November 10[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on November 10, 2012

Template:Wikitravelpar[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was No Action (non-admin closure) G8 Speedy Deletion pending. After the target is deleted the redirects will be deleated. (per Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2012_November_10#Template:Wikitravel) Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 11:57, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

These need search and replace, followed by deletion of the WT versions:

Total is a little over three thousand affected pages. Wikivoyage (voy:) is now a WMF project, Wikitravel is a fork of the same project owned by a for-profit (Internet Brands) which is currently suing various individual WMF volunteers per [1]. We need to link to our own sibling projects, not commercial rivals. I've also raised this item on project: bot requests due to the number of pages involved. Redirecting anything which mentions WT isn't OK (potential trademark issue), this needs search-and-replace, then deletion of the WT name and mark. • Comment Wikivoyage (founded 2006) is the fork, not Wikitravel (founded 2003), according to our article on Wikivoyage -- 70.24.186.245 (talk) 06:27, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep redirect at least until all the links are updated. Even at that point it's probably worth keeping around for at least a few months to monitor for any continued usage - it's been around for a long while so it's not unlikely people will continue to use it. Thryduulf (talk) 16:51, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the links will be updated very soon after the TfD has been closed (considering it was successful).  Hazard-SJ  ✈  01:54, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Isn't the idea to delete the template and any redirects as soon as the links are updated, so that any subsequent attempt to use it fails with a big fat red link like this one? That way, anyone using it will know it's incorrect and fix their error. In any case, "what links here" can still be monitored... even for a redlink, special:whatlinkshere/like this one. K7L (talk) 01:09, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is a request to delete the redirect target at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2012 November 10. Wouldn't the redirect be subject to speedy deletion per WP:CSD#G8 if the template is deleted, making this discussion unnecessary? --Stefan2 (talk) 13:01, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. no real justification to be redirected to Visual Collaborative -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 19:32, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't that a little to tenuous a reason? -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 06:46, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How long have you been a regular at Redirects for Discussion, Alan? I would think that, by now, you already know what I'm going to say. For example, since Olufeko probably doesn't meet our notability guideline, having the redirect discourages creation of an article. Since we don't have an article about him, the redirect points readers to a page that says who he is. This title has been in use for nearly a year, so deleting would kill external links. Thus, there is no reason to delete, and plenty of reasons to keep it. Are you surprised that I said any of this? Ego White Tray (talk) 13:25, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - I see no reason to encourage article creation, seems to be redirected to the right place. WilyD 08:17, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino Musicians[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Retarget to Category:Filipino musicians. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 08:59, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I want this redirect to be deleted because the redirect name Filipino Musicians should refer to all musicians who has a Filipino ancestry not only to a single musician named Juan Oro Rojo which is happening in this redirect. Janbryan (talk) 19:03, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What about redirecting to Category:Filipino musicians ? I'm not sure what the rules are about redirects to categories. Siuenti (talk) 14:32, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Redirects to categories are fine, but redirects to targets in the article namespace are generally preferred. In this case there is a direct category match and nothing quite relevant in the article namespace so retargeting to the category is a good suggestion. Thryduulf (talk) 22:46, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to Help:Redirect#Syntax, it is possible to do that. I will go on and try this. Janbryan (talk) 03:00, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ara Harutyunyan[edit]

The result of the discussion was all speedy deleted by user:bbb23 with the rationale "blp issue". Thryduulf (talk) 16:53, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Konullu created the Gone in 60 Seconds (bank fraud) article, which is being AFD'd, but then he started creating redirect articles of the alleged criminals, most of whom have common Armenian names. This potentially creates a BLP issue.

Common Armenian name, redirects to a crime article. I might have missed some. Antelope Hunter (talk) 18:49, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-chavista[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Retarget to Chavismo. Ruslik_Zero 17:42, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Is it appropriate that "anti-Chavista" redirects to Hugo Chávez? It seems to me that if someone were searching for the former, they wouldn't find what they were looking for in the latter. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, but it seems like it's possible or probable that a "pro-chavista" created the redirect.

Reasons / Justification:

WP:RFD#DELETE The redirect could be described as "The redirect makes no sense, such as redirecting Apple to Orange"
It also doesn't seem to fit with neutrality of redirects

Sorry that I'm not a good wiki formatter and that my suggestions are in plain text without any html.--Lacarids (talk) 08:26, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Fixed your formatting, but no opinion. A412 (TalkC) 04:45, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Chavismo, to give a clearer idea of what they are opposing. Ego White Tray (talk) 03:28, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bert (video game)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep both. Ruslik_Zero 17:49, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No matches in target for just "Bert". It was a Q*bert clone for the Mac, but the lack of mention in the target, and the lack of traffic for the term, make it unlikely. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 03:34, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - plausible search term, no rationale for deletion. WilyD 08:16, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
