Black cultureAfrican American culture[edit]

The result of the discussion was Disambiguate. I went ahead and put together a disambiguation, although it isn't "complete". If anyone has some time, they can go ahead and add to it. Tavix (talk) 00:16, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect should be removed because "African American" is NOT a synonym of "black". Treating it this way demonstrates US-centralism that should not be here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.162.221.231 (talkcontribs) 18:24 February 6, 2009

There may be other articles or sections of articles that would apply here. •••Life of Riley (talk) 02:14, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate. This is a likely search term, it needs to have content, and the current content is not acceptable because it lacks a global perspective. I support Life of Riley's proposed disambiguation contents above, at least as a start. Gavia immer (talk) 03:51, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate. Life of Riley has a good point. Even if most of the searchers may have been looking for African American culture, there are other "black cultures" as well that people might search for. No harm in disambiguating. Adds global perspective. Graymornings(talk) 04:42, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate it doesn't matter if 419,000 other people were looking for it. It's wrong. A dab page should be made. JuJube (talk) 10:04, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate is the kind of response I was mostly hoping for. While I accept that when many people say "black culture" they may be referring to African American culture, many other countries (for example, the UK) have "black cultures" themselves that are different.Kombucha (talk) 11:48, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate: we know the redirect is used, we know there are other articles that the reader may be looking for, it makes sense to convert this to a disambiguation page. – The Parting Glass 14:47, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dabify per above. This one will "grow" - I would recommend watching it as this will have edit war potential as a hot political topic. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 15:39, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
