Ambigious redirect like this, per the other "too short" noms. "Too-short" could refer to {{Expand}}, {{Stub}}, {{Expand section}} or {{Lead too short}} depending on where it's used, thus we're better to delete this unused redirect rather than creating confusion by its existence. Suggesting deletion of all these redirects associated with Titin. The first three are truncated versions of the very long verbal formula (not really a word), and are not even specific to this protein (some other proteins will have the same form of name due to the truncation). So per deletion reason 7: "If the redirect is a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name, it is unlikely to be useful" I suggest deletion. The same argument applies to the chemical formula, and the only reason for keeping the "full chemical name" one is if you want to have the full name in the page history there. Some of the pages have discussions, which should be copied over into the archives of Talk:Titin where this issue has been discussed in depth. The latest discussion is here. All of the redirects except the chemical formula one have page history as well, and while I would usually suggest retaining such page history, the redirects themselves are not needed. Finally, the valid redirects connectin and Q8WZ42 exist, as can be seen here, and the TTN symbol is listed at TTN. I have different opinions for different redirects:
Delete all: None of the redirects are specific to titin. There are an infinite number of proteins whose amino acid sequence starts with "Met-Thr-Thr-Glu-Arg" and ends with "Ile". There are also close to an infinite number of proteins with the molecular formula C132,983H211,861N36,149O40,883S69 (just scramble the titin sequence). In addition, the truncated chemical names that are used for these redirects are arbitrarily chosen. Why stop with redirects names formed from the first three or five amino acids and the last amino acid? Why not redirects formed from the first three and last three amino acids. There are close to an infinite number of redirects that could be formed. These redirects are neither practical nor useful. It is extremely unlikely that someone would be searching exactly for "Methionylthreonylthreonyl...isoleucine". Boghog (talk) 11:45, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The "formula" redirect would be worth keeping if not for the argument Boghog2 has given; the full name of the chemical is on the Sarah McCulloch site, and if an internal link is desired, we might be able to use wikisource, but it isn't really necessary to have it on Wikipedia.     • Do you think the mis-spelt one should be deleted? And would you agree to protecting the other redirects to avoid the periodic edit wars that spring up on them? And then salting the other redirects that will be created in the future (there are quite a lot of variations in truncated names that could be created in good-faith here, all completely useless).       • The fact of a misspelling is absolutely no grounds for deletion. We have many misspelt redirects. The purpose of a redirect is simply to enable readers to find to find information they seek. If the misspelling is common then they should be kept if the stats show they are used as a search term. If any of the redirects that have a history, together with old content that has been merged, then deleting would breach our GFDL obligations. Consequently, before any redirect with a history is deleted, the deleting admin would need to check through the histories to make sure that there was no merged content.
