Unused and user-unfriendly welcoming template redirect The Banner talk 22:33, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    • The classic reply of a user who prefers to create an user-unfriendly welcoming template because typing the full 18 letters is too difficult and tiresome. Unfortunately, the new user now gets a template hammered on his/her page the does not give a clue about its meaning. Technically it maybe correct, but from the viewpoint of user-friendliness it is a nightmare. The Banner talk 12:46, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Reply - Redirects are cheap, and the entire coding of a wikipedia page can be tedious to sift through anyway. {{dnbtu}} combined with {{Welcome to Wikipedia}} shows lines and lines of text with which even a seasoned computer programmer may have difficulty. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:52, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • I know that argument, as you have used that before. But this is also about Wikipedia being user-friendly. Your redirect fails on that point, damaging the positive work of the Teahouse. The Banner talk 17:02, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as confusing shorthand. Maybe a more appropriate shortcut would be Template:Bite (not about biting), or else why didn't you also create Template:Tianu? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:48, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Reply - Under which of the 10 criteria of WP:R#DELETE does this fall?
Also, when will Template:Rozz Williams be relisted or otherwise dispositioned? --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:02, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete Essentially harmless, but too novel a search term to be useful. --BDD (talk) 16:19, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Speedy Delete (R3: Recently created, implausible redirect) by User:Amatulic Lenticel (talk) 02:09, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect left after a move but it's unclear why the page was moved to the title "Alyssa (stand-up comic)" in the first place since I can find no reference whatsoever that she ever was a stand-up comic. Keeping the redirect is confusing. Pichpich (talk) 19:08, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Keep as redirect ~ Amory (utc) 00:00, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I created a dab page for the many pages relating to files but it was changes back to a redirest to Help:Files. ON the principle of least surprise it should be a dab page since an editor Wikipedia:Files may want any of the possible pages that I had listed in the dab page. Note that there was a discussion about the revert at Wikipedia talk:File namespace#Revert -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 02:38, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Thryduulf (talk) 17:46, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your dab page was copied to Help:Files#See also, and I copied the lead sentence. I'm not sure this really qualifies as a disambiguation, as all the topics are related and could potentially be merged. Generally we disambiguate topics that would never possibly be merged.
