The result of the discussion was Retarget to Coherent backscattering. Ruslik_Zero 18:20, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is no long necessary, as it differs only in capitalization from the article located at Coherent backscattering, and the mediawiki software will now automatically redirect to the correct article. Sailsbystars (talk) 11:24, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and endorse retargetting to 'Coherent backscattering' carried out by nominator. Should be tagged 'Template:R from other capitalisation'. Redirects are cheap and deletion takes more server resource than keeping. We have numerous examples of this type of redirect which we keep when, as here, they are harmless. • Retarget to Coherent backscattering per Bridgeplayer.--Lenticel (talk) 06:00, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two Dollar Grey[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Two Dollar Grey converted to article (without prejudice to Afd), and the other redirects retargetted to point to the new article. If anyone has any issues with any specific redirect, they can nominate it/them at a new RfD. Thryduulf (talk) 01:42, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

deletion - redir was to a cover version of the Duran Duran by an nn band - presumed to be promotional. No apparent prior article content from the redir's history. Dl2000 (talk) 03:07, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, pardon me for mentioning a few more redirects from the User:Jax 0677 collection, all of which lead to the same section in that Duran Duran song. These should be included in this discussion:

Keep Two Dollar Grey has been reviewed by 40 oz robot and Just a Show starring Keith King. The artist meets criteria 1 and 12 at Criteria for musicians and ensembles. Criterion 1 is satisfied by the fact that the band is written about in multiple articles. Criterion 12 is satisfied by the fact that the band was discussed on a radio show which is streamed on the world wide web.--Jax 0677 (talk) 03:43, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Keep There are five independent references for Two Dollar Grey in the article now, which is five more independent references than Chica y Los Gatos, Wise Crack, Taedium Vitae, Fragile Hollow, Ronin Meyer or Unfinished Thought have, none of which have articles written about them. Two Dollar Grey is notable according to TWO separate criteria via their multiple articles and radio show. Is there any reason why Chica y Los Gatos, Wise Crack, Taedium Vitae, Fragile Hollow, Ronin Meyer or Unfinished Thought were not deleted from the article?
Also, what evidence is there that this is promotional?--Jax 0677 (talk) 04:49, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
!Voting multiple times in a discussion not only won't help you, it's inappropriate. Has there been a discussion regarding the band's notability? If not, this could have all been solved by creating an article for the band. This isn't a discussion regarding the notability of the band. It's a discussion to determine the validity of the redirects you have created. OlYeller21Talktome 19:00, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all redirects - Bottom line, if the band's notability hasn't been established, they shouldn't have any redirects or mention in the Come Undone (Duran Duran song) article. Assuming notability is established at some point, several of these redirects should be deleted as they're not notable songs (see WP:NSONG) and have nothing to do with the article they are being redirected to (a completely different song). The others are redirects of the band's which means they would redirect to the band's article. The band could be notable but that's a discussion for a different venue. Jax 0677 jumped the gun by creating these redirects before an article for the band.— Preceding unsigned comment added by OlYeller21 (talkcontribs) 19:00, 2 November 2011‎
Comment If this is the case, I will gladly start a stub article for the band when I have time.--Jax 0677 (talk) 02:00, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's probably the best plan of action here as it would basically solve all the complications we're facing here. I can tell you though, of the 5 references you provided, there are a few that probably can't be used to establish notability. We can talk about that at the article you end up creating, though. The Two Dollar Grey article is well under way! I apologize for voting multiple times, I too am becoming familiar with the rules of Wikipedia. I think the rules say that I should not go back and change a post that someone has already commented on, otherwise I would change the "Keep" to "Comment". Thanks everyone!--Jax 0677 (talk) 03:46, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. WP can be really complicated at first. As for changing comments, you can generally change your own comments within a small amount of time if it's not going to make someone else's comment following not make sense. Don't quote me but I think it's always OK to alter your own comments at any time if it doesn't change the meaning or interpreted meaning of the comment. For instance, I don't think anyone would object if you had changed "Keep" to "Comment". No big deal though. OlYeller21Talktome 17:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Concur that this discussion seems to be going in a good direction. In retrospect, there was clearly no intent to be promotional, although the numerous redirects involved may have that appearance. Perhaps some added guidance to Wikipedia:Redirect would be helpful for similar future cases, e.g. can a subject's notability be established with an article first before considering redirects?
