Ok. So there's a fictional character from (the equally fictional) Kettlecorn, Kansas who was redirected to the Suite Life article per AfD. But this doesn't seem to be a plausible mistake for that fictional place. "kettlepot kansas" -wikipedia essentially just returns noise. I can't see this being very useful. Patriotic Alliance → Patriotic Alliance (Greece) (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]

I would like this redirect to the Greek party to be deleted because there is another article about a political party called Patriotic Alliance, which has been disambiguated with "(South Africa)" in parentheses and this is an active party, unlike the Greek one, which was dissolved in 2007. The redirect to the article on the defunct Greek party gives it too much prominence and makes it harder for South Africans searching for information on the active party in their country to find the article relating to Patriotic Alliance (South Africa). Hold on. If you're saying the South African party is the primary topic for "Patriotic Alliance," what you really want to do is request a move of Patriotic Alliance (South Africa) to Patriotic Alliance. If there is no primary topic, Patriotic Alliance should be a disambiguation page with both parties listed. Actually, it's good that you brought this up, because a title like Patriotic Alliance shouldn't redirect to a title like Patriotic Alliance (Greece) anyway—that's unnecessary disambiguation. --BDD (talk) 08:01, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  - Actually, would you mind please deleting the redirect and renaming Patriotic Alliance (South Africa) to Patriotic Alliance. If an administrator could delete the redirect I'd also be able to rename the South African page. Hope I'm following protocol here ... a bit new to this. I would suggest putting in a request at WP:RMTR, and from there an administrator can move it to a full discussion if he or she thinks it could be controversial. I don't doubt that the South African party has a better claim to the name than the Greek one, but in a discussion, I wouldn't be surprised if people said there was no primary topic and that there should be a disambiguation page. That tends to be the case with political parties. Even though I would say there's a clear primary topic for "Democratic Party" and "Republican Party," our titles are still Democratic Party (United States) and Republican Party (United States). Disambiguate as there is also the Honduran Patriotic Alliance, Democratic Patriotic Alliance of Kurdistan, Patriotic Alliance for Change, Patriotic Alliance for Territorial Integrity and Sint Maarten Patriotic Alliance. A quick Google suggests that the South African party is more prominent than the others, but primary dab is probably best. I'll create Patriotic Alliance (disambiguation) for now. Disambiguate. This is quite obviously a good redirect for this target, i.e. if no other pages existed called "Patriotic Alliance" but we still wanted to have the Greek article at its current location, we'd definitely want this redirect to be in place. In such a situation, we should never delete the redirect, because if the current setup is problematic, retargeting is the only helpful choice — right now it's hard to find all but one of the articles with "Patriotic Alliance" in their titles, but deletion would make it hard to find the Greek article without making it easier to find the others.
