November 24[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on November 24, 2009

Takhar, Afghanistan[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete all; if anyone wants to create articles about these places, or list them at WP:Requested articles/Afghanistan, feel free to do so. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:15, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to see these unhelpful and deceptive redirections erased. They don't aid navigation. All the instances where these redirections are used already have an explicit link to Afghanistan. Further, the existence of the redirection strips the information someone maintaining the articles where this links is used of the clue that an article is missing. History, in July a very dedicated contributor created hundreds of unhelpful and deceptive redirections, just like these ones [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. When I questioned this determined contributor, and asked him to pause and discuss this initiative, they basically blew me off. It seemed to me they weren't making enough of an effort to address other contributor's concerns with their initiatives. I felt I was forced to make the first of several nominations of this type. When I thought the almost total lack of support for the redirections to Yemen might convince the determined contributor to agree to put {db-author} on the remaining hundred plus similar redirections. That would have been a lot less work for everyone. They declined to do so. I didn't nominate these remaining redirections for deletion back then, hoping that they would see the handwriting on the wall, and save everyone's time with judicious use of {db-author}. It has been a couple of months, and I have given up waiting. Geo Swan (talk) 23:49, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It would be far better to stubify each of these with (at least) short articles, but unless someone is willing to do this, the best action is to delete all and list at WP:Requested articles/Afghanistan so there would (eventually) be some hope of presenting encyclopedic information on these communities. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 00:10, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Redlinks encourage new articles, redirects like these seem to engender confusion - Peripitus (Talk) 10:49, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Royal house (temp)[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy delete as g6—uncontroversial clean up. Ruslik_Zero 12:10, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another one of Wikipedia's "temporary" redirects, many of which were created by moving of temporary pages that have long since been merged or deleted. The name of the redirect is definitely not a viable search item. Per the dozens of other "temporary" redirects that we've deleted in 2009 (and earlier), this should also be deleted as housekeeping. Citing the same justification, I also offer the following for consideration as well:

147.70.242.54 (talk) 21:04, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • As long as these are orphaned, and there is no relevant history on these pages, they can be speedily deleted under criterion G8. Same goes for the nomination below. — This, that, and the other (talk) 06:29, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as they've clearly served their purpose. Josh Parris 10:18, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Miklós Zrínyi temp[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete both. Ruslik_Zero 12:25, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete temporary redirect to a temporary page. Probability of anybody using this as a search item is virtually nil. For the same reason I also nominate

Pope Gutless Bastard the First[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Speedy Delete G3: Vandalism --Taelus (talk) 00:09, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to have no reason for being except as an insult, and should be deleted for offensiveness. A. Parrot (talk) 20:19, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Celeris/redirects[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:26, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Another "temporary" redirect that advertises that it's a redirect. A few months ago, we deleted dozens of such; this one was created in October 2009. I also nominate, with the same justification:
