serves a purpose, re-detecting readers to the article about the Massachusetts Commonwealth from an other name. Delete This redirect seems to make no sense. Tazerdadog (talk) 22:45, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep this is a well used redirect. The ad files seem to be named e.g. qxz-ad1.gif and so I guess there is some connection between the project and the letters, but I don't know what it is (I'll ask though). My lack and your lack of knowledge is irrelevant though - it's being used, and it's not in the way of anything else so it's a clear keep. Thryduulf (talk) 00:13, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Notes left at Template talk:Wikipedia ads and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council. Thryduulf (talk) 00:21, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. I was suspicious this was a roundabout way to introduce ads on Wikipedia from bad faith contributors, but all the ad GIF files are for Wikipedia/WikiMedia itself (e.g. to advertise annual for donations). As [[User::Thryduulf]] says, they appear to be well used (from my cursory sampling), and if they are for WP's own purposes they rightly belong in WP namespace, even though this results in a cross-namespace redirect. As for the naming, I can't find any good reason for it being that either, beside being a nice short name that you can type very easily on the extreme left of a (US/UK layout) keyboard. My surname is quite nice to be able to type in that way with a coffee in my right hand. Si Trew (talk) 08:50, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • WP shortcuts often go to other namespaces without issue - it's only the article namespace that's problematical. Anyway, in all cases simply being a CNR is not a reason in itself to delete. Thryduulf (talk) 09:48, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I created this shortcut as I thought the letters are quite memorable, and to be the one that will never be mistaken for being related to commercial advertisements on Wikipedia, at which I think it succeeds at least. Seems not to be used much, though. At the time of creation, I did not know the origin of the letter combination either, but now while digging through page histories I see that they probably came from User:Qxz, which used to be an alternative account of User:Gurch. I abstain. Keφr 20:04, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
