One Take Watson[edit]

Implausible search term, (possible BLP concerns (weak), may be to promote websites by this name???) Scott Mac 23:39, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: this is actually supported by a couple of German news sources here and here (via Google Translate). I didn't turn up anything reliable-looking in English, though, strangely enough.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 06:47, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • still, no one is going to search for this who doesn't know the actress it relates to. Totally implausible.--Scott Mac 13:23, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • It is however, amply prophylactic, preventing as it does the creation of nothing-to-say articles purportedly about some WWW site or discussion forum that would be at best an external link in the biography. ("One Take Watson is a fan discussion group devoted to Emma Watson. Here's an external hyperlink. The rest of this article is now going to discuss Emma Watson in the guise of discussing a discussion forum devoted to her.") This isn't here to promote the WWW sites, by the way. A modicum of searching will turn up the quotation, purportedly said by Watson herself (but only collected in folk quotation dictionaries and circulated by word of mouth without proper attribution), that this comes from. Uncle G (talk) 15:01, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete No encyclopedic purpose whatsoever. --JN466 17:48, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible search term, weakly possible BLP concerns Scott Mac 23:36, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's a very plausible search term:[1]. Keep. Fences&Windows 03:01, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per nom. I guess someone could write an article on the term, but as a redirect to Tom Cuise it does not fulfil any encyclopedic purpose. --JN466 17:47, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Note that Jumping the couch leads to the same target, i.e. the specific section of the Cruise BLP discussing the term and its origin. I have thought this over -- people looking for a description of the incident, or further info on the phrase it spawned, might just be served by this redirect. If anyone does write an article on the term "jumping the couch" (there seem to be enough sources on it to make it pass GNG), then couch jumping should redirect to jumping the couch. As it is, that BLP section seems to be the only place it is covered. --JN466 19:37, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Default is to capitalized surname, hence this is unnecessary clutter and serves no purpose whatsoever. Delete. Artiquities (talk) 18:28, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - it's something that people are likely to type into the address bar when doing a search. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:25, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. None of the reasons to delete apply. Redirects are cheap. Mhiji (talk) 21:46, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. A very likely search term. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:34, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. Wikipedia automatically corrects capitalization on search, for example, if you search for Anne boleyn it automatically opens Anne Boleyn even though there is no redirect: Anne boleyn. All redirects of this sort should be deleted after verifying that they are not explicitly referenced. It is confusing to the user to see a "redirected" message at the top of some, but not all, articles searched for without correct capitalization, so get rid of them all! — Anomalocaris (talk) 05:01, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Unused, unnecessary cross-namespace redirects. Were created as the result of moves but not deleted afterwards. Mhiji (talk) 04:02, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all; appropriate cleanup of pagemove artifacts resulting in unnecessary cross-namespace redirects.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 06:48, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unused, unnecessary cross-namespace redirect Mhiji (talk) 03:48, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep; (or should that be a colon?) highly likely typo, and the spot isn't needed for anything else. Redirects are cheap. (BTW note that WP;ANI also exists.) Antandrus (talk) 03:53, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Common typo for one of Wikipedia's most frequently visited destinations. There's no real possibility of confusion or harm to the project arising out of the redirect's continued existence and no other page that it's a plausible redirect to. - DustFormsWords (talk) 03:55, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. "MOS:" pseudo-namespace redirect which does not link to a Manual of Style page. Mhiji (talk) 03:46, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - MOS redirects should lead to MOS pages; it's confusing and potentially deceptive when they don't. - DustFormsWords (talk) 03:56, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Anything starting with "MOS:" should be related to the MOS; this isn't. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:36, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary cross namespace redirect. Might as well just use WT:SIGN Mhiji (talk) 03:44, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete—unneeded cross-namespace redirect. WT:SIGN leads to the same place. Grondemar 16:48, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Unused, unnecessary cross-namespace redirects. Implausible search terms. Were created as the result of moves but not deleted afterwards. User that created them is now inactive. Mhiji (talk) 03:16, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Incumbent series[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 15:10, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary, cross-namespace redirect. Links to a page which is only "retained primarily for historical interest" anyway. No links (apart from lists of CNRs). Mhiji (talk) 02:30, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete—unneeded cross-namespace redirect. The age (2004) is slightly concerning, but there does not appear to have been a page move done from one title to another, and therefore not much risk of there being many old page revisions that link to the article-space redirect.
