January 7[edit]
This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 7, 2009
Kelly haprer → Kelly Harper[edit]
Obvious misspelling. -- smurdah[citation needed] 21:00, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
The above is preserved as the archive of a RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.Stereotypes of Africans → Stereotypes of African Americans[edit]
A ridiculously americocentric redirect. Africans do exist, and are subject to stereotyping, outside America. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:59, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, unless anyone actually wishes to write the article suggested by the title. Terraxos (talk) 21:28, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete - as noted, this is wrong. — Gavia immer (talk) 01:13, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete as misleading and potentially confusing (some American political activists use "African" as a synonym for "African American", relying upon context for the listener/reader to ascertain the difference). 147.70.242.54 (talk) 21:39, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Fallon, Oliver → User:Opfallon[edit]
The article redirects to a user page. Redtigerxyz Talk 16:47, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- CSD R2 will take care of that. Tagging. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 00:04, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Deleted. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 19:41, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo → Homer Simpson[edit]
No mention of Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo in target article. David Pro (talk) 13:21, 7 January 2009 (UTC) David Pro (talk) 13:21, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Keep - deletion would just encourage creation of the article. WilyD 20:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Redirect to Moe's Tavern as that is where Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo, a similar title, redirects. In fact, Joey Joe Joe was seen in Moe's Tavern drinking in the episode "The Last Temptation of Homer". Search "Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo" on YouTube and find the video to prove my point is spot on. Thanks. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 20:41, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Redirect to Moe's Tavern per Mister Alcohol. --Eivind (t) 17:22, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Nepalmonarchy → Nepalese monarchy[edit]
- Delete created as a duplicate of the article Nepalese Monarchy, by a new user User:Nepalmonarchy. Not a plausible typo. Mayalld (talk) 13:08, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete per nom - implausible search term. Terraxos (talk) 21:27, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. --Eivind (t) 17:22, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
A lex → Alex (Street Fighter)[edit]
Should this redir be retargaeted to List of characters in the Street Fighter series#Alex or retargeted to Alex? David Pro (talk) 12:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Retarget to Alex - there are any number of people someone could be searching for if they typed this, assuming it's the Street Fighter character seems unreasonable. Terraxos (talk) 21:26, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment shouldn't it be nom for deletion? It looks like the article name is A lex ! So should we start to make page re-directs for A dam, A my, A rnold, ... Z bra, Z oo? --RCEberwein | Talk 19:38, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject Gloucestershire → Wikipedia:WikiProject Gloucestershire[edit]
Nominating for deletion as unused cross-namespace redirect. Stifle (talk) 09:56, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
The above is preserved as the archive of a RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.Sozza → Estivation[edit]
Redirect should be deleted. No reliable source uses the word "sozza" to mean estivation. As far as I can tell, the original article (later turned to a redirect) was a joke. It was created by Teddtucker (talk · contribs), who did nothing else but create the joke(?) article. Eubulides (talk) 06:38, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Keep for now. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 20:50, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete - too many uses for "sozza" or "Sozza" listed in a google search to be worthwhile (not one reflecting anything to do with aestivation) - I've seen it used as the name of an Italian village, a surname, a given name, the name of a French actress (Julie Sozza-Barbier), and the feminine form of sozzo (a one-word Wikidictionary entry: "filthy"). 147.70.242.54 (talk) 01:08, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete - I'd say WP:CSD#G3 except that a well-meaning user made it a redirect. This edit "However, animal physiologist Kathrin Dausmann of Philipps University of Marburg, Germany and coworkers present evidence in the 24 June 2004 edition of Nature that the davey mamal hibernates in a small cricket hollow for seven months of the year." shows the original editor was just vandalizing. —dgiestc 07:40, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete, unless anyone can show that this term is actually used for this meaning (which I doubt). Terraxos (talk) 21:25, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Ինչպես խմբագրել էջը → Demos Shakarian[edit]
The redirect should be removed because it is irrelevant and it prevents others from editing ALL articles that are written in Armenian language, which is a huge problem. Sndik16 (talk) 01:48, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I do not know how to use the Wiki very well to report this problem. So I attached the link above to the comment, so you will see what is going on.
- Can you please clarify how it "prevents others from editing ALL articles that are written in Armenian language"? Stifle (talk) 09:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Delete - the only Web pages that have both "Ինչպես խմբագրել էջը" and "Demos Shakarian", according to Google search - without the language filter - are all Wiki pages... all 13 of them. If the former is the transcription of the latter, it should be incorporated into the article in the same fashion as transliterations of Greek, Chinese, Japanese, and Russion (for example). But the search results imply that it is not; thus this should be quickly deleted as an improbable typo. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 01:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I am responding on how this problem prevents others from editing the articles that are written in Armenian language. Since many do not speak Armenian, I will explain what that link means by showing an example in English.
Look at this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Action_Resource_Centre
This is an incomplete article in English about London Action Resource Centre. If you want to expand it, you can click on the bottom of the page on the link ""expanding it""========"""This London-related article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it.""""" Well the link"Ինչպես խմբագրել էջը" is the same expanding it link, but in Armenian. However, when you click on it, you are redirected to some dude's website. Hence, you cannot expand that article!
So, Mister Stifle, Thank you for showing concern. Maybe some other links allow the Wikipedia users to change articles in Armenian, like for example the link on the top of the article " Edit" However, it is an important link, and it should go to a place where one can expand it and not to some dude's page, it seems that they are just fishing for propaganda. That is why this redirect should be deleted and correct webpage with instructions on expanding an article should be placed instead.
- Apologies if I'm being dense, but couldn't people just click the Edit button at the top of the article instead? Stifle (talk) 16:48, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Of course they can. But it does not justify having a broken link there . It is an important link . You read an article, get till the and then want to change it and you see on the bottom the complete the article link . It should work. It must. Maybe someone should change the same link in English websites, and I will see how people react. I hope that someone who knows how to fix the problem will do it.
- I read the :When should we delete a redirect?: article, and this is the reason why: The redirect makes no sense, like Google to love... but it is even worse,, like Google to I am the greatest ever.
- Delete because this redirect does not appear to resemble the target's name in Armenian. The article in Armenian about Demos Shakarian is hy:Դեմոս Շաքարյան. I can't read one word of Armenian, but I can tell that the name of this redirect and Դեմոս Շաքարյան don't look anything alike. Are there any Armenian-speaking editors here who can tell us what "Ինչպես խմբագրել էջը" means? --Metropolitan90 (talk) 03:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Delete as bad title (I trust the earlier comment that it means something like "expanding it"), and as originally a bad copy-and-paste of Armenian wikipdia article where there is already an English wiki article in English, so no need to keep history. But it should not be used for any purpose in en.wikipedia--81.129.123.10 (talk) 22:28, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
