DC characters by name - AList of DC Comics characters#A[edit]

The result of the debate was Re-target to List of DC Comics characters: A. -- JLaTondre (talk) 00:47, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to the others below, this is a redirect to one letter section of a long list. Because the target is a single page, and anchor fragments (e.g., "#A") work perfectly well in wikilinks and even the search box, there's no need for separate section redirects that are unlikely to be used. Gavia immer (talk) 23:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems like there are two separate lists that ought to be merged; this isn't the lace for merge discussions, but it's likely a better idea to merge all of these to a single article rather than 26 of them. If that's done, these would be useless again. Gavia immer (talk) 16:49, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, the split is a results of discussions at the Comics WikiProject, and is also appropriate per the MoS on long lists. That said, a hisory merge might indeed be in order. - jc37 05:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to below, these are links to individual letter sections of the target article that are unlikely to be used. Since anchor fragments work in wikilinks and even in the search box, these redirects, which are longer than the target they redirect to, are not really useful for anything, except to clog up Special:Whatlinkshere for the target. Links to individual letter sections of the target article that are unlikely to be used. Since anchor fragments work in wikilinks and even in the search box, these redirects are not really useful for anything, except to clog up Special:Whatlinkshere for the target. More importantly, the unusual format incorrectly suggests that these are directly related to the subject of "A", "B", etc., and they clog up the autosuggestion box for anyone actually trying to search for articles on individual letters or letterforms; that is to say, these are actively harmful. Gavia immer (talk) 23:28, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - not only are they potentially confusing, they don't fit disambiguation/NAME guidelines. If there are similarly-named redirects with the singular "DC characters", I'd recommend their deletion, too. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 23:33, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - very unlikely search name. That said, a history merge might indeed be in order. If kept, Redirect to the corresponding letter. For example, List of DC Comics characters: A. - jc37 05:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WhalecoreMastodon (band)[edit]

The result of the debate was Kept. Not notable enough in its own right, but possible search term. -- JLaTondre (talk) 01:21, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Word is nowhere to be found in target article. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 22:44, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep The word refers to the unique genre in which the band has been classified, as a result of their album "Leviathan". See here, here and here for instance. A Google search reveals that the term is commonly used enough to justify a redirect. PeterSymonds (talk) 07:15, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • If that's the case, there should be a mention of the term (and a description) somewhere in Wikipedia about the term. As it is, "whalecore" has only one occurrence in Wikipedia articlespace - the redirect itself.147.70.242.40 (talk) 17:27, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My PROD got removed, so off to XfD it is. Same rationale going to be used here:

Per a bit of IAR. English Wikipedia is not a US WIkipedia, so we should not be using Spanish here. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 15:59, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, no, you can't close your own RfDs. EVula // talk // // 17:03, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An admin deleted it, but didn't put the archive tags on the debate. Adding the tags was merely administrative paperwork on NuclearWarfare parts and a reasonable action. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What he said :) Also, who undeleted the article? I'm pretty sure it was deleted yesterday. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason, my Spanish watchlist page is being redirected to an US-English page and then to this discussion page. I suggest that this proposed redirection is not implemented as it seems to be affecting the Spanish Wikipedia. Thanks! --jofframes (talk) 17:13, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is a server problem: see Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Apparent server problem. I doubt it is associated with this redirect as it's affecting other languages as well. I just think ES users are seeing a differemt symptom due to this redirect. If the server problem is fixed, hopefully, all the issues go away. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:20, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it seems to be fixed now. --jofframes (talk) 21:30, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - cross namespace redirect. –xeno (talk) 18:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Xenocidic, as long as this redirect has absolutely nothing to do with the crash earlier. It's looking like the crash came from a completely different source, so this should no longer be an issue. But cautiously...in case... :) PeterSymonds (talk) 19:55, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect was apparently established solely so as to avoid a red link. Everyme 01:30, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per Everyme. Looking at the disambig page, I can see no mention of a magazine. Redlinks are good because they encourage people to start an article about the subject. PeterSymonds (talk) 19:58, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
