Korean Air Flight 801 passengers → Korean Air Flight 801[edit]
Delete as non-notable passengers "known" exclusively for flying on Korean Air Flight 801. I did, however, keep Rika Matsuda around as there is a section detailing her story. The rest are implausible search terms and anyone searching for one of these people are either searching for someone else, or finding a dead end as they aren't mentioned in the main article. - Keep the ones for names that are mentioned in the article, delete all others. If the name is mentioned in the article, it's a good target for the redirect. The redirects can be tagged with {{R to list entry}}. That template is precisely for this type of redirect. -- User:Docu

- Delete – not a plausible search term, no incoming links, no Google hits for the phrase. I think that anyone searching for information about the city center of Cannon Beach, Oregon would just look for the article about the city itself. –Black Falcon (Talk) 04:38, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Keep - there were incoming links until you removed them. Here's a sign that refers to Cannon Beach City Center (the city name is not on the sign, but is added in the table for maximum clarity). --NE2 08:46, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Every city has one or more signs indicating "City Center", but that hardly makes "[City name] city center, [State name]" a likely search term... And while there are a few online uses of "Cannon Beach city center" (all results are lowercase, by the way), it is not at all surprising that the same is true for the combination of virtually any city name with the phrases/words "city center", "suburbs", or "outskirts". None of it changes the likelihood that someone will search for "[City name] city center, [State name]" instead of "[City name], [State name]" or just "[City name]" (Cannon Beach redirects to Cannon Beach, Oregon). –Black Falcon (Talk) 17:05, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

- "[T]hat hardly makes '[City name] city center, [State name]' a likely search term"... I guess it was lost in the mess of quotation marks and square brackets, but being an unlikely search term directly affects the need for a redirect. If you disagree that it's unlikely to be searched, then of course that's something else. –Black Falcon (Talk) 19:35, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Simply being an unlikely search term does not mean that a redirect should be deleted. The important thing here is that there are valid incoming links. --NE2 19:42, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- There weren't any until you reverted. While I agree that we should generally not edit articles for the sole purpose of "fixing" redirects, I can't see any reason to revert such a change once it is made, especially when it is in question whether "Cannon Beach City Center" (all caps) is a recognized name. Besides, it's simple enough to once again remove the incoming links during the course of a more general edit to improve the article. –Black Falcon (Talk) 19:58, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- You need to read WP:R2D, especially "redirects can indicate possible future articles". (More likely in this case is a possible future section of the Cannon Beach article that the redirect can be retargeted to.) --NE2 20:01, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have read it and I still think either Cannon Beach, Oregon city center or Cannon Beach city center (lowercase for both) would be more fitting redirects than this one, but fair enough... In the end, it's just a redirect and neither keeping nor deleting it will be too much of a big deal. Cheers, –Black Falcon (Talk) 20:14, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- I can't believe this is being discussed... If these links were made to point to the correct page to begin with, we wouldn't need a redirect page for them. Or for that matter, every other "city center" sign on this planet. Is there a Honolulu City Center, Hawaii redirect page? I sure hope not. Because there are about a thousand signs that could justify the creating of that page too. Sounds like a lot of wasted time and (although minimal), server space, processing, etc. The only reason I found this "article" is that my search box autofills wiki terms when I'm typing, and when I typed Cannon Beac... I found that two results were coming up; Cannon Beach, Oregon and Cannon Beach City Center, Oregon. That's reason enough for deletion. --Travis Thurston+ 23:05, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
