I'd like to nominate this redirect for deletion following a discussion of pertinent materials. The article itself makes no mention of Borisov, nor can I find any record of him stating that the Holodomor didn't occur. If anyone can find statements, I'd like them post here so I can expand the article accordingly. Anatoly-Rex (talk) 20:50, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • According to the versions of the article that existed back in late 2008 when the redirect was created, it refers to an article in Russia Today by Russian historian Boris Borisov arguing that "the condemnation of the Holodomor by the U.S. House of Representatives [was unjustified because] the same methods used by many researchers of Holodomor if applied to the Great Depression would lead to the conclusion of 'seven to eight millions of American victims of the man-made catastrophe' at the same post-1929 era, while the policies of presidents Hoover and Roosevelt show remarkable similarities with the policies of Stalin and the New Deal [and the] Public Works Administration with the Communist Gulag." The reference cited is unfortunately no longer available. There was some debate over whether Borisov was a legitimate historian or whether the article was a parody but the name did have some currency at the time and the article was certainly part of the debate over the accusations of denial. The section was inexplicably removed sometime in 2009.
All that leads me to a weak keep because the redirect is not obviously harmful and provides some usefulness if and when the section on the Russia Today column is restored. Rossami (talk) 00:05, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I'll make the appropriate changes to Denial of the Holodomor page and work the article you found into the Holodomor genocide question page. Anatoly-Rex (talk) 18:09, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as a blatant violation of WP:BLP — negative redirects on the names of living people are a no-go. I've marked this as a G10 speedy delete since there is no good version in the history to revert to. *** Crotalus *** 17:59, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment I've declined the speedy deletion of this redirect. Rossami's good faith recommendation above that this not be deleted means that deleting it is not guaranteed to be uncontroversial, so speedy deletion is not appropriate. I have no opinion on whether this should be kept, deleted or retargetted. Thryduulf (talk) 18:22, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • On what grounds is this a BLP violation? He does not yet appear to qualify for his own article but he has a documented connection to this one as a published historian making a claim relevant to the historical investigation. The claims are neutral to him, casting neither positive nor negative light on his person. I don't see any connection at all between this redirect and WP:BLP. The above is preserved as the archive of an RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.
