Shinjitai (disambiguation)[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy delete after clearing up mistunderstanding. Sasquatch t|c 19:12, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect seems to have been created based on a misunderstanding, and then speedy deletion was declined based on the same misunderstanding. The page being redirected to said near the top "(Shinjitai: 黒山)", and someone thought "Shinjitai" was a way of saying the characters 黒山. However, Shinjitai instead appears to be the writing system used. The target page has now been clarified to make it clear that Shinjitai is not a reading of the characters, but the writing system used for them. The redirect should be deleted, since it appears to be just a total mistake. Calathan (talk) 18:11, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete as R3 - recently created misnomer and tagged as such. Bridgeplayer (talk) 18:29, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to History of Manchester United F.C. (1878–1945). Thryduulf (talk) 10:28, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester United Football Club has never been known by this name. This page, which has now been turned into a redirect, was created by a mischievous editor with no basis for creating it. – PeeJay 17:10, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to History of Manchester United F.C. (1878–1945). Redirects do not have to be technically correct; that is the job of the target to set the record straight. A redirect is purely a search aid and for someone who has heard of the 'Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company' and 'Newton Heath' connection, but doesn't know that the exact former name was 'Newton Heath LYR Football Club' this could be useful for searching. If it is really, really wanted to delete this title then the alternative would be to undo the redirect and Prod/AfD the underlying article. Bridgeplayer (talk) 19:01, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ethics of file sharing[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was restore article. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:34, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since File sharing doesn't mention ethics, I am not sure that redirect of Ethics of file sharing to File sharing makes any sense. On the other hand, redirect is old, and has history, so I am not sure which of the reasons should take precedence in this case. Ipsign (talk) 16:01, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore article to this version. This was redirected with the intention of carrying out a merge that never seems to have been undertaken. This was a substantial article and we shouldn't delete redirects which have a useful history. Better to restore the article and if someone wishes to merge or AfD it that's also fine. Bridgeplayer (talk) 18:15, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore article without prejudice to merge or AfD per Bridgeplayer. Thryduulf (talk) 19:52, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Keep --Taelus (talk) 08:49, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect has no meaning! RohG ??· 12:09, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The redirect does have menaing the original page was called "Lulu Hutchinson" which is a mis-spelling of the charcters name which is 'Lulu Hutchison' there is no middle 'n'--InExcelsis DeoTalk 12:13, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The redirect should be kept--InExcelsis DeoTalk 12:18, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - plausible typo as shown here. If Holby.tv gets it wrong plenty of readers are also likely to search on the wrong spelling too. Harmless. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:27, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Speedy Deleted per CSD U2: Userpage or subpage of a nonexistent user. --Taelus (talk) 12:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No such user exists. A sandbox belonging to User:Blocparty22 was at this title, but I have userfied it for that user. The redirect is no longer needed. — This, that, and the other (talk) 07:51, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comedy Central (UK & Ireland)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep - nomination was withdrawn with no contrary views. NAC. Bridgeplayer (talk) 21:29, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Title of main article is now Comedy Central (UK and Ireland), So a redirect called Comedy Central (UK & Ireland) is just not needed. Ruth-2013 (talk) 07:38, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and consider history merge/repair. We only delete redirects that cause a problem see WP:RFD#DELETE. This is harmless. More importantly it looks like there may have been a cut'n'paste move - see here. This redirect has a substantial history and that needs resolving first before deletion can even be considered. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:36, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Quite the opposite. There was a cut and paste move but this re direct was the destination article. The original article with years more edit history is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedy_Central_(UK_and_Ireland) The issues where sorted out by reverts. A merge history was already declined. Either way the original article is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedy_Central_(UK_and_Ireland) (Ruth-2013 (talk) 15:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Decided to close this as thinking about it this search term is possible, so maybe this re direct is still needed (Ruth-2013 (talk) 21:03, 5 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Can someone close this for me as I seam to be having trouble doing so myself(Ruth-2013 (talk) 21:05, 5 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]
