protophysics[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. Consensus is that the present target is inappropriate, there does not appear to be a better one, and there may be potential for an article on the Lorenzen/Janich theory, which would be better encouraged by a redlink. I suggest deletion of this redirect. Protophysics is a theory suggested by Paul Lorenzen and Peter Janich, two notable persons in the philosophy of science. The theory is not widely accepted. However, their argument is made on the level of methodology, an area where science seldomly is unified. To me, the redirect seems to be saying "protophysics is pseudoscience" – a gesture, I guess, that is not supposed to be the function of redirects. 130.235.172.127 (talk) 17:55, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as-is. This has been the redirect for that page as long ago as 2005. Project pages don't need to have easily-guessed {{shortcut}}s. If there are other project pages that seem to be appropriate targets, we should just put some hatnotes on Wikipedia:Why create an account?.   • keep as is per BigNate. Changing the target, even to a dab pag, of such well-established shortcuts as this will break countless old discussions by changing or introducing ambiguity into the meaning of people's comments.   • Disambiguate I find that about 10% of very short shortcuts point to the wrong article at the time they were actually written. WP:GFDL was almost always pointing to the wrong page until I disambiguated it, for example. I would expect that the majority of uses for this shortcut or similarly pointing to the wrong page.
