This redirect is of no use. It is a name of a person that should only be capitalised. I guess that the name of the page was originally formed with a typo. I think that this redirect should be deleted. Snowman (talk) 10:01, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    - That explanation is incorrect. If you hit go, the mediawiki will default to a search when there is no exact matching (the exception being with the first capital letter) name for a page. In the absences of a "Nicholas chamberlain" redirect (the requested outcome here), on hitting go useing the search term "Nicholas chamberlain", the mediawiki will default to a search and give "Nicholas Chamberlain" at the top of the list of results. - What use does it have? No one has given a valid use so far here. This is a persons name and should only be capitalised. It is uncommon to make this sort of redirect for peoples names intentionally? Comment: there are over half a million biographies on the wiki. Very few have capialisation redirects. Search, or press Go, for "Paul allen" and you will get a default search with Paul Allen at the top of the search list (unless someone makes a redirect). Comment: There is an added complication with this redirect (which I expect many people are not aware of unless you are local) because the search target might be "Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College" for which the original "Nicholas chamberlain" link was made. - What Wikipedia policy is the redirect in question violating that requires its deletion? I see none here. If it does, as Snowman claims, will this editor be just as deligent with the millions of similar redirects with "case errors", or is there a reason specific to this one? WP:IDONTLIKEIT is not a valid policy for deletion, and yet this seems to be the only one cited here in favor of erasure of this redirect article.B.Wind (talk) 16:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  - There is an article at Nicholas Chamberlaine and Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College. The school is sometimes called "Nicholas Chamberlaine" for short. The capitalisation spelling link is confusing. What policy are you using to say it should not be deleted? Dab pages are not usually made for only two pages.     - You mean besides WP:R#KEEP? Your assertion above seems more of a case of an unwillingness to put an {{otheruses4}} tag, or one of its siblings, on the Nicholas Chamberlaine article for disambiguation and not a real argument for deletion of a useful redirect. Use the template on the biographical article and it eliminates the real confusion factor that seems to be the basis of your objection. B.Wind (talk) 19:06, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
