Election of 1968United States presidential election, 1968[edit]

The result of the debate was Retarget to 1968 election. Tikiwont (talk) 09:47, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguous redirect: suggests the US presidential election was the only election that took place in 1968, which is not the case (see Category:1968 elections). This could become a disambiguation page, but it's probably best deleted - the existing category is sufficient for that purpose. Terraxos (talk) 19:05, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Category:1968 elections, as I believe that would be more appropriate than deletion. Knippschild (talk) 05:02, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • This would be a cross-namespace redirect, which is most highly discouraged. B.Wind (talk) 05:38, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - too confusing a redirect as there would be multiple targets (note that 1968 was a momentous year internationally - see Czechoslavakia, for example). As stated above, redirecting to a category (or a template, for that matter) would be a cross-namespace redirect, which is discouraged in Wikipedia. B.Wind (talk) 05:38, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Storm Lidia (2005)2005 Pacific hurricane season[edit]

The result of the debate was Keep until an article is written. Tikiwont (talk) 09:52, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This makes it harder if ye do an article when Hurricane Max (2005) is finished. Leave Message orYellow Evan home 15:56, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - When/if a decent article gets made in a sandbox and is ready for publishing then im sure Juliancolton or one of the other Admins will delete the redirect. Jason Rees (talk) 02:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - until a new article on the Pacific tropical storm is written, a redirect is not only recommended, but practically required. Unprotected redirects can be easily overwritten. B.Wind (talk) 05:27, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep As B.Wind says, there is no need or reason to delete the pagehistory before overwriting the redirect with content if/when someone is so inclined. Rossami (talk) 19:20, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How am I going to do an article? Leave Message orYellow Evan home or User:Yellow Evan/Sandbox 00:08, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just add the content to the page, or ask an administrator to delete it. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 00:17, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Or do it in a sandbox and then ask a administrator to move it when the time is right Jason Rees (talk)

D confCategory:Diplomatic conferences[edit]

The result of the debate was Delete. While watching changes in the content of categories is a real problem in Wikipedia that isn't addressed by watchlisting, individual convenience isn't considered a sufficient reason to have a redirect in article space.Tikiwont (talk) 10:01, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely cross namespace redirect. MBisanz talk 04:15, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete unlikely and useless cross namespace redirect. Gavia immer (talk) 13:14, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per nom. Knippschild (talk) 04:49, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Helps me check on this category quickly sometimes. c'mon you guys, I need a few shortcuts. that's ok isn't it guys? ummm, guys?
All kidding aside, i did create the category, so a shortcut helps me check on it now and then. Is it possible to keep it? thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 14:05, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. thanks for your comment, and for your helpfulness on this. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 13:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - "D conf" appears nowhere in any article in the category. An abbreviation to "facilitate" a cross-namespace redirect is still in violation of WP:NAME. To "check" on a category, one is advised to put the category in his/her watchlist. B.Wind (talk) 05:34, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improper cross-namespace redirect, meaningless for encyclopedic content. MBisanz talk 04:13, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Per nom. Knippschild (talk) 04:59, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete malformed redirect that is only six months old and cannot be a title of an actual article in the foreseeable future. B.Wind (talk) 05:30, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete malformed redirect (bad structure). Shortcut WP:CSD#G7 already exists. Tohd8BohaithuGh1 (talk) 18:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improper cross namespace redirect, recently created so no historical page move attribution issues. MBisanz talk 04:12, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and tag with {{R with old history}}. Tohd8BohaithuGh1 (talk) 14:31, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep to preserve history of page move. B.Wind (talk) 02:44, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as is. Again, this is where the content existed long before the creation of the separate namespaces and even before the software change that allowed us to move away from CamelCase. Though currently orphaned, links are scattered all through pagehistories of the project. There are also likely to be external links to this early policy development page. There is no good reason to contribute to the problem of link rot. Rossami (talk) 19:23, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
