Equadorian Woolly Opussum[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was delete. SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:23, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
A misspelling of a name ("Equatorian woolly opossum" would surely be the accurate version) that does not exist at all at Google: there is precisely one hit at Google for this title: a book that claims to be a list of mammal names in different languages. I would contend that if such a list is the only occurence of the name findable by Google, the book is in error.
Entirely unnecessary redirect Kevin McE (talk) 21:08, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Delete. Presumably "Ecuadorian," not "Equatorian," was meant, but either way this obscure redirect with two unlikely misspellings ("Opussum"?) is unuseful clutter. "Ecuadorian Woolly Opossum" gets one appreciable GHit (see here), so if anyone wants to create a redirect for it please click here. Glenfarclas (talk) 21:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Keep - no policy based argument has been used for deletion which doesn't meet WP:RFD#DELETE. This is a long-standing typo, over four years, and harmless. It still appears in the occasional external page, for example here, so it is a plausible search term as also shown by the trickle of hits. Bridgeplayer (talk) 16:32, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- Glenfarclas should be aware that both oppossum and opposum redirect to opossum: I'm not sure in what way he considers that part of it too be a mis-spelling. More relevantly, if Elsevier's book is meant to be a list of the names of mammals, and he is the only person mentioned on the internet as giving that name (or any predictable spelling variant of it) to this species, then the reliability of his book must be in question: thus we are left with one unreliable mis-spelt source for this name, and no evidence that anyone else, at all, in the whole English speaking world, gives that name, whether spelled correctly or not. No variant of the word "Ecuador" appears on the page linked by Bridgeplayer; if a specific reference to WP:RFD#DELETE is necessary, then surely this is the epitome of #8: "a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name". Kevin McE (talk) 14:39, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- The misspelling is the first U in "Opussum." Glenfarclas (talk) 01:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Oops: sorry! Kevin McE (talk) 06:14, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also, WP:HARMLESS is not a valid rationale for keeping this redirect. SnottyWong gab 19:41, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

- Delete What use could this redirect possibly have? What are the chances that someone who is searching for Brown-eared Woolly Opossum is accidentally going to misspell the term the way this redirect is misspelled. This redirect is an implausible typo of an implausible search term. Delete it. SnottyWong soliloquize 21:39, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Unnecessary cross-namespace redirects with no incoming links and unremarkable histories; just artifacts of items created in the wrong namespace and moved to Template space. Glenfarclas (talk) 20:23, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Unlikely misspelling —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 17:10, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Keep - doesn't meet any of the deletion criteria. This is an established title. It is harmless and I see no particular reason to delete. Bridgeplayer (talk) 17:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- WP:HARMLESS is not a valid reason to keep this redirect. SnottyWong spout 19:41, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
*Speedy delete R3 -- tagged as such. Just an artifact of a pagemove from a typo. Glenfarclas (talk)
- Delete. Struck out my previous !vote because if I had looked a bit harder I would have seen that it existed since last August. Anyway, the misspelling is not particularly plausible, and the redirect is unnecessary and clutters the search box. I don't think deletion will break very many incoming links, either. Glenfarclas (talk) 22:09, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

List of Allies (2003 Series)[edit]

- The result of the discussion was Move to subpage of Talk:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 TV series) without redirect. While the redirect is fairly useless, this would have been a delete if not for the page history that needs to be preserved. This seems a sound way to preserve the history while dispensing with the redirect. Placed at Talk:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 TV series)/List of Allies (2003 Series). SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:35, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- List of Allies (2003 Series) → List of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters (links to redirect • history • stats)
This redirect is too confusing to keep on Wikipedia. No user will type this into the search bar looking for a list of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters, but some might type "List of allies" into the search bar and see this on the dropdown menu. As such, this redirect should be deleted. Neelix (talk) 14:10, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Delete Anybody could be searching for a list of allies other then the ones in TMNT. --Andromedabluesphere440 (talk) 14:13, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Move to a subpage of Talk:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 TV series) and delete the resulting redirect. Both pages have a history with GFDL implications. I agree that these redirects are potentially misleading. Bridgeplayer (talk) 15:19, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

These are better served as redlinks, instead of redirecting to the state article that makes no mention of them at all. 76.66.195.196 (talk) 06:15, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Retarget University of Aurora to Aurora University. Delete rest – universities with those names don't seem to exist. Svick (talk) 14:43, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Retarget University of Aurora to Aurora University and University of Rockford to Rockford College. Delete the others who don't even feature in List of colleges and universities in Illinois. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:58, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Retarget University of Aurora to Aurora University and delete the rest. I don't know of any evidence that Rockford College is mistakenly known as the University of Rockford, or that someone entering the latter would be anything but confused by winding up at the former, but I don't have any strong feelings on that one. Glenfarclas (talk) 20:06, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Comment - see here. Bridgeplayer (talk) 23:58, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think there's much danger of "The Citizens' University of Rockford College" being somehow mistaken for Rockford College (see here, e.g.), but as I said I don't have strong feelings on that one. Glenfarclas (talk) 01:53, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Has nothing to do with "magnet school"; science school is frequently used to signify the hard sciences division of a university, or a university that has science, as opposed to an arts school, a university with arts programs. 76.66.195.196 (talk) 06:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Retarget to Science education. I am open to the argument that 'science education' is a broader topic than 'science school' but it seems sufficiently relevant. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:28, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Disambiguate, which I've gone ahead and done. I think the concept of a "science school" as a particular magnet program dedicated to science is sufficiently different from the broad educational field of "science education" to warrant DAB. Glenfarclas (talk) 20:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Has nothing to do with magnet school. What has that Italian weekend school, or French language prep school, or Japanese immersion school got to do with this "magnet school" concept? OR Berlitz Academies? 76.66.195.196 (talk) 06:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Retarget to Language school, which is directly relevant to the search term. Bridgeplayer (talk) 14:30, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
