July 27[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 27, 2009

TV-AO[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete - misleading, nonexistent rating. ~ mazca talk 21:55, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect which was originally added as part of a hoax TV rating a few years back; the speedy delete declination might have been a little hasty here as no one would usually search for something like this. GraYoshi2x►talk 22:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The target article contains several items labeled "AO", so it was not blatantly obvious that the redirect would not be helpful. I am not knowledgeable enough about the subject in all of the countries covered by the article to make a judgment about whether anyone would or would not be expected to search using this term. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 22:38, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Anything labeled with "TV-" as a prefix should refer to the US TV Parental Guidelines. New Zealand or any other country doesn't count. GraYoshi2x►talk 18:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as potentially confusing. Only the US uses a "TV" prefix in its ratings; no country using "A" or "AO" uses "TV" with it. Anybody searching for "TV-AO" for television ratings would find the AO in the search list. 147.70.242.43 (talk) 21:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ponca City, OK μSA[edit]

The result of the discussion was withdrawn. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 19:49, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "μ" in the redirect's name seems like an implausible typo. I suggest that this redirect be deleted. I would have speedied it, but it wasn't recently created. If this redirect does stay, it should at least go to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Rockfang (talk) 22:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, implausible typo. TJRC (talk) 22:08, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm removing my !vote in light of User:Kusma's comment below. Not being wise in the way of census abbreviations, I now express no opinion on the matter. TJRC (talk) 05:36, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, has incoming links that explains what it is good for. The link target seems to be correct per [1]. Kusma (talk) 02:02, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Withdraw - I should have done better research. I didn't realise that "μSA" wasn't a typo of the abbreviation of the United States of America.--Rockfang (talk) 19:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Whats the name of the last harry potter book[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy Delete, G7. Lenticel (talk) 02:20, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unplausible redirect. –xenotalk 20:14, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, I deleted it (per U1 G7). I made that when I was still new around here and didn't know anything. :)   JJ (talk) 21:02, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Beetle Invasion[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes, reasonable and non-contentious change that probably didn't need an RfD discussion. ~ mazca talk 12:01, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

These redirs were originally created as articles about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes listed above. I think that they should be redirected to List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes. David Pro (talk) 18:14, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Change redirect target per nom. Seems sensible enough to redirect the names of episodes to an episode list. --Taelus (talk) 21:56, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, but the redirects could have been changed without an RfD. Alansohn (talk) 19:55, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Mackay[edit]

The result of the discussion was Alex Mackay re-targeted to Alexander MacKay. Alex Mackay (1632 character) kept. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:09, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(I've combined these two noms; Jack Merridew 04:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Redirect to a list of fictional characters; this character is not covered in the list. Cheers, Jack Merridew 14:48, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, I found mention of the character by searching the text of the article. Whilst there is not much detail, it is a harmless redirect. --Taelus (talk) 21:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Ya, I know there's a minor inline mention; for what it's worth; there are better than 50 templates related to this franchise at TfD and a bunch of the articles are at AfD with more to come. This is a huge walled garden that is now collapsing. The redirects will sort one way or another. Also, there's some chef that is mentioned in the history of these (see diff and http://www.alexmackay.com/) and "Alex Mackay" is a rather generic name. A trivial character in a marginal work has no claim on the title here. Cheers, Jack Merridew 04:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, per nom, clearly an incredibly ancillary character, unlikely to be the primary usage either. Axem Titanium (talk) 16:00, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep to point readers to relevant article. Alansohn (talk) 20:10, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Readers are more likely to be completely confused by this redirect since it plopped them down into a massive character list that doesn't even have a section for him! Axem Titanium (talk) 14:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, seems to be an extremely minor character. Additionally, a quick Google search reveals a minor celebrity chef called Alex Mackay [2] who may not quite reach the Wikipedia notability threshold (I've not really looked) but certainly seems more famous than this character. I rather think that someone searching Wikipedia for Alex Mackay probably is not looking for the 1632 character and is likely to be immensely confused by the redirect. ~ mazca talk 11:57, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm neutral as far keeping Alex Mackay (1632 character), it seems unlikely as a redirect but fairly harmless. ~ mazca talk 21:56, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmmm... there is one occurrence each of "Alex Mackay" and "Alexander Mackay" in the target article, each in a different section, thus indicating the potential of both being useful search terms. Clearly the second redirect is a very specific search term that presumes the reader already knows the source of the name, thus WP:RFD#KEEP would apply; the first is a bit more problematic as someone who does not know the source of the name might be confused per Mazca and Axem Titanium. So I'd recommend a compromise: delete the first but keep the second. Thus anybody searching "Alex Mackay" would get the search list and see if the character of the same name is the appropriate one. B.Wind (talk) 05:12, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget the first to Alexander MacKay disambiguation page as "Alex" is the informal form of "Alexander". The dab page also lists the link to the first redirect while identifying the character as above; so if the second one is kept (I have no recommendation on that), the link on the dab page needs to be changed per WP:MOSDAB.147.70.242.43 (talk) 21:44, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:32TOC-end[edit]

The result of the discussion was deleted already by Nihiltres (talk · contribs) under CSD G8 ~ mazca talk 21:53, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete along with {{32TOC-beg}}; nb: this is just a redirect to {{end}} (which we keep;). Cheers, Jack Merridew 06:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - its partner is gone; this one should be, too. B.Wind (talk) 05:14, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mathijs[edit]

The result of the discussion was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:08, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Is not mentioned in the redirected article Bennylin (talk) 04:10, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Not mentioned anywhere in the article, thus a misleading redirect. Also, although I don't want to jump to conclusions, the redirect could have been created as a hoax, or as a joke page, as the name may be a username somewhere. --Taelus (talk) 21:52, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It was apparently created because the target article, as it existed when the redirect was created, included a redlink to Mathijs Quar. That link was apparently later deleted. No point in the redirect now. TJRC (talk) 22:18, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, misleading and useless. Mathijs is a reasonably common Dutch first name, and the two Mathijses I know do not appear to be pirates. Perhaps they're very good at hiding it, though, you never know with pirates. ~ mazca talk 11:46, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
