September 14[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on September 14, 2008

7 Colenso MountHasib Hussain[edit]

The result of the debate was Kept. Content from the redirect was merged to the target (by the nominator on 7 July 2007). As such, the history needs to be maintained for GFDL compliance. While this is an unlikely search term, there is no harm in keeping it and it's the easiest way to maintain the history. -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No article pages link to the redirect DiggyG (talk) 19:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also; the page never should have been created in the first place: it's a content fork with entirely redundant content. DiggyG (talk) 04:19, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral While Hussain lived at 7 Colenso Mount during the attacks, I'm not particularly sure if its a likely search term. Pie is good (Apple is the best) 19:59, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - unlikely search term as the location of his residence is irrelevant to the content of the target article itself. It is no more important than the address of residence of Aileen Wuornos in her article. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 21:06, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The redirect is marked as resulting from a merge. Has that been undone? --Tikiwont (talk) 07:58, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PDCWikipedia:WikiProject Derbyshire[edit]

The result of the debate was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 23:51, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clear spelling mistake or unlikly to be used. Perhaps WP:PDS would be better and more obvious Prom3th3an (talk) 19:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - it might not be a spelling mistake: it could stand for Project Derbyshire County. Even if that is the case though, I agree it's a bit obscure. Is there a way of telling if anyone is actually using this redirect? Terraxos (talk) 20:53, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a list. DiggyG (talk) 23:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So basically no one other than RFD, except for an old takpage archive 203.122.240.118 (talk) 11:47, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I wonder what the people at Wikipedia:WikiProject Derbyshire think about this redirect. If they want to keep it, I'd recommend mentioning the shortcut on their project page; if they don't, it should be deleted. If there is nothing from that Wikiproject regarding this before close, delete as a confusing redirect. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 21:11, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:BLINKUser:The Fat Man Who Never Came Back/Courtesy blinking[edit]

The result of the debate was keep. Giggy (talk) 11:15, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cross namespace redirect that implies it is a proposed policy. meshach (talk) 05:13, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. WP shortcut to userspace essay doesn't count as "cross-namespace". --UsaSatsui (talk) 07:14, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. There's ample precedence for using Wikipedia redirects to user space for essays, even humorous ones. WP:EVULA, maintained by the bureaucrat User:EVula comes instantly to mind. Cross namespace redirects are discouraged from article space, but this is not even discouraged. Unless a Wikipedia page has a compelling need to use the redirect, there's really no reason to waste time deleting this one. Not sure why deleting this seemed like a priority for someone with so much encyclopedia to be writing. --JayHenry (t) 07:15, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't we have some type of guideline against flashing or blinking text or images? Or is that on Commons? If we have it, the redirect could be retargeted to the guideline. –Black Falcon (Talk) 15:58, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and MFD the page unless it is tagged as humour. Stifle (talk) 16:48, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As with WP:EVULA, there's simply no requirement that users place an ugly box in their user space to notify the community of obvious humor. --JayHenry (talk) 16:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is not the place to discuss the virtues (or lack thereof) of the target page. --UsaSatsui (talk) 19:50, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Project space shortcut → userspace redirects are fine. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 20:39, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Cross-namespace redirects are only about redirecting out of article space; there are tons of WP redirects that go to the user namespace (my own being just one of them). EVula // talk // // 21:12, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per EVulva. Mike R (talk) 15:13, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am currently developing a product called the eVulva, which will be second only to the real thing. Can someone check if the trademark has been registered already?--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 02:53, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
892 GHits, so there's prior use, but the USPTO's TESS system returns no hits. .... oh, were you kidding? Kylu (talk) 04:31, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm gonna be so rich.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 03:23, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've informed my lawyers to draw up the cease-and-desist papers. EVula // talk // // 13:58, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:LEGAL Pedro :  Chat  20:37, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That only applies to legal threats. I think that was more of a promise --UsaSatsui (talk) 23:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, not a CNR, not bothering anything. I won't be watchlisting this, so if someone needs me to expound on this, please see my talkpage, which is conveniently linked as WP:AN/K. (and no, I did not create that myself, my ego is big, but not that big...) Keeper ǀ 76 17:29, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
