Roberto Meléndez[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was speedy closed. Now that this page has been converted to an article it is outwith the scope of RFD. NAC. Bridgeplayer (talk) 23:16, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is the English Wikipedia, we shouldn't be pointing our readers to foreign language content. From Wikipedia:Soft redirect: Soft redirects to non-English language editions of Wikipedia should be avoided because they will generally be unhelpful to English-language readers. Done! - I went ahead and, using the es:Roberto Meléndez and Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez#Roberto Meléndez as guides and sources of good sources and references, threw together a start of an article. I've left the RfD tag on the article there because I though someone else might want to take a look at this but I think, as long as that work doesn't look crazy, we can close this RfD. Thanks for the great suggestion Bridgeplayer! —mako 21:16, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Convert to article - former national Colombian team manager. Bridgeplayer (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Convert to article - Somebody feeling bold should take a stab at this one. As per the discussion and example above, this definitely seems like the best option. —mako 21:18, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Convert to article - As per the discussion on the two examples above. These are highly notable people from Colombian football and they deserve articles in English Wikipedia. It should be easy for someone who understands even a little Spanish to get started on a stub. —mako 21:20, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Convert to article - notable as a Colombian club manager. Bridgeplayer (talk) 21:24, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. JohnCD (talk) 21:05, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the connection. Jasper Deng (talk) 04:31, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Possibly "booting" = "getting started"? Or possibly an ironic stab at the newbies' help desk (it "boots" newbies off the wiki). Whatever the case, not useful; no incoming links; practically no stats. — This, that, and the other (talk) 06:15, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - the background is that we used to have a page called Wikipedia:Boot Camp here that was merged and developed to produce the target. Bridgeplayer (talk) 21:21, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete - Given that it has a sensible explanation (thanks Bridgeplayer!) I don't see much harm. That said, the abbreviation didn't stick and didn't seem to get used. I suppose I have a weak preference to delete it so that it can be used for something else. It certainly seems possible that other page in the project namespace will want such a redirect in the future. —mako 21:26, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - I see the connection, but not the use. — Kudu ~I/O~ 23:08, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
