Neochrysops[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was converted to disambiguation page. The species-specific redirects are unchanged. Orlady (talk) 17:31, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Neochrysops redirects to Lepidochrysops species

I suggest the redirect to Lepidochrysops (a type of butterfly) is deleted, since Neochrysops is a type of horse-fly. Carl von Blixen (talk) 21:33, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is it not also a former name for a type of butterfly? Siuenti (talk) 22:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete looks like a monotypic genus. I suggest deletion to encourage creation of the article Neochrysops globosus.--Lenticel (talk) 00:50, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note also other redirects of this form. The original nomination is for the Lepidochrysops genus article, whereas there are also 41 species-level redirects. See also Neochrysops listing at Special:AllPrefixIndex. I've listed them with their targets below the nomination. BigNate37(T) 01:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Odd, according to ITIS there's only one member for this genus. Was this a former name/synonym for Lepidochrysops? If so maybe we need to Disambiguate--Lenticel (talk) 01:10, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Each of the Lepidochrysops species articles I looked at lists the Neochrysops name(s) as synonyms. God help me if our articles are wrong though, because I don't know thing one about biology without them. BigNate37(T) 01:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've asked Wikipedia:WikiProject Lepidoptera for help. I hope they could clarify this issue better than we could.--Lenticel (talk) 02:15, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Seems to me the best approach is to have a disambiguation page for Neochrysops that allows for linking to Neochrysops globosus the fly and to Lepidochrysops the butterfly genus, with a note that Neochrysops is a synonym of Lepidochrysops. Dger (talk) 14:59, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support dab per Dger.--Lenticel (talk) 00:37, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Murder Capital of the United States[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget. Retargeted to United States cities by crime rate. Orlady (talk) 17:27, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Colloquial title. New Orleans does not even have the most murders out of American cities. This article lists New York City as the murder capital in 2012. Dough4872 21:11, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete and salt I can't think of a single legitimate use for a redirect like this. Ego White Tray (talk) 03:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think the term is unreasonable to have as a redirect. We have more dubious terms out there, and often it's better to properly educate someone searching for a term like this than to wash our hands of it. The problem I see is that even if this particular distinction is (1) judged to be notable and (2) sufficiently sourced and verified, it's very much a time-sensitive distinction and I don't see it getting the regular attention such "honours" need to stay accurate. BigNate37(T) 04:52, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Amending my remarks: retarget per Thryduulf. Either of those targets satisfies the concerns I raised. BigNate37(T) 21:02, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • retarget to United States cities by crime rate ot Crime in the United States#Geography of crime.. Although neither use the phrase they both deal with the topic. Although the former target should I think be an ideal fit, it's a slightly this article with statistics only for 2010. The latter is entirely prose but with some inline statistics and although not a huge section deals a little with the history and links to the first suggested target with a main article link (how I found it). If the cities by crime rate article included more history then I'd say it was a perfect fit, as things stand however I don't know which I prefer. If we choose to retarget it would be a good idea to note on the talk and maybe in the markup the incoming link, as I can see the potential for a future article specifcally about murder/violent crime that this should point to, however I can't find we have one now (and the need for one isn't imminent).
As for the issue of retargeting vs other actions, I see this as quite a notable search term - newspapers, at least in Britain, frequently use the construction X capital of Y, particularly with reference to crime rates (and health). Thryduulf (talk) 10:39, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lesser kudu[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was procedural close. This is a move request, and the move was performed by User:Hadal at 21:17, 23 July 2012 (UTC). In the future, please take matters such as this to Wikipedia:Requested moves. BigNate37(T) 04:59, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This page is an obstruction in moving the page Lesser Kudu. As per WP:FNAME, 'Kudu' must not have a capital 'k'. But as this page already exists, it can not be renamed as 'Lesser kudu'. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 13:44, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Princess Pauline of Württemberg[edit]

Preparing to move disamb page Pauline of Württemberg to here Ruby 2010/2013 03:09, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Two things:
    1. Per MOS:DAB, if you move the DAB page to Princess Pauline of Württemberg, you should probably un-list Pauline Therese of Württemberg, as she was not a princess (insofar as the article is correct, anyways).
    2. Redirects that block pagemoves belong at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not Redirects for Discussion.
