September 17[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on September 17, 2009

Wide World of Sports (redirect)[edit]

Delete another self-referencing redirect with a name that is most highly improbable to be used as a search element. With the same rationale, I also nominate

ALI redirect[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy. Rich Farmbrough, 15:08, 18 September 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Delete this self-referencing redirect. The likelihood of a person using "ALI redirect" as a search item is very low indeed. For the same reason, I add

Hinduism - The Naked Truth[edit]

Delete as unnecessary and offensive Redtigerxyz Talk 13:38, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Trying to track down the history involving both the redirect and others associated with it, I've seen some contortion along the way. A look at the history of the nominated redirect reveals a move to HINDUISM, currently a redirect to the current target Hinduism... but this was done four minutes after a move of Hinduism - The Naked Truth to Hinduism - The religion - one article, but two destinations of moves!([1]). In the last case, the move occurred only after the target was converted into a redirect - edit comments indicate that the redirect that was overwritten in the move was formed (in 2006) to preserve the history of the article that was (perhaps) merged into Hinduism. The history of the nominated redirect seems to have been merged (to show two moves), but nothing here in terms of content (no content either in the HINDUISM redirect). While the title of the nominated book might make an interesting one for a book or a newspaper article, it is an unlikely search item here, too; thus delete Hinduism - The Naked Truth as the content history can be found at Hinduism - The religion, which should be histmerged with HINDUISM and then deleted as another unlikely search item. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 18:52, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great research! Delete seems right to me as well as per your observations above. —mako 02:12, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per IP and no hits on Google. —Zach425 talk/contribs 02:47, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I fail to see this is offensive - and redirects aren't constrained by NPOV. There are hits on Google which may imply it is needed for GFDL (if these are out-dated mirrors) if nothing else. Rich Farmbrough, 15:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC).[reply]
Specifically this page links here. Rich Farmbrough, 15:07, 18 September 2009 (UTC).[reply]
  • Delete as useless, what's the point of this redirect anyways? If a book by that title exists, then article-ize it, otherwise, it doesn't seem useful. 76.66.196.139 (talk) 05:08, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. First I feel I need to address an issue that was brought up in this discussion. Whether the term is NPOV or offensive is irrelevant to whether or not a particular redirect should (or should not) be deleted. We have articles that cover clearly offensive (to some) terms as midget and fuck, articles that have withstood the AfD/discussion processes, I must add. So, is the title of this redirect inflammatory (a valid grounds for deletion)? No, but the title can be considered confusing as it has the appearance of a movie (or book) title; its format makes "Hinduism - The Naked Truth" a highly unlikely search term as presented here, thus it should be deleted under WP:RFD#DELETE. Per the IP's suggestion, Hinduism - The religion should also be deleted after a histmerge to HINDUISM. B.Wind (talk) 16:22, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
